Chapter 114: Actually, I'm a Magnate Born With A Silver Spoon

William was overwhelmed by various cold stares and sneers.

That was a class reunion, a gathering place for flattery and mockery.

That was why William didn't want to come.

What kind of reunion was it? It was all fake. Male and female classmates had affairs. Male classmates flattered each other.

"William, you came without letting me know so I could welcome you. I invited you twice and you didn't come, but you came when Lori invited you. Are you disrespecting me?" The one speaking was Stanley, who had already stood up and walked over. He put his arm around William's shoulder, appearing very enthusiastic.

William looked at Stanley indifferently. ‘Has Stanley become this hypocritical now? When did Stanley ever invite me? Wasn't it Alfonso who invited me?’ he thought.

Walking to the center, Stanley handed William a glass of red wine and said, "Come on. It's rare to see William today. Let's raise a glass to celebrate. He was the star of our school before."

The group originally had no feelings towards William. They heard that William had been doing poorly these past few years, nowhere near as dazzling as he once was.

But since Stanley said so, everyone raised their glasses to curry favor with Stanley.

William sneered, drank the wine, and found a corner to sit down.

But clearly, Stanley wouldn't let the rare opportunity slip by.

He signaled to Walter beside him, who immediately understood and said loudly, "Hey William, where have you been these past few years? I couldn't reach you on the phone. Did you change your number? Alfonso invited you to the reunion, and you didn't come. Are you looking down on us old classmates?"

Walter knew Stanley's intention was to humiliate William, or rather, to make him uncomfortable.

As soon as he said this, everyone started criticizing William.

"Yeah, William, have you become so successful that you look down on us old classmates?"

"Successful? Back in school, I knew he was just a show-off with no real talent."

"Don't joke about William. Among us now, who is more impressive than Stanley?"

The group kept belittling William while flattering Stanley.

Stanley sat comfortably in the main seat, waving his hand and saying, "You all flatter me. I just started a small company."

But the smile on Stanley's face betrayed his inner pride.

Especially seeing William sitting silently in the corner, Stanley felt extremely pleased.

Back then, William was the star. They were all on the sidelines.

Unexpectedly, everything had turned. Today, he was the star.

Stanley was so proud and very pleased.

"William, we're talking to you. Why aren't you answering? So cold?" Walter said coldly, slightly annoyed.

William was just sitting there calmly.

‘Is William looking down on me?’ Walter pondered.

William chuckled and said, "Nothing much. I've been busy in the past few years. I apologize to everyone here. Besides, I'm here today, aren't I?"

William knew exactly what kind of people they were.

He had mastered these small tricks at the age of eight.

Stanley laughed and said, "Alright. It's rare for us to gather. Let's have a drink."

After a glass of wine, Stanley suddenly asked, "William, I heard you started a business after graduation. How's it going?"

William shook his head and said, "Failed."

Walter immediately laughed mockingly. "No big deal. By the way, how are you and Mary doing? I heard you two are getting a divorce?"

The whole room fell silent.

Everyone perked up their ears.

Mary, a name that sounded so dreamy, was the goddess of many during their college days.

Unexpectedly, she married William.

Stanley also darkened his face slightly, closely watching William's every move.

"That's none of your business. We're doing fine," William said with a faint smile.

Walter chuckled.

Stanley immediately said, "Why didn't you bring Mary? She was the school beauty. Why didn't you bring her to a reunion?"

Stanley really wanted to see Mary, to prove to her in person that her choice was wrong.

He was more successful than William.

William was silent for a moment and said, "She's busy with work."

The few of them exchanged glances, their eyes full of mockery towards William.

‘Why does William hide his divorce?’ They thought.

Stanley got up, sat next to William, patted his shoulder, and said, "I asked around before. I heard you're delivering food now. It can't be that bad, can it?"

Here came the main topic.

William raised an eyebrow, a slight smile playing on his lips. He said, "Yeah, just trying to make a living. Delivering food is no big deal. I really envy you who are all successful."

Since Stanley wanted to find a sense of superiority from him, William decided to let him have it. After all, he didn't lack it.

Besides, these things were really meaningless.

Stanley smirked and said, "It's okay, delivering food is fine too. Keep working hard."

William shrugged and said, "It's alright, just enough to get by."

Walter, hearing this, laughed and said, "William, Stanley recently started a company and is hiring staff. Why don't you consider it? He won't treat you badly."

Stanley grinned, sitting there confidently. He sipped his wine, waiting for William to ask him for help.

He never thought there would be a day when William would ask him for help!

"Yeah, William, this is a rare opportunity. Even I want to go. Stanley, what do you think of me?" a classmate said enviously.

"I want to go too. I heard Stanley's company has a monthly turnover of hundreds of thousands of dollars with dozens of employees!"

Lori, full of admiration, sat close to Stanley, constantly snuggling and acting coy.

There were only a dozen people there. Initially, everyone was minding their own business. But now, hearing Walter's conversation, everyone became eager, looking at Stanley with anticipation.

Many of them came to the reunion with their own intentions.

That was reality.

They were all ordinary people, just looking for a better opportunity.

There was nothing wrong with that, and no need to despise it.

"Stanley, are you hiring staff?"

"Stanley, what about me? I used to be a secretary. I can do anything."

Amy, nearby, quickly moved closer to Stanley, her big eyes blinking.

He was a rich person!

She had begged Lori to bring her today, just to cozy up to someone like Stanley.

As long as he had money, it was worth it.

A group of people kept chattering, eagerly wanting Stanley to give them a chance.

Stanley smiled and said, "I just started a new company. I am indeed hiring, but I only need two people. If you want to come, just send your resume to my email. I'll take care of old classmates."

Listening to their flattery, Stanley felt very pleased but didn't let it go to his head.

Employment couldn’t be arranged just because of relationships.

It depended on their abilities.

Otherwise, Stanley's company wouldn't be thriving.

"William, with your food delivery job, how much can you earn in a month? Hurry up and ask Stanley. If he's in a good mood, he might let you in. I heard the salary is quite high," Walter said enviously.

Hearing this, everyone was shocked again.

Their eyes became even more eager.

However, there were only two positions.

"Don't listen to him. William, if you need money, you can come to me. I'll save a spot for you. For Mary's sake, I won't treat you badly. Just treat me to a meal with Mary sometime." Stanley said with a smug smile.

Now, in Stanley's eyes, he and William were on different worlds.

Stanley really looked down on William, a low-level worker delivering food.

What he said earlier was a polite expression. Whether he would hire him or not depended entirely on Stanley's mood.

If William seized this opportunity, Stanley would use it to get closer to Mary.

After all, he hadn't seen her in many years and wondered how she was doing.

Thinking about it, Stanley unconsciously licked his dry lips.

"Thanks, I'll think about it," William said with a faint smile.

"William, don't miss this opportunity. Stanley had given you a special privilege, and you still need to think about it?" Lori was frantically winking at William.

‘Is this guy stupid?’ she thought.

As for William starting a company, Lori had long forgotten.

Lori didn't believe that someone like William could start a company. He probably hired actors to save dignity in front of her.

Then, a group of people began to criticize William again!

"William, don't be ungrateful. This is Stanley personally giving you a chance!"

"This idiot, he still needs to think about it. He doesn’t deserve this opp!"

"A loser is a loser. No wonder Mary wants to divorce him. He doesn't even know how to seize an opportunity when given one."

Facing all these sneers, William felt helpless. After thinking for a moment, he said, "Well, I really don't need it because I am actually..."
