Chapter 390 Boundless Fury

The light Ghosthawk spotted was just a glint off a diamond on Mary's hairpin.

As the chairwoman of BK Pharmaceuticals, Mary frequently attended various events, always adorned with expensive jewelry to signify her status.

Right now, she was so zoned in on the killer's moves that she totally forgot about the hairpin in her hair.

Ghosthawk followed the sparkle and slid off the table. That flash meant Mary was hiding nearby.

He let out a cold snort, not expecting Mary to be hiding under the control panel.

Ghosthawk praised inwardly, 'Smart move, hiding in plain sight.'

Ghosthawk strolled back to the central control panel, making it look like he was about to punch in the password again.

Mary let out a sigh of relief, thinking the killer had given up on finding her. But in the next second, Ghosthawk flipped the table and landed right in front of her, making her scream.

Seeing his face, she was terrified and finally got why the last guy looked so freaked out before he died. This killer was Dorian, the top dog at the research institute. But wait, Dorian was an old dude, and this guy sounded way younger.

Mary gathered her courage and asked, "Who are you?"

Ghosthawk raised an eyebrow, surprised. "Oh? You figured out my disguise that quick? Impressive!"

He'd gotten sloppy and forgot to disguise his voice when talking to her earlier.

"But you don't need to know who I am. Dorian's already dead," Ghosthawk said, all casual-like.

Mary felt a surge of anger but quickly thought it through. "Please, don't kill me. I'll tell you everything I know!"

Ghosthawk grinned wickedly. But before he could say anything, Mary struck Ghosthawk's crotch with a forceful blow from her elbow!

She knew she couldn't match him in strength, so she played weak and then struck when he least expected it.

Ghosthawk, despite being a seasoned assassin, was still a guy and couldn't handle that kind of pain. He dropped to his knees, and Mary took her chance to escape.

She rushed to the button the last guy had pressed, but no matter how many times she hit it, the metal wall didn't budge. She realized that once the wall came down, it wouldn't open again.

Regret hit her hard for not learning the lab's layout better. The metal wall was an anti-theft device that could only be opened from the outside once activated.

Great design, but now it was a death trap.

Seeing Mary struggle with the mechanism, he laughed. "Stupid woman. You think you can hurt me and get away with it? I was gonna kill you after getting the password, but now I've changed my mind. I'm taking you back, and trust me, the guys there will like you. You'll have a good time.'"

He gave her a once-over.

Mary saw the look in his eyes and knew exactly what he meant. Her body trembled, but she forced herself to stay calm. If she could stay calm earlier, she could handle this creep now.

She couldn't give up. The hard drive she had was the result of countless researchers' work and the key for BK Pharmaceuticals to break into the market. She couldn't let it fall into the wrong hands, even if it meant her death.

Mary quietly reached for the hard drive on her. If needed, she'd destroy it.

Ghosthawk didn't notice her subtle movements. He just wanted the password. "Tell me the password, or I'll rape you right now!"

With that, he took off his lab coat and unbuckled his belt, making it clear he meant business.

Ghosthawk was truly a master of psychological warfare; he knew exactly how to dismantle a woman's mental defenses.

But Mary was unfazed. She could hear William still beating another intruder outside. How could she give up now?

"No way. I won't tell you!" Mary said, trying to buy time and keep the backup hard drive a secret. As long as he didn't know about it, she could protect the data. If he found out, she'd destroy it before he could take it.

Furious, Ghosthawk pulled out his belt, folded it a few times, and slapped it against his hand as he approached Mary.

"Fine, you brought it on yourself!" Ghosthawk snarled, whipping the belt and leaving a nasty red mark on Mary's arm. She couldn't help but cry out in pain.

"Are you gonna talk or not?" he demanded.

After whipping her, he grabbed Mary's throat, using one end of the belt to lift her chin, forcing her to look him in the eyes, then sliding the belt down her body.

