Chapter 95 Alright, I'll Tell You!
William's fiancée?
Mary's heart trembled violently, and her pale hands gripped her skirt tightly. She stared at Susan in disbelief, then lowered her gaze. Now, her lips trembling slightly.
Why was this happening?
She was William's fiancée.
Why had William never mentioned this to her?
At this moment, Mary's mind was in turmoil and unable to calm down. She nervously took a big gulp of coffee to suppress her emotions.
Susan's lips curled into a cold smile, betraying her inner triumph as she continued. "William and I have been childhood sweethearts. We've been close since we were little. Seven years ago, he disappeared without a word from our engagement party. I never thought that seven years later, he would be married with a daughter."
Susan spoke slowly, each sentence making Mary feel like a criminal.
She had known William before as a childhood sweetheart.
Mary, being a woman, could understand the pain of being abandoned by a man at an engagement party.
It was the ultimate humiliation for a woman.
"I'm sorry. Let me apologize to you on behalf of William."
It took a while for Mary to squeeze out that sentence, her eyes already moist.
All her defenses crumbled at that moment.
Faced with Susan of such caliber, Mary truly struggles to ascertain the appropriate means of contention.
"You say you know William. Has he ever mentioned me to you?" Susan asked.
Mary shook her head, reluctant to look at Susan. The wind had ruffled her hair now.
Susan shook her head in resignation. "I can't believe he's kept you in the dark, too. I don't know what he's thinking."
"What do you mean?" Mary heard the unspoken implications.
Susan looked at her coldly, with a scrutinizing gaze mixed with pity. "Do you truly perceive William in the guise he inhabits in your existence? A figure of obscurity, enduring each day the scorn and ridicule of your household, relegated to the status of a mere good-for-nothing in your eyes."
Mary remained silent. She had a hunch that William wasn't the good-for-nothing she had imagined.
Especially he had changed a lot recently.
"William told me that his family is in business and he ran away from home. He confided in me about this," Mary tried to turn the tide, speaking seriously but also sounding nervous.
Susan laughed, a laugh that was exaggerated and cold.
"Do you believe him?" Susan said, "What if I told you that this restaurant belongs to the Jones family, to William? Would you still believe what he says?"
Did this restaurant belong to William?
Impossible.
This is the Polaris Sky Restaurant, with only seventeen branches nationwide!
Its assets must be worth hundreds of millions of dollars!
Mary frowned, her heart filled with intense nervousness and doubt.
What exactly was William hiding from her?
Susan continued indifferently, "It seems you don't understand William at all. I have no idea what makes a woman like you think you are worthy of him."
The merciless laughter and mockery.
Mary's head rang even lower, tears streaming down her face. "Excuse me, I need to use the restroom."
Mary ran to the restroom, breaking down in tears for several minutes before she composed herself, touched up her makeup, and then returned to continue the face-to-face conversation with Susan.
Susan could tell that Mary had been crying, but her proud expression remained unchanged. "Mary, you've just been William's plaything for the past seven years. You don't even know what his family does or who William is. And you still claim to understand him? Do you still think he loves you?"
"I am William's future. I have everything you don't. I've known William since we were children. I know everything about him, and we are engaged. Even though he left without saying goodbye, that engagement still stands."
"Mary, divorce William. Whatever you want, I can give you."
Susan spoke sentence by sentence, her presence increasingly imposing.
She pulled out a black card from her bag. "There's thirty million here, just for you to divorce William and another thirty million dollars after."
Mary gripped her skirt tightly, raising her head with a serious expression. "Susan, thank you for telling me all this, but I can also tell you that William is my husband and Sarah's father. No matter what you say, I will not give up on him."
After that, Mary stood up and walked out of the restaurant.
In her seat, Susan faced the evening breeze and looked at Golden Age Group, the highest skyscraper in the distance. "Mary, do you know that even that building belongs to William? How could a foolish woman like you ever be worthy of him?"
Susan coldly took out her phone and made a call. Her voice was icy. "Handle it neatly. I don't want to leave any evidence behind."
On the phone, a dark male voice replied. "Susan, rest assured that we handle our business flawlessly. Tonight, we'll make sure to dirty her up."
Susan hung up the phone, her eyes revealing a cold intent.
