Chapter 431 A Ferocious Onslaught
"You've really crossed the line this time!" Sterling yelled, his eyes practically bulging as he glared at William.
'Damn it! Even after coughing up three billion bucks, this guy still won't back off! He never planned to let us off easy!' Sterling fumed internally.
William let out a cold chuckle and said, "Sterling, I never intended to let you go. You're not getting off that easy!"
Sterling laughed loudly, no longer hiding his rage, and shouted, "William! Don't push your luck. I'm not someone you can mess with. I've got the Medical Association backing me. If you dare lay a finger on me, you, BK Pharmaceuticals, and your wife will all pay the price!"
Sterling had no choice but to name-drop the Medical Association to scare William.
William sneered, "The Medical Association? Anyone who tries to protect you will end up just like you!"
Right after he said that, a bunch of law enforcement officers stormed in and surrounded Sterling and his crew.
One officer barked, "Sterling, we've got all the evidence we need. You're coming with us!"
Sterling quickly shot off a text message and then roared, "William, you're gonna regret this! I won't go down easy. Just wait, I'll be back for you!"
Meanwhile, Leander was in his CEO office, getting cozy with his new secretary, when a sudden ringtone interrupted. He signaled the secretary to pause and checked the text message.
Why was Sterling hitting him up now?
After reading the message, Leander shot up, fuming.
His assistant burst through the office door, rushing in, "Sir, something big went down at the Medical Association branch! Sterling's been taken away!"
"What did you just say?" Leander asked, stunned. "What did he screw up?"
The female assistant quickly replied, "It's because of BK Pharmaceuticals. Some guy named William barged into the Medical Association branch and reported all of Sterling's dirty secrets to the prosecutor's office."
After getting the full scoop, Leander slammed his fist on the desk and growled, "Damn it! What's this guy's deal? Have you looked into him? How dare he mess with my people?"
With that, he whipped out his phone, dialed a number, and barked, "Find out everything about a guy named William for me!"
After hanging up, his face was twisted with anger, his eyes blazing.
Sterling couldn't go down! Sterling had too much dirt on him. If Sterling fell, he was toast too!
If things got out of hand, he wouldn't hesitate to take Sterling out.
Meanwhile, William had left the Medical Association branch.
At the entrance, Alan asked respectfully, "Mr. Jones, what's the next move?"
William turned back, glanced at the Medical Association building, and said calmly, "Wait for the big shots to start sweating, then we'll nab them all at once!"
Mary was still in the ICU. William sat by her bed, holding her hand tightly and gently touching her forehead.
"Mary, this is all on me. If only I had told you sooner," William murmured, tears glistening in his eyes.
After a while, Patricia came in and informed William that the plan was in motion. William glanced at Mary on the bed, his eyes filled with a cold determination, and said, "Let's do this."
Meanwhile, even though Otha had just called to say everything was sorted, Garth still felt uneasy. He had no clue who was really behind this attack on him. Plus, it was clear William wanted to take him down!
For years, Garth ruled Lindwood City's entertainment industry without any rivals, and his influence stretched all the way to Imperial City and Sunshine Bay City. As one of the top dogs in the entertainment industry, he wasn't scared of anyone.
But he still had to be careful.
"Caius, are you sure William is just a nobody?" Garth suddenly asked, thinking back to William's threats and warnings. Plus, his dirty secrets were exposed after William's threats. It was almost too coincidental.
Caius quickly nodded and replied, "Yeah, I've checked. He's just a loser who doesn't even stand up for himself when his mother-in-law yells at him. I think this whole thing is mostly BK Pharmaceuticals' doing, using him as a pawn."
He asked, "You don't think William's behind this, do you? How could that be possible? We took care of everything ages ago. Who could have possibly dug it up?"
Garth stared at the ceiling, deep in thought, and said, "Never underestimate your enemy."
Hearing this, Caius felt a bit scornful.
"Forget it, don't stress about this. The Golden Globe Awards are coming up soon. Let's focus on that," Garth said, seemingly dropping the matter.
Caius grinned and said, "Garth, you're definitely gonna clean up at the Golden Globes this time."
Garth laughed and said, "Let's stay humble until the results are in."
Suddenly, the work phone rang. Everyone in the living room froze for a moment.
Garth frowned, walked over, picked up the phone, and said in a deep voice, "What's up?"
The voice on the other end reported anxiously, "Mr. Tovar, something's happened! All our signed celebrities want to terminate their contracts, and several of our films have been pulled for non-compliance!"
Hearing this, Garth broke out in a cold sweat. He had over a dozen celebrities under his company. If they all bailed, his film company would go under. That wasn't even the worst part. He could always sign new talent. But now, even the films that were released had been taken down.
This was a huge problem!
Garth asked anxiously, "What the hell is going on?"
The person on the other end was freaking out, almost crying. "Mr. Tovar, check the news. A new film company just popped up locally, with some serious backing. They poached all our artists, and the termination fees were paid in full!"
Garth shouted, "Bullshit! The total termination fees add up to five or six billion dollars! What company has that kind of cash to pull this off?"
Garth knew that if all the celebrities terminated their contracts and jumped ship, and the films were pulled for re-evaluation, his company would be toast! The other side came in strong!
Who could it be? William?
