Chapter 308 The Threat from the Cater Family
Harper suddenly shuddered and turned to stare at William in confusion.
'How does he know?' she thought in shock.
"Who are you?" she asked.
Her face changed instantly, and she looked at William with great vigilance.
William chuckled, scratched his head, and said, "Didn't I hear from Betty last time? You're from the Price family of Radiant Harbor City, aren't you? Pretty impressive, huh?"
Harper frowned and said coldly, "Don't ask things you shouldn't. I hope you know your place."
Harper then turned and walked away.
William shrugged and walked towards the elevator.
Meanwhile, inside private room 8429, the atmosphere was tense. Mary's face was slightly flushed, and she looked very upset, clearly having just had an argument. Opposite her sat Evander, flanked by his two subordinates and a female secretary, all exuding a coercive vibe.
"I disagree!" Mary said coldly.
Evander chuckled dryly and said meaningfully, "Ms. Smith, you understand that now your BK Pharmaceuticals has crossed the Henderson family of Imperial City. It's impossible for you to establish yourselves in Lindwood City, let alone launch that new anti-cancer drug. It might have been possible before, but now, it's going to be tough."
"Surely you don't expect our board members to go down with BK Pharmaceuticals, do you?" he added.
He was pleased with himself since he hadn't expected William to have the courage to offend the powerful Henderson family.
Upon hearing about the incident, he hurried to the party, contacted a group of board members, and prepared to stage a coup, aiming to seize the research results and full agency rights of DSⅡ!
Although they had withdrawn their investment, they hadn't given up their positions on the board.
BK Pharmaceuticals would soon be history in Lindwood City's pharmaceutical industry!
By then, he had completed Jessica's task, and his family would have reached a new level.
Evander sneered, having made up his mind. If BK Pharmaceuticals wanted to survive the Henderson family's relentless retaliation, they would have to rely on him and the Cater family!
"We'll handle the Henderson family ourselves, but don't even think about getting your hands on the DSⅡ research results!" Mary said coldly, standing up to leave.
However, Evander's two subordinates blocked her way.
Furious, Mary turned her face to ask angrily, "What do you want to do?"
Evander took a sip of tea, his face full of scheme as he said, "Ms. Smith, don't be in such a hurry. We can still discuss this. Sit down, please."
Mary frowned. She knew that the coercion was already in place. But if she handed over the DSⅡ research results and distribution rights, BK Pharmaceuticals would become a subsidiary of the Cater family!
So, she couldn't agree!
Evander didn't seem in a hurry. He sighed and said, "Ms. Smith, now that BK Pharmaceuticals is in trouble, we board members can't just stand by. You have to understand, the Henderson family is one of the prominent families in Imperial City. The resources and power behind them are beyond our imagination! William crossed Archibald of the Henderson family, which means BK Pharmaceuticals has crossed the Henderson family!"
Evander continued, "The Henderson family has some background in Lindwood City too. Fortunately, I can still talk to them. If you hand over the DSⅡ research results and half of the profits, I can plead with the Henderson family on your behalf."
By this point, it was very clear.
Half the profits and an additional forty percent to the Cater family would leave BK Pharmaceuticals with a mere ten percent.
Evander was a shameless scoundrel!
Mary's face grew colder. In such a situation, she couldn't remain expressionless.
She bit her lip, on the verge of speaking, but said nothing.
Suddenly, a cold, mocking voice sounded at the door of the private room. "Oh, Mr. Carter, are you bullying my wife?"
William walked in with his hands in his pockets, a cold smile on his face, his eyes locking onto Evander like a predator.
"William!" Mary called out.
The moment she saw William, she couldn't help but stand up. She didn't know why, but all her previous unease and anxiety vanished the moment she saw him, replaced by a sense of relief.
William strode in, stood in front of Mary, gave her an assuring look, and wiped away her tears. "Why are you crying? I'm here, aren't I?" he said.