'Mary, don't blame me for this.'
'You shouldn't be with William. He belongs to me, Susan.'
'Anyone who is with William Jones, I will destroy with my own hands.'
Meanwhile, Mary walked down from the top floor, feeling weak and lonely, tears streaming down her face uncontrollably.
Why did William keep this from her?
She felt an unprecedented sense of hurt and deception.
Mary even began to doubt herself, wondering if she was just a plaything to William.
Susan's presence was overwhelming, and she was no match for her.
What should she do? How should she face all of this?
Mary felt utterly exhausted, wandering.
At that moment, a few thuggish-looking people closely followed her.
They had received the signal and had been waiting on the first floor for a long time. Now, they exchanged glances and quickly approached Mary.
"Beauty, you look quite nice, fair-skinned with long legs, just my type. Why are you alone? Do you want to have a few drinks with us?"
"Herman Anderson, this chick is really something. I like her legs!"
"What a shame, such a beauty crying like this. Who bullied you? Tell me, I'll take care of them for you."
The thugs harassed Mary with their words, and they even tried to pull her into a private room.
Many guests and servers passed by, angry at the scene, but none dared to intervene. Those thugs were notorious troublemakers here. Who knew how many times they'd been arrested?
Still, some wanted to play the hero, though their intentions could have been purer.
"What are you doing? Let her go, get out of here!" A man in a suit pointed and shouted with an air of bravado.
One of the thugs looked at the suited man with contempt and kicked him in the stomach, snarling. "Idiot! Can't you see we're busy here? Where do you get the confidence to play hero? Looking for trouble?"
The bark-not-bite suit man was kicked and sent flying, clutching his stomach and sweating heavily.
Other would-be helpers quickly scattered in fear.
"Beauty, let's go have some fun. I'll make sure you enjoy it," the thug leader said as he put his hand on Mary's shoulder.
Mary turned to the side, her face a mix of horror and anger. "Get off! Don't touch me!"
"So aloof? It is rather appealing. I'm curious if you're just as virtuous in bed.
Mary's face darkened. Although she was outnumbered and overpowered, she refused to let them insult her without a fight. She swung her handbag at them and shouted, "Get away! If you don't leave, I'm calling the police!"
The handbag chain hit the leader directly in the face, leaving a bright red mark.
That made Herman furious. He touched his face, yelling, "Damn it, bitch! You don't appreciate kindness, huh?"
Herman slapped Mary hard across the face.
That slap was powerful and heavy, knocking Mary to the ground. Her head hit the wall hard and she slumped down, feeling dazed.
The thugs laughed at each other.
"Damn, she even dares to defy me. Let's see how defiant she is in bed!" Herman sneered lewdly, "What are you waiting for? Get moving and take her to the private room. Do you bring the stuff? Make sure to get a clear shot."
Mary paled with fright and struggled constantly as the thugs approached her. "Don't come near me! Stay away! My husband is here. He won't let you get away with this!"
Now, all Mary could think of was William. If these men defiled her, how could she go on living?
"William? That good-for-nothing husband is going to save you? Where is he?" Herman laughed coldly, tilting his head to signal his men to get started.
"Let me go! William!" Mary struggled desperately.
"Damn it!" Herman slapped her several more times, hitting Mary so hard she was dazed and lost the ability to resist.
At that moment, William burst into the restaurant in a rush. When he saw the scene before him, his eyes widened in fury. The fury in his body was enough to burn through the restaurant!
"Let her go!"
A thunderous roar shook the hall.
Seeing Mary's condition, his eyes turned blood-red. He charged forward, grabbing two of the thugs and punching them hard in the face with brutal force!
His powerful kick to Herman's waist then sent the thugs flying forward, crashing to the ground with a thud and uncertain faith.
William's trembling hands wrapped around Mary. Seeing the injuries on her face, an uncontrollable murderous intent completely enveloped the restaurant.
"William, is what she said true? Is she your fiancée?"
Mary trembled as she leaned against William, tears falling silently like broken pearls.
She clutched William's hand tightly and her face streaked with tears. "Please, William. Tell me who you are?"
William took a deep breath, looked at Mary gently, and said solemnly, "Alright, I'll tell you."
