Chapter 264 Is He Called William?

Upon hearing that chilling voice, Margaret's hair bristled, and an overpowering wave of terror engulfed her.

She turned around and saw a cold and noble figure standing in the hospital room, staring at her with icy eyes.

"Ms. Miller, what brings you here?" Margaret said with a forced smile, her face stiff with the effort.

'Damn it, how did I run into Jessica here!' she cursed in her mind.

Margaret was scared, shrinking her head and glancing at the indifferent William on the hospital bed.

Jessica stood tall, her arms folded in a gesture of self-assurance, while her exquisite black gown accentuated her refined and dignified presence.

Her eyes were cold as she stared at Margaret, slightly annoyed. It seemed Margaret hadn't suffered enough.

Jessica stepped forward and slapped Margaret across the face, saying coldly, "Did you forget what I told you last time?"

Margaret covered her cheek, looking innocent and aggrieved, and quickly said, "No, I remember."

Margaret had finally met someone she didn't dare provoke.

If it were anyone else, Margaret would have turned the place upside down and torn them apart.

But she didn't dare to do this to Jessica.

Margaret was indeed unreasonable, but she only acted that way in front of William and the Smith Family. If it were anyone with a bit of power and status, she would become very timid.

Jessica snorted coldly and said, "I'm warning you, Margaret. William doesn't dare do anything to you because you're his mother-in-law, but I'm different. If you dare to hit or humiliate William again, I won't let you off!"

"I wouldn't. I treat him like my own son," Margaret said.

Then she quickly showed the chicken soup she had brought, saying, "I just came to bring him some chicken soup. I personally made it."

As she spoke, she placed the chicken soup on the bedside table. She lied without a hint of shame.

It was clearly something she had bought the soup on the way.

Jessica gave Margaret a cold look, then looked at William, who was reading on the bed, and said, "Don't forget our agreement just now."

Jessica waved her hand and then walked out of the hospital room, leaving Margaret sweating and slumped on the sofa.

Her presence was so overwhelming that Margaret couldn't help but want to kneel.

After Jessica left, Margaret glared at William angrily and scolded, "William, why didn't you help me just now? Do you enjoy watching me get hit? I'm your mother-in-law, and that vicious woman is just your stepmother. Who's closer, me or her?"

William raised an eyebrow, looked at Margaret coldly, and said, "Don't be unreasonable with me. If you have the guts, go find her."

William thought silently, 'Margaret really does bully the weak and fear the strong. Have I not shown enough strength for her to be afraid of me?'

"Unreasonable?"

Hearing this, Margaret was unhappy. She threw the chicken soup into the trash can and cursed, "You ungrateful wretch! I wanted to be good to you, but you deserve to be a loser for life!"

Maybe cursing wasn't enough, so Margaret started to harshly criticize, "William, you eat and use our family's resources. What have you ever done for the Smith Family? I can't stand Jessica. Either you help me deal with her, or you divorce Mary. I don't want Mary to have such a vicious stepmother!"

Margaret knew that she and Jessica were like water and fire.

She didn't dare to deal with Jessica, so she had to drag William into it.

If William dared not listen to her, she would let Mary divorce him.

Considering William's cowardly appearance, the Jones family's assets must be in Jessica's hands.

That wouldn't do; she had to take them back from Jessica!

Margaret had been thinking simply these days. As long as the assets were taken back from Jessica, they would be William's and ultimately Mary's, which meant hers.

William shook his head helplessly, his brows furrowed, and said coldly, "Margaret, please leave."

He had really had enough of Margaret's unreasonable and troublesome behavior.

"What, you're kicking me out?" Margaret asked furiously. She stepped forward and slapped William hard, cursing, "You ungrateful wretch! Now you dare to kick me out? Don't forget, I'm your mother-in-law. Even if things are different now, you have to listen to me!"

With that, Margaret grabbed her bag and left.

She completely turned her back on him.

William was fed up with her.

He needed to find a way to warn Margaret, or she would become too arrogant.

After Margaret left, William felt much more relaxed, recalling the agreement he had just made with Jessica.

Thinking about it, he called Nicholas and asked, "Uncle Nicholas, are you back on the island?"

"Yes, there's something at home. Don't worry, I can handle it," Nicholas said on the other end of the line, his voice noticeably somber.

However, William's attention was somewhat divided at that moment. He asked a few questions, but didn't give the conversation much focus before eventually ending the call.

Finally, Nicholas asked, "When do you plan to come home?"

William thought for a long time and replied, "Soon."

Suddenly, an urgent ringing interrupted his thoughts. He saw it was a familiar yet unfamiliar number.

