Chapter 291 Abigail's Background

Just at that moment, William's phone rang!

It was a call from George!

He immediately put down his glass of water and walked out of the hall, saying, "George, how did it go..."

The voice gradually faded away.

Margaret, who was sitting restlessly, watched William put down the glass and felt a sense of relief.

Fortunately, William didn't drink it.

Margaret then grew anxious as she'd used her first packet, leaving only two opportunities remaining.

Should she let William drink the glass of water?

After all, it wasn't poison; it shouldn't be fatal.

After William walked out of the hall, he went to a corner. George's respectful voice came through the phone, "Sir, I couldn't find Ambrose. I went to his place, but he was already gone."

"Gone?" William murmured.

He frowned, fell silent for a moment, and then said, "Alright, I got it. Settle down over there and stay in touch with him."

After hanging up the phone, William's eyes turned cold. What was Ambrose up to? Another mission?

Well, the plan he had set up wasn't ready yet.

If Jessica was really that impatient, she couldn't blame him for being ruthless later.

William returned to the hall, finding Margaret gone and the glass of water untouched.

He glanced at the glass and went straight upstairs.

Margaret was in the bedroom, holding a glass of water and peeking through the door crack. When she saw William go upstairs, she finally let out a sigh of relief.

She had to wait for the next opportunity.

In the afternoon, he left the upscale residential area to help Abigail deal with Quinlan.

On the way, he received a call from Benjamin.

"Sir, I looked into Abigail you asked about. Her background is very clean," Benjamin said in his usual lazy tone.

"Keep digging. No one in this world is truly clean. The cleaner they appear, the more they're hiding something," William said, glancing at Abigail, who was waiting for him across the street.

He had to admit that Abigail had a seductive figure. Walking around with her boosted his ego!

"What are you smiling about?" Abigail asked, amused to see William looking so smug. William was definitely not to be taken lightly.

"Oh, nothing," William said with a sly smile, then asked, "By the way, where did Quinlan ask to meet you?"

"At Sapphire Breeze Restaurant. Is there a problem?" Abigail asked.

She was astute enough to anticipate that Quinlan must have made thorough preparations since he suggested the place.

She was worried that Quinlan might try to control her.

William rubbed his chin, thought for a moment, and then grinned, saying, "No problem."

He wasn't worried at all. If Quinlan tried anything, he wouldn't mind breaking Quinlan's arms again!

Upon arriving at the private room of Sapphire Breeze Restaurant, they found Quinlan had been waiting. His looks nearly prompted William to burst into laughter.

Quinlan was sitting in a wheelchair with both legs in casts, his face wrapped in bandages, revealing only two black, triangular eyes!

The moment Quinlan saw Abigail walk in, he felt a sense of relief. This bitch had actually come; he would teach her a lesson later!

But upon seeing William walk in behind her, he panicked. Why the hell was this guy here, too!

Despite a flash of malice in Quinlan's eyes, he was very afraid of William and felt very conflicted.

He had been beaten into submission, but his pent-up anger made it hard for him to swallow his pride.

William was incredibly ruthless. If he tried anything bad again, he might end up dead here!

Thinking of this, Quinlan felt a mix of fear and anger. The memory of last night would stay with him forever, and so would William.

Upon seeing William enter with a mocking smile, Quinlan experienced a sharp pain in his chest, his face tense!

"Oh, Quinlan, I've missed you so much," William spoke preemptively.

The moment William saw Quinlan, he decided to mess with him.

As soon as he sat down, he put his arm around Quinlan's shoulder like an old friend and kept saying, "Quinlan, what happened to you? Who did this to you? I'll get back at them for you."

'Don't you know who did this?' Quinlan shouted silently in his heart.

He felt like he was going to cough up blood, but he couldn't lose his temper. He could only suppress his hatred and glance around with his triangular eyes peeking through the bandages. Then he forced a smile with his swollen lips.

Seeing his amusing appearance, Abigail couldn't help but laugh out loud. William was too wicked. As the one who did this to Quinlan, now he was asking who did it just to piss Quinlan off.

