Chapter 241 A Pair of Adulterers
William didn't say a word, turned around, and took a cab to the hospital!
He urged the driver to speed all the way.
He thought in the car, 'Damn Jeffery, what the hell is he up to? I've spared his life back then, and now he's back. Is he seeking revenge?'
William, heavily panting, sprinted from the car to the sixth floor and arrived at Sarah's ward.
He suddenly pushed the door open!
William saw Jeffery sitting on the sofa in the room, dressed in a navy blue suit with slicked-back hair. Behind him stood two stern-looking bodyguards, both in black suits, exuding a cold aura.
The aura of the two bodyguards suggested they'd escaped a life-threatening battle.
William quickly scanned past Jeffery and landed on the bed, finding Sarah asleep and unharmed.
Jeffery put down his coffee cup, glanced at the Rolex on his wrist, and said with a cold smile, "Indeed, fatherly love is great. I didn't expect you to get here in just ten minutes."
William turned, stepped forward, clenched his fists, and walked towards Jeffery.
The bodyguards immediately stepped forward, blocking William.
"What do you want?" William asked, his eyes cold, staring at Jeffery, who had completely changed.
Jeffery had become very arrogant, exuding an air of self-importance.
His attire was all brand names, and the bodyguards were at his side.
'Has Jeffery made a comeback?' William wondered.
"Don't be so tense, we're old classmates," Jeffery said, smiling.
He stood up, dusted off his suit collar, then raised an eyebrow and smirked. "Do you remember how you dealt with me? Do you remember how you got my dad into prison? Do you remember how I begged you like a dog back then?"
He continued, "William, you're lucky. I'm back, and I'm here to get my revenge. I will take away everything you cherish, piece by piece. I want you to personally experience the feeling of losing everything."
Jeffery laughed arrogantly, his face full of provocation.
William sneered, his eyes bloodshot, staring at Jeffery. "Jeffery, if I could take you down once, I can do it again! I don't know who you've met or what you've gained, but let me tell you, in my eyes, you'll always be a loser!"
Jeffery's expression turned cold, and his eyes were icy as he looked at William. He suddenly pushed aside the bodyguard in front of William.
William and Jeffery locked eyes, sparks of anger flying.
"I've investigated you," Jeffery said with a wicked smile.
"I'm all ears," William said calmly.
"You're the young master of the Jones family," Jeffery continued.
"Seems like the people behind you are quite influential," William said.
Jeffery nodded slightly in agreement, his eyes cold. "I didn't expect the useless William of three years to be the young master of a wealthy family. I'm curious, why did you hide your identity? Does Mary know?"
William stated coldly, "It's none of your business."
"It is."
Jeffery continued, "I came back this time for two reasons: to get revenge on you and to take Mary away."
"That depends on your ability. Since you've found out, I'm curious, who are the forces behind you? Aren't they afraid of dying?" William asked, raising an eyebrow.
Jeffery laughed heartily and said, "If I told you who they are, it might scare you to death."
As he spoke, he patted William's shoulder, his eyes full of disdain.
William immediately raised his hand and knocked Jeffery's hand away. He took a step forward and exuded a chilling aura, saying, "Jeffery, don't push me to kill you!"
His sentence drastically cooled off the atmosphere.
It seemed as if they could hear the sound of water freezing in the air.
Jeffery's pupils shrank suddenly as he felt an overwhelming killing intent from William, which made him shiver in fear.
"Ridiculous! Take care of yourself first," Jeffery said coldly, then turned and walked away.
At the door, he stopped, turned around, and added, "By the way, can you still keep your identity a secret from Mary? Do you need me to tell her for you?" William turned and shouted angrily, "Don't you dare!"
Jeffery laughed heartily and walked away.
After Jeffery left, William dialed a number, his body radiating a killing aura, and spoke, "Investigate Jeffery. I want to know everything about the forces behind him."
"Daddy."
Suddenly, a sweet, innocent voice sounded.
William turned his head, his face softening into a gentle smile as he looked at Sarah on the bed. She was rubbing her sleepy eyes and reaching out for a hug.
"Hey, I'm here to see you," William said.
He walked over with a smile, picked up Sarah, and played with her, laughing happily.
Not long after, Lucy walked in. Seeing William, she smiled sweetly and asked, "William, why are you here today?"
William was playing with Sarah's toys and replied with a smile, "Just came to check on things."
Then, he suddenly remembered something and asked, "By the way, how's your brother doing now?"
At the mention of this, Lucy walked over and bowed in front of William. With a tearful voice, she thanked him, "My brother and I thank you for saving our lives. I will repay your kindness someday."
William, in a hurry, helped Lucy up and said, "What are you doing? It's a small matter, no need for this."
William knew Lucy was kind-hearted but struggled with communication, often keeping everything to herself.
Seeing Lucy crying, William felt a pang of heartache.
The burden on her young shoulders was too heavy.
"Alright, alright, don't cry. Just take good care of Sarah, and that will be enough to repay me and Mary, understand?" William said, handing her a tissue.
Lucy nodded in understanding, then suddenly hugged William and said, "William, thank you."
This sudden hug startled William, but he still patted her frail shoulder comfortingly and said, "Alright, it's okay. If you have any difficulties in the future, just come to me."
Just then, Margaret walked in with a small cake, smiling brightly.
"Sarah, I'm here to see you," she said.
As soon as she entered, she saw William and Lucy hugging. In an instant, Margaret got furious!
"Ah! You two... you two!" she snapped, pointing at the hugging two.
She thought, 'That damn William, he really is keeping a mistress outside! Alright, so it's this Lucy! I knew she was flirty last time, and I was right.'
"Alright, alright, I finally caught you! You two, I'll beat you to death, you adulterous couple!" Margaret yelled.
After saying that, she threw the cake aside and swung her purse at them.
William was also stunned by Margaret's sudden appearance. He quickly shielded Lucy behind him and shouted, "Mom, you misunderstood. It's not what you think."
William felt a headache coming on.
Margaret didn't buy it. She said, "It's not what I think? You two are hugging, do you think I'm blind?"
With her hands on her hips, she scolded, "I knew it. How could you be so kind to help a girl who has nothing to do with you? Last time you hit me because of her, and now I caught you! How are you going to explain this? I'll beat you. You scum! You trash!"
As she scolded, Margaret swung her purse again, slapping, scratching, pulling hair, and kicking.
She used every trick in the book.
William was helpless and didn't dare to fight back.
Lucy hurriedly tried to intervene, shouting, "You misunderstood. It's really not what you think."
Margaret turned and slapped Lucy hard, pointing at her nose and scolding, "Shut up! You slut, homewrecker! How dare you to seduce William and a family? I'll expose you and get you fired from the hospital!"
As she scolded, she started tearing at Lucy's clothes.
Lucy was no match for the rampaging Margaret.
Soon, a crowd gathered at the door, all pointing and gossiping.
Seeing this, Margaret shouted, "Everyone, look at this! This adulterous couple is having an affair in the hospital, right in front of the child. It's shameless!"
She scolded fiercely, slapping William several times, pointing at his nose and cursing, "Scum, I'll tell Mary right now. You must get a divorce. You ungrateful person! After the Smith Family raised you for so many years, you turn around and find a mistress. You bastard!"