Mary glared at him furiously, which only made Ghosthawk more pleased. "Fine, if I can't get the password, I'll be dead anyway. Might as well have some fun before I go," he said cruelly.

He started tying Mary's hands behind her back with the belt but didn't bother gagging her. Terrified, Mary shouted for help, "William! Help me, William!"

Ghosthawk, tearing off his shirt, sneered, "Scream louder. Let him come and save you. Let's see how he can save you!"

He leaned down, pressing against her.

Mary's cries grew more frantic, and the noise reached William's ears. Enraged, he stopped looking for a switch and jammed his short knife between the metal wall and the floor, prying it open with all his might.

To his surprise, the knife didn't snap under the pressure but instead managed to open a small crack between the floor and the wall.

Ecstatic, William inserted his fingers into the gap and lifted it further, finding that the metal wall would stay in place once lifted, not falling back down.

With all his strength, he managed to lift it a bit more. Sensing a glimmer of hope, the other researchers rushed to help, having heard the sounds inside and unable to stand by idly.

With everyone's help, the metal wall was soon lifted enough for an adult to squeeze through.

William swiftly stepped back a few paces, then dove to the ground, using the momentum to propel himself to the other side.

What he saw was a headless corpse, blood everywhere, and Mary and Ghosthawk in the corner.

As the metal wall was lifted, Mary was held hostage by Ghosthawk again.

Mary's hair was a mess, and her face was streaked with tears. Though she hadn't been violated, her mental defenses had collapsed. Seeing William, she burst into tears.

When William saw the scene before him, his anger flared up. As he charged at Ghosthawk, Ghosthawk could feel the rage radiating from him.

Ghosthawk had thought holding Mary hostage would make him invincible, but he didn't expect William to move so fast. Before he could react, Mary was already in William's arms.

William looked tenderly at Mary and said, "Wait here."

Then he turned his gaze to Ghosthawk, his eyes now blazing with fury. He lunged at Ghosthawk, who had to muster all his strength just to defend himself.

When their fists collided, the sound of bones breaking was unmistakable. William was unharmed, but Ghosthawk's fist was shattered.

Ghosthawk was completely stunned. It was unbelievable!

But William didn't give him a moment to recover. He followed up with a brutal kick to Ghosthawk's lower abdomen, likely causing internal damage.

Yet William didn't stop.

Ghosthawk was sent flying against the wall, blood trickling from his mouth. William then stomped on his neck. Ghosthawk tried to speak, but with his mouth full of blood, he couldn't utter a single word.

William didn't give him a chance. With a forceful stomp, Ghosthawk's spine snapped. Ghosthawk's eyes remained open, but his head drooped like a wilted flower.

No one could save him.

Only after Ghosthawk was completely dead did William retract his foot. Watching Ghosthawk's body slide down the wall, he turned to Mary, then looked down at the blood on himself.

Afraid of scaring her, he didn't approach her.

But Mary rushed forward, throwing her arms around his neck, burying her head in his chest.

"Thank goodness. I almost thought I..." Mary choked out.

She didn't finish her sentence, but William understood her fears. He gently stroked her hair and asked, "Aren't you afraid of me?"

Mary lifted her head, staring at his face. "Afraid of you? Why would I be?"

Upon hearing her response, William felt warmth fill his heart and realized Mary trusted him completely. Overjoyed, he lifted her in his arms, causing Mary to gasp.

"Stop! There are so many people here!" Mary spoke shyly.

By now, the metal wall had been fully lifted, allowing people to move freely. The others, seeing the gruesome scene, didn't dare approach, merely watching from a distance.

It was Mary's first time being held in William's arms in front of everyone. William, however, said naturally, "Why be shy? You're my wife. Come on, let's go!"

Meanwhile, reinforcements arrived, having received news of the attack on the lab.

The team leader, Quillon, rushed in, shouting as he approached, "Everyone inside, listen up! Hand over Ms. Smith, or no one gets out alive."