As he spoke, William kept pouring wine for Quinlan, saying affectionately, "Come on, Quinlan. I toast to you. Even in this state, you're still treating us to a meal. Your hospitality is truly overwhelming."

Being flattered by William like this, Quinlan felt cold sweat all over his body. If his facial expressions could be seen through the bandages, they would surely be quite dramatic!

'What do you mean by "even in this state"? Isn't it because you forced me into this? Wait! What do you mean by "treating you to a meal"? Don't change the subject!' Quinlan thought, feeling aggrieved but not daring to speak up. With such a ruthless person right next to him, how could he possibly act out?

Hearing William call him so affectionately, Quinlan couldn't help but shiver. This was driving him crazy with kindness! It wasn't enjoyable at all!

He couldn't take it anymore, especially with William constantly praising him for being handsome and generous. Angry, he slammed the table and shouted, "Enough! Damn it..."

Before he could finish, Quinlan noticed William sipping his wine coldly, his chilling gaze making him shiver!

A flicker of disdain crossed William's eyes as he glanced at Quinlan as if Quinlan were already dead.

Quinlan instantly cowered and whispered, "Can you give me some respect? We're here to talk business today."

"Respect?" William sneered, leaning back in his chair and looking at Quinlan indifferently. "I don't see any reason to show you respect."

William was so infuriating!

Quinlan really wanted to give William a punch right now.

Seeing William's demeanor, Quinlan felt miserable but could only accept his bad luck. There was no way he could win against William.

Quinlan forced a smile and awkwardly said, "I'm here to talk about money."

He had originally planned to berate Abigail and force her to repay the money when she arrived, but given the current situation, Quinlan didn't dare say much and could only swallow his anger.

"Money? What money? I don't know anything about that," William asked, feigning ignorance with a shameless smile. "Quinlan, wasn't that money to compensate Abigail for her financial and emotional losses? Well, are you backing out?"

Quinlan's heart raced at William's fierce look, he quickly waving his hands in disapproval to prevent provoking a scheme against him.

Aggrieved, he hurriedly explained, "No, I'm not backing out. It's just that I was hoping to get some of it back. I'm penniless right now and having a hard time."

"If you're not backing out, then there's nothing to discuss. Whether you're doing well or not has nothing to do with me or Abigail," William said. "Abigail is my friend now. If you dare to mess with her again, I won't be polite to you!"

"No, no, I wouldn't dare mess with her," Quinlan quickly explained, afraid that William might slap him. He had already lost a few teeth and was speaking with a lisp.

Quinlan realized that coming to talk to Abigail about money today was a foolish move and a self-inflicted punishment!

But his uncle Algernon Verne would arrive soon, so he had to find a way to stall them. Otherwise, his effort would be in vain.

"Seeing your sincere attitude, I won't beat you up for now. If you have any issues, come directly to me. Don't contact Abigail. If I find out you harass her or send someone to harass her, you are done for!" William said coldly, crushing the wine glass in his hand into pieces!

Quinlan, terrified, nodded repeatedly, saying, "No, I won't."

Quinlan thought simply, 'I'll let you be arrogant for now. When Algernon arrives, let's see how arrogant you can be!'

Thinking of this, he felt a bit better and quickly called out to William and Abigail, who were about to leave, "Don't rush off. Since you're here, stay and have a meal. Consider it my apology for my previous disrespect to Abigail."

Abigail was a bit confused. Had Quinlan really turned over a new leaf?

"Didn't expect you to be so considerate. Alright, I'll accept your gesture on behalf of Abigail," William said with a smile, waving to Abigail. "Abigail, don't just stand there. Come sit down. Since he's treating us to a meal, we should be gracious."

Abigail frowned but didn't want to embarrass William. She sat down next to him, but under the table, she pinched William's thigh and whispered, "What are you up to?"

"Don't talk. Just eat." William grinned.

Quinlan saw everything and cursed them as a pair of scoundrels in his heart. He hated Abigail even more. This bitch, pretending to be pure before but now flirting with William. Disgusting!

At this moment, a police car stopped at the entrance of Sapphire Breeze Restaurant. A middle-aged man in his forties or fifties got out, dressed in plain clothes with handcuffs hanging from his waist, looking quite imposing.