"Who's crying? You're the one crying!" Mary mumbled, turning her back. She wiped the tears from the corner of her eyes and gave him a resentful look.
William smiled, turned to look at Evander, who was sitting on the sofa with a sullen face, and said, "Mr. Carter, if you have something to discuss, discuss it with me."
Evander sat on the sofa with an air of calmness, though William's sudden entrance had given him a slight jolt.
William was the one who secured a $3 billion new investment for BK Pharmaceuticals!
Who exactly was he to have such capable friends?
Evander's face showed a faint smile as he asked, "William, I've heard of you. You're just a small employee at BK Pharmaceuticals. Can you represent the company in discussing these matters with me?"
William crossed his arms, sat down, and casually crossed his legs. With an air of indifference, he said, "Why not?"
Evander frowned slightly and looked at Mary. Mary smoothed her dress and sat next to William, and her expression instantly became flawless as she said, "Mr. Carter, whatever you want to discuss, discuss it with him. He fully represents BK Pharmaceuticals in these matters."
William turned his head, blinked, and gave Mary a big thumbs-up. Mary had adapted quickly.
Evander's face darkened. He couldn't quite understand their intentions but still smiled faintly and said, "Alright, then I'll talk to you."
"Sure, how would you like to discuss it?" William said with a smile.
"Mr. Jones, you know that the person you hit tonight is from the Henderson family. The Henderson family is a prominent family in Imperial City, and the financial and influential power behind them is beyond our reach. With just one word from them, Lindwood City could undergo drastic changes. For example, a listed company could be permanently removed from Lindwood City. Although your company has secured new investments, the sales channels for this new drug, especially expanding into Imperial City, cannot do without the Cater family," Evander said with a cunning smile. His biggest leverage now was that BK Pharmaceuticals had angered Archibald, and Archibald had made it clear that he would retaliate against them!
BK Pharmaceuticals couldn't survive with their limited financial resources, so they had to rely on him!
William listened intently and asked, "So, in your opinion, how should this matter be resolved?"
Evander's face lit up with joy. After all, William was still afraid.
He stood up, walked over to William, patted him on the shoulder, and said, "You're impulsive, but sometimes it comes with a price. This matter isn't entirely your fault. Archibald is a business genius, so he can be arrogant. I've heard about what happened earlier. Both sides were at fault. There's still room for negotiation."
"How about this: BK Pharmaceuticals hands over the DSⅡ research results, and I'll handle all related matters for you. As for the subsequent distribution profits, I think at least half should go to the Henderson family to calm their anger. Only then can this matter be settled."
"And how much do you want?" William asked with a smile.
Evander picked up a glass of red wine from the table and said, "We want forty percent of the profits."

After a while, William stood up and said, "So we only get ten percent of the profits? And we have to give the DSⅡ research results to you? You're asking for a lot. Can you manage it?"
Evander turned his face, frowned, and looked at William. For the first time, he felt a chill from William, especially from his sharp eyes behind the glasses!
At that moment, Evander suddenly felt paralyzed, almost unable to hold the wine glass!
"Mr. Carter, you shouldn't be too greedy, or you might invite unnecessary trouble. Perhaps you should check on your son first," William said coldly, his face growing colder.
Evander's lips trembled, and a strong sense of unease surged in his heart!
Suddenly, an urgent ringing sounded. His subordinate handed him the phone, and Evander answered with a grim face. In an instant, he was furious, smashing the wine glass on the ground and cursing, "Damn you!"
Keith had been beaten and hospitalized!

Mary was disoriented by the sudden change, yet William's calmness reassured her.
It seemed William always managed to surprise her.
William spread his hands and declared coldly, "Your son's just like you. I hope you realize that I'm not someone who responds well to threats, and neither is BK Pharmaceuticals.
"Fine, fine, fine!" Evander said, his face dark.
He tore off the facade and said, "Today, if you don't hand over the DSⅡ research results, none of you are leaving here!"
