Chapter 205 I'm the One You Can't Mess With

Using William's wife and kids to threaten him was a terrible idea and only sped up Xavier's downfall.

Seeing William's expression change, Xavier got excited and moved forward to gloat.

But William, hands in his pockets, kicked Xavier hard in the chest and stomach.

Xavier hit the ground flat on his back.

Before he could react, two bodyguards in black pinned him down with riot batons, yelling, "Don't move."

Lying there, Xavier sneered, raising his hands, "What? You think this show can scare me? This is Lindwood City, my city. You better leave now, and we can forget this ever happened."

Xavier was nervous; he couldn't afford to provoke William but didn't want to lose respect either.

William walked over, stomped on Xavier's chest, and leaned in with a sinister smile. "Xavier, don't think I can't deal with you. What if I told you I'm the one you really can't mess with?"

Ten minutes earlier, at the Smith family's old house, a few thugs with long knives had sneaked in.

They hid in the bushes, and the leader sneered, "Now!"

They rushed out, but suddenly, a few figures emerged from the darkness.

A burly figure stepped into the light, smiling cruelly.

Craig looked at the thugs and said, "Mr. Jones knew you'd come. I've been waiting for you."

Knowing the enemy helped one to win.

When William decided to go against the Hayes family, he planned everything out.

The thugs were startled when they saw Craig, Alan's top enforcer.

"Run."

They tried to flee, but a team of bodyguards in black combat uniforms rushed out, shouting, "Drop your weapons! Get down!"

In one swift move, all of Xavier's men were defeated.

Craig glanced back at the Smith family's old house and muttered, "Mary's lucky to have a husband like William."

They left without looking back, leaving a few guards behind.

Meanwhile, William stared at Xavier with a calmness that made Xavier squirm. He was commanding.

Xavier had only seen this kind of presence in one man—his backer.

But now, it felt like even his backer didn't have the aura William was giving off. It was like facing a vast ocean.

Just moments ago, William seemed like an ordinary guy, but now he was dominating. One look from him made Xavier's soul tremble. He was terrifying.

"Who are you, really?" Xavier asked, feeling weak and shaky.

"Who am I?" William smirked. "I'm the one you can never cross in your lifetime!"

Xavier felt sick. He looked around; all his men were pinned down. Private helicopters hovered above and Cadillacs full of bodyguards were behind them.

He knew he was doomed. He never expected William to be a nobody with such a big background. Hiring private helicopters and well-trained bodyguards meant he was definitely somebody.

Who had Isaac provoked? The Hayes family was courting death by crossing this man!

"Mr. Jones, let's talk. Let's sit down and discuss this," Xavier said, almost giving up, with a fawning smile.

William glanced at him indifferently.

Craig walked out from the crowd, respectfully saying, "Mr. Jones, it's done. Mary is safe."

Hearing this, William sighed in relief, pressing down harder with his foot. He casually took a gun from a bodyguard, unlocked the safety, and aimed it at Xavier's head.

The air grew tense.

Hearing Craig, Xavier knew his plan had failed.

Seeing William unlock the safety, Xavier's face turned red with tension. "Mr. Jones! Mr. Jones, let me go! We can talk!"

Bang!

Xavier was completely terrified, his eyes wide open. For the first time, he felt death so close.

After a moment, Xavier realized he wasn't dead. Instead, he felt excruciating pain in his ear and realized he was deaf in his right ear.

The crowd on the street erupted in chatter. They hadn't seen the core scene but watched as all of Xavier's men were loaded into police cars.

"Good! Justice is served!"

"Yeah, Xavier is finished!"

"Oh my God, what did I just see?"

The crowd buzzed with excitement. Tonight was destined to be shocking. Xavier, who had ruled Lindwood City for over a decade, was taken away, and all his men were arrested.

"Did you see that? Who is that guy? How can he be so powerful?" some onlookers wondered, eyeing William.

"I didn't see clearly, but he must be a big shot. I've never seen anything like this."

A few people were pressing Xavier to leave.

Resigned to his fate, Xavier suddenly glared at William and roared, "You can't arrest me! I have a backer! The Hayes family will last forever!"

"Wait," William said.

Xavier was brought back, his face twisted in a sinister smile. "Ha, now you're scared? Let me tell you, the backer of the Hayes family is not someone you can cross! You can't imagine who is behind me. I may not know who you are or why you can make such a scene, but in front of my backer, you're nothing but an ant!"

'An ant? Very well!' William thought.

William hadn't been this excited in a long time. Seven years later, he had almost forgotten the one who had crossed the Jones family. Today, he would show them what he was capable of.

"A backer? Tell me, who is it? I want to see if I can cross them!" William's gaze was cold.

Meanwhile, Kyle, far away at the Hayes Group, had been having a headache since returning from the banquet. Isaac had dared to take credit for Mr. Jones's achievements. Moreover, he was now very sure that Mary's husband, William, was that Mr. Jones!

'Oh, Heaven! A man with so many men under his command is willing to play the role of a nobody?' he thought.

"Mr. Hayes! Something's off!" Suddenly, the office door was slammed open, and a tall, extremely sexy woman ran in, panting heavily.

"Didn't I say not to disturb me?" Kyle was annoyed, glaring before asking, "What happened?"

"Mr. Hayes, the house is surrounded; Isaac brought back a hitman," the secretary said anxiously.

"What? A hitman!" Kyle was stunned!

But that wasn't all.

"And... and..." The female secretary gulped.

"And what?!"

"Xavier was also captured, and all the men he brought were arrested! The other side even mobilized private helicopters and a team of well-trained bodyguards, saying they must destroy Xavier and the Hayes family tonight!" The secretary finally finished, taking a breath.

Kyle jumped up from his chair, fists clenched, face red. 'Damn it! Who dares to cross the Hayes family?' he thought.

"Who are they?" Kyle asked coldly.

Such a big move indicated it mustn't be a nobody. Who had Isaac crossed? Having Mr. Jones was already enough, and now he even provoked someone who could hire private helicopters.

Kyle was furious!

His phone rang. The urgent ringing startled Kyle, cold sweat dripping from his forehead. It was an unknown number.

Kyle thought for a moment and answered. "Hello, who is this?"

"It's me, William Jones."

From the other end came a voice as cold as ice.

Kyle seemed to sense something. His eyes opened wide, he immediately begging for mercy, "Mr. Jones, I'm sorry. My son and brother offended you. I'll come over right away. Please let them go."

"Too late; I'm calling to inform you that the Hayes family will be destroyed in five minutes!" William glanced at the time and said calmly, "You can take a look outside."

Kyle reflexively went to the window and saw a large group of people from the business, finance, and regulatory departments arriving.

"Mr. Hayes, something's wrong; they're here to audit and check taxes."

Kyle was so scared that he fell back into his chair, despair flashing in his eyes. The sound of hurried footsteps filled his ears, and Kyle saw several men and women in suits burst in.

The leading man directly threw out a search warrant and said, "Kyle Hayes, you are suspected of interest transfer, tax evasion, and illegal acquisition of trade secrets. You are now officially under arrest. You need to come with us."

Kyle panicked, quickly taking out his phone and dialing a number. "Help!"