"Hello, who is this?" William asked.

"Just a few days without seeing me, and you don't recognize my voice?" A sweet voice said, like a spring breeze.

It was Betty!

William immediately identified the owner of the voice. What could she want, calling him at this time?

"Go ahead, what is it?" William asked.

Betty was completely a young girl, bold and open.

But William couldn't lead Betty on; he was already married with children, and besides, she was Alan's daughter. If word got out, it wouldn't be good.

"Can't I call you for no reason?" Betty questioned.

She was just coming out of a hotel, wearing a fashionable white baseball skirt paired with a small camisole and a white hat, perfectly showcasing her hot and full figure!

Several men passing by the hotel entrance were all dumbfounded by her beauty!

She was simply too beautiful! Moreover, her ample breasts made them fantasize.

William didn't know how to respond, so he just laughed awkwardly.

Betty didn't want to dwell on the previous question and got straight to the point, "I need to talk to you about something. Are you free?"

William replied indifferently, "Betty, if you're going to ask me to pretend to be your boyfriend again, no."

"You don't get to decide that. I'm coming over to see you," Betty said straightforwardly.

In about ten minutes, she appeared in the ward just as William was about to get out of bed.

"Why are you in the hospital?" Betty asked upon entering.

In her eyes, William was a very capable person who knew martial arts!

William pulled a long face and said, "Got into a fight."

Seeing his poor condition, Betty stepped forward with concern and asked a few questions, looking very worried. She said, "Who hit you? Tell me, and I'll have my dad's men get revenge for you!"

Touching William was like touching Betty's heart.

Betty's enchanting presence left William in a state of stupefaction, his gaze fixed upon her as he shook his head in helpless bewilderment.

Betty had quite a fiery temper.

"Betty, can you help me to the bathroom?" William suddenly asked.

"What?" Betty asked in surprise.

She thought she had misheard. What was William thinking?

Asking her, a girl, to help him to the bathroom?

She didn't expect William to be this kind of person.

But she liked it.

Betty's face blushed, looking very shy. She confirmed, "Do you really want me to help you?"

William didn't want to either, but he had been stabbed in the leg, hand, and abdomen and now had stitches. Walking was painful.

It was indeed quite awkward.

"Just help me over there, and I'll handle the rest myself," William said, gritting his teeth.

Frowning, Betty bit her red lips, looked at the hospital room door behind her, and then seemed to make up her mind. Her face turned red as she said shyly, "I'll just help you to the bathroom. The rest is up to you!"

After all, she was a girl and couldn't go too far.

William nodded repeatedly; that was enough.

Betty was still a bit shy, but she helped William up from the bed. He was quite heavy.

William placed his hand on Betty's soft shoulder, his nose filled with her light perfume, which was intoxicating!

In such close proximity, William could even sense the subtle warmth emanating from Betty's body and detect a gentle tremor, adding to the intensity of the moment.

William thought, 'This must be Betty's first time being so close to a man.'

Thinking of this, William shook his head.

Luckily, he only liked Mary. Otherwise, facing a girl like Betty, he would really worry about losing control.

"You stand and pee by yourself," Betty said, her cheeks flushed as she finally got William to the toilet.

Oh, how shy! How could she be so good to him!

Betty's heart was racing, and she felt her face burning.

After William came out, Betty left a sentence, "Accompany me to a dinner in a few days, as repayment for what I just did for you."

With that, she turned and ran out of the ward.

'Dinner?' William pondered. 'What kind of trick is she planning now?'

Meanwhile, Mary was just coming out of the company.

The company's pharmaceutical sales channels had been perfectly resolved. All of the Sanchez family's sales channels had been merged and acquired by another company, which had reached a cooperation agreement with BK Pharmaceuticals this morning.

For this, she had specially prepared to thank Dylan.

However, halfway there, she suddenly remembered something William seemed to have said to her last night.

He was Mr. Jones of the Jones Group in Imperial City!

Mary almost forgot about this. She left the company and drove to the Jones Group branch in Lindwood City, where she found Dylan.

She was half-believing and half-doubting William's words. She believed that William had indeed changed a lot recently.

What puzzled her was, if William was really Mr. Jones of the Jones Group in Imperial City, why would he willingly be a useless son-in-law in the Smith Family for three years?

"Oh, Ms. Smith, welcome. Is there something you need from me?" Dylan said with a broad smile as he received Mary in the boardroom.

Mary sat on the sofa, hesitated for a long time, and then slowly asked, "Mr. Brooks, I just want to ask you one thing. Is the young master of the Jones Group in Imperial City named William?"
