Chapter 294 Let's See Who Dares!
"Waiting for someone?" Algernon murmured, his heart skipping a beat. Where did William get such confidence?
"Algernon, I advise you not to get involved," William said and shrugged his shoulders, a sudden coldness flashing in his eyes. "If you really do this, can you live with your profession? Can you live with your conscience?"
"You! What did you say!" Algernon shouted furiously. How dare William insult him like this!
"I said, you're a scumbag!" William said calmly, without any fear.
A scumbag?
Algernon was completely enraged!
William was in a poor mood today due to the declining morals of society, perpetuated by individuals like Algernon.
How could honest people survive when those they rely on engage in such shady dealings?
Although the vast majority were embodiments of justice, a few unjust individuals could ruin their reputations!
Such scum should be kicked out!
Hannah looked at William in astonishment. This man dared to say such things, so this case must not be as simple as it seemed.
She fell into deep thought, feeling somewhat passive as Algernon had said he would handle it.
She was aware of some of the rules here and had seen a lot. Could it be that Algernon was really going to do something to William?
Algernon sneered, "I've been working for ten years, and I've seen hundreds of guys like you. You're still not honest and dare to slander me. You're really not giving up! Fine, I don't need to ask about your case anymore. I'll hand it over to the relevant authorities!"
Algernon closed his notebook, a sinister smile appearing on his face.
William, who remained calm throughout, now smiled slightly, a coldness flashing in his smile. "Algernon, are you sure you won't interrogate further? I advise you to ask properly to avoid wronging a good citizen."
At this point, William's sharpness was fully revealed, his words filled with threat. "Algernon, what if I say that if you leave now, you'll have to come back and beg me later?"
Algernon asserted, "Where does a brat like you get the nerve to say something like that? I'm the one in charge here!"
Algernon was very confident. The charges he had gathered were enough to lock William up for ten years!
He added, "Also, move him to another place! What happens next has nothing to do with us. Someone else will take over!"
Then, Algernon snorted and turned to leave.
Not long after, William was taken to a hotel suite.
Only William and Hannah were in the large hotel room.
Hannah couldn't understand why this man named William would confront Algernon so boldly. She asked, "Do you really not regret it at all?"
William smiled, glanced at the voluptuous woman, and said, "I know you're a good person, but he isn't. I don't want to challenge any authority, but given the current situation, I have no choice."
Hannah suddenly felt that William was a bit arrogant. Challenging authority? Did he have the capability?
Did he really think he was the protagonist with powerful backers?
She shook her head, feeling helpless as she watched over him tonight.
The scene shifted back to Jeffery.
"What I didn't finish last time, I will complete this time! William, you won't escape this time! Even the Jones Group from New York won't help!" Jeffery determined.
Completely blinded by hatred, Jeffery thought about killing William every moment. How could he let such a good opportunity slip by!
"This time, I will definitely destroy you!" he announced.
Jeffery took out his phone and dialed a number with a sinister look, gazing out the window. "Get it done quickly. Whatever methods you use, bring him out and cripple him in a secluded place!"
After hanging up, Jeffery's lips curled into a vicious smile. He had waited too long for this day. From now on, Mary would be his!
No one would compete with him anymore!
Meanwhile, Mary hurriedly got out of the car, eager to meet Jeffery.
William must not be harmed.
At the hotel entrance, several men quickly got out of the car.
The leading man, covered in a loose black jacket, exhaled a puff of smoke and spat, "When we go in, be quick and don't cause a scene. Everything's been arranged."
"Alaric, what's the rush this time, coming over in the middle of the night? Is it a big job?" one guy asked.
The leader, named Alaric Thornton, had a complex background and connections, specializing in shady dealings.
In their line of work, they did all sorts of things.
Alaric sneered, "Boss Ignatius Patterson got a new task for us to handle, and it's a strict order—at least cripple him! You all know Ignatius's temper. There will be plenty of benefits for everyone this time."
Another guy grinned and flattered, "Alright, we'll be counting on you, Alaric."
Alaric patted his shoulder and laughed. "No problem. If we do this job well, everyone will get at least this much!"
Saying that, Alaric held up one finger.
"One hundred thousand dollars?" the guy exclaimed, only to get a slap on the head from Alaric.
"Keep your voice down!" Alaric snapped. He glared at the guy and smirked, "When we go in, just bring the person out! No action here. Take him to the scrapyard in the South District!"
These men were experienced, understanding the stakes involved.
"Let's go!" Alaric commanded.
With that, the men filed into the hotel building. As soon as they entered, they flashed their IDs. Alaric, with his dark skin and a deep scar at the corner of his eye, led the way.
Alaric coldly asked, "Which room did those people check into earlier?"
There weren't many people in the hotel lobby at the moment, just two front desk clerks on duty. Seeing the imposing manner of these men, they were too scared to speak.
One of the female clerks quickly stood up and said, "I know. I'll take you there."
Their appearance suggested they were not to be trifled with.
Meanwhile, in the hotel room, Hannah was sitting by the sofa table, arms crossed. She was usually quite casual, so she didn't care about her posture. Seeing William's slightly nervous look, she chuckled and asked, "Why are you so nervous?"
The atmosphere was a bit awkward. William cleared his throat and said, "Nothing, just thirsty. Is there any water?"
Hannah smiled but didn't call him out.
Just then, the suite door was pushed open!
Alaric stormed in with two companions!
Hannah quickly stood up, frowning as she saw the unfamiliar faces. "Who are you? Who let you in!"
William looked up, understanding their intentions at once, his eyes coldly scanning the three men.
So they came this quickly?
The people behind were really impatient.
Was it Jessica or Jeffery?
William sneered inwardly but remained calm.
Alaric glanced at Hannah and was momentarily stunned by her beauty.
He directly said, "I'm Alaric. Our boss Ignatius sent us to take someone, William!"
"Take him?" Hannah said coldly, "Who are you guys?"
These men had a strong gangster vibe.
"We're following Ignatius's orders. If you have any questions, ask Percival!"
Alaric glanced at Hannah with a hint of contempt in his eyes, not expecting her to be so clueless.
Tadhg hurried in, tugging at Hannah's arm. "Hannah, they're with Ignatius, and Percival has been informed."
"So what if they're with Ignatius? Does that give them the right to be rude and take people away?" Hannah said, her temper flaring. She crossed her arms and stood in front of William, saying coldly, "If you want to take him, bring Percival's order. Otherwise, no way!"
William felt a bit touched by Hannah's stance. She had her principles.
Alaric's eyes turned cold, like those of a venomous snake fixated on Hannah. He said coldly, "Are you Hannah? You'd better not to obstruct us. This is a direct order from Ignatius! He said if anyone obstructs, take them too!"
Take them too?
It was a threat!
Hannah's face darkened, and her brows furrowed. "I'd like to see who dares to take him today!"
