William instantly felt that coming here wasn't so bad after all. Seeing a female officer with such a seductive figure was truly a stroke of luck.

William shrugged and said, "Isn't it written in the report?"
Hannah almost doubted her ears. What kind of attitude was that?
Tadhg, standing nearby, was stunned. This guy must be crazy to talk to Hannah like that. Wasn't he asking for trouble?
"Mind your attitude! Do you know where you are? Behave yourself here!" Hannah said angrily.
She had seen people like William before, who still wouldn't behave even in the police office.
"Do you know where you are? Behave yourself, or you'll face the consequences!" Hannah snapped.
However, her angry look was actually quite cute in William's eyes.
"Name, age, address, what crime you committed..." Hannah enumerated.
What followed was a mechanical interrogation process, and William answered honestly.
Hannah looked at William, a trace of anger flashing across her delicate face, and asked seriously, "Why did you hit someone?"
William looked at her in confusion and said, "Why don't you ask him why he got beaten up?"
"Just answer the questions you're asked. No need for extra words!" Hannah said coldly.
William shrugged, tilted his head, and thought for a while, then replied, "Actually, it's quite simple. You just need to ask Algernon."
"Algernon?" Hannah repeated.
Puzzled, she glanced at Tadhg, who was equally confused. She asked, "What does Algernon have to do with this? We're asking about your case. Stop dodging the question!"
Hannah suddenly realized that this guy named William might be deliberately avoiding the question. In all her years of handling cases, she had never seen someone so shameless and bold.
"Algernon was the one who brought me in. I don't even know what crime I committed," William said innocently.
"You broke someone's legs and you don't know what crime you committed?" Hannah said impatiently. William was clearly playing dumb.
"Why don't you ask about the cause of the incident?" William retorted.
The cause?
Hannah furrowed her brows, looking at William. Despite his brashness, he didn't appear malevolent. Could there be something she didn't know about?
But the record was clear: William was suspected of intentional injury and illegal occupation of someone else's property, among other charges.
Hannah looked at Tadhg and asked with furrowed brows, "What exactly happened?"
Tadhg was also taken aback and quickly flipped through the records, saying, "Hannah, I don't know either. Algernon just told me to watch him and said he would handle the interrogation himself."
Hannah's brows furrowed even deeper. Her sharp, professional instincts told her that this wasn't a simple case. She looked at William and asked, "Is there anything you haven't told us?"
William shook his head and said, "I can't say."
Hannah was taken aback. "Why not?"
"Because Algernon hasn't arrived yet," William said with a cheeky smile. "If he doesn't come, this whole thing won't make much sense. I think he's probably preparing some materials right now, figuring out how to put me in jail for a few years."
William said this with a nonchalant expression, but to Hannah and Tadhg, it was quite unbelievable!
"What nonsense are you talking about!" Tadhg shouted as he slammed the table and glared at William.
William just shrugged and said, "Don't look at me like that. I'm just telling the truth."
"Rubbish!"
Seeing Algernon suddenly appear at the door of the interrogation room, both Hannah and Tadhg were taken aback and then called out, "Algernon."
The person who had just returned was Algernon, the squad leader!
He looked both embarrassed and angry. Upon entering, he saw Hannah interrogating William and glared at Tadhg, saying, "I told you to watch him. What have you been doing?"
Tadhg quickly lowered his head, looking innocent.
Algernon didn't dare to reprimand Hannah, but he gave her a slightly dissatisfied look. If it weren't for her family background, Algernon wouldn't be so accommodating. He said, "Hannah, Tadhg is new and lacks experience. You're our top officer. How could you let someone like him manipulate you?"
As he said this, Algernon glared viciously at William, who still wasn't behaving even after being brought here. But he'd use all his tricks on William soon!
"Algernon, what do you mean by that?" Hannah asked, unaware of what Algernon was scheming.
Algernon stated, "You all know that the higher-ups have tasked us with keeping our jurisdiction in perfect order. We can't afford any major incidents. If the higher-ups come down on us, everyone will get reprimanded! Recently, a lot has been happening in our jurisdiction. The leaders have been busy dealing with tasks from above and haven't had time to manage these issues."
Algernon continued, "So, the responsibility of managing the district was handed over to me, and I have to see it through!"
Hannah nodded and said, "Algernon, I know all this."
Algernon's eyes subtly swept over Hannah's delicate face, and he couldn't help but swallow a bit, feeling amazed. He said, "Hannah, you're always the most talented among us. You react faster than anyone else. Both I and our leader, Percival Davenport, have high hopes for you. You're sure to be selected as an elite at the end of the year."
It was impossible for Algernon not to have improper thoughts about Hannah's beauty, but their positions hindered his display of them. He could only imagine it privately. At this moment, he was trying to gain Hannah's favor with his experience, which was understandable.
Algernon turned and said in a tone of concern, "Alright, alright, you guys can go out now. I'll handle the interrogation myself. You must be tired. Go home and rest early."
Hannah said, "Algernon, I just finished my case, and I'm free anyway. I'll join you in the interrogation."
Algernon's face changed at her words. If he refused again, it would seem suspicious. He said, "Alright then."
Algernon yanked out a chair, dumped files on the table, and aimed the bright lamp at William, assuming a rogue cop attitude. He shouted, "William, you better come clean!"
William, illuminated by the lamp, didn't even turn his face slightly. With a cold smile, he looked at the domineering Algernon and said coldly, "Algernon, what do you want me to confess? Don't you know what crime I've committed? Are you trying to pin a baseless charge on me? Are you involved in this case?"
"How dare you! Nonsense!" Algernon snapped.
He pointed at William's nose and said angrily, "What do you think this place is? This is a place where facts and laws matter, and everything is based on evidence! Just for what you said, I could charge you with defamation!"
Hannah frowned slightly, looking at Algernon and then at the calm William. Where did this guy get his confidence from, daring to confront Algernon here?
However, Algernon's behavior today was too abnormal. Could there really be something fishy going on?
Algernon sneered, "Stubborn, huh? Today, I'll stay with you. Don't think if you don't confess the truth, I can't deal with you!"
Hannah was taken aback, for she didn't expect Algernon to be so hot-tempered, unlike his usual self.
"Algernon is planning to use severe interrogation on me," William sneered and said, "Miss, you see this, right? Is what he's doing legal?"
Hannah didn't say anything. Sometimes, dealing with scum like him required no mercy.
Algernon pointed at William and said, "You better shape up and admit what you've done fast, or things won't end well for you today!"
William looked at Algernon with a cold, provocative smile, unmoved and fearless.
There was even a hint of mockery in his smile!
"What are you laughing at?" Algernon said angrily.
Seeing William's mocking smile, his anger flared even more, and he slammed the table!
If Hannah hadn't been there, he would have already rushed over and beaten this arrogant guy!
"I'm waiting for someone. Why don't we wait together?" William said coldly, his eyes full of confidence.
