Chapter 44 Identity Revealed
On the phone, a rough male voice immediately sounded, angrily saying, "Which audacious lad dares to provoke you?"
"Craig, you have to stand up for me." Lisa cried, looking pitiful, which was quite heart-wrenching.
"Alright, stop crying, tell me. I'll take care of him for you!"
On the other end of the phone, a burly man was dining at BCG restaurant with a few friends.
It was none other than Craig Morris, bare-armed.
Craig had a fiery temper by nature, hence his particularly irritable disposition.
Lisa was his lover, so anyone who provoked Lisa was essentially disrespecting Craig.
Therefore, he had to take action!
Whoever it was, they needed to know that no one could provoke Craig!
About half an hour later, Lisa arrived at BCG restaurant with a group of sisters.
At this moment, Lisa still had a desolate look, albeit slightly touched up with bruises around her eyes and mouth.
Upon meeting, she clung to Craig, crying and saying. "Craig, look, they beat me like this, and you must seek justice for me!"
Seeing the injuries on Lisa's face, Craig exploded in anger, slamming the table, causing glasses to jump and wine to spill all over, roaring, "Damn it! Who the hell dares to be so arrogant? Don't you tell him that you are my woman, Craig?"
Craig was truly furious.
Lisa was beautiful, with such a lovely face. How could he not be angry seeing her hurt?
It wasn't just about the physical assault. It was a matter of pride.
Lisa tearfully said. "I do tell him, but he said something."
Lisa pretended to stutter in fear.
Craig frowned and demanded. "What do he say? Speak!"
Lisa said, “He called Craig a paper tiger. If he dares, tell him to come find me, and I'll knock out his tiger teeth myself.”
Of course, this was all fabricated along the way.
The other sisters nodded in agreement and chimed in.
"Yes, Craig, that guy doesn't even regard you."
"We must teach him a lesson! His name is William Jones."
"I know where they are. They went to Victory Grand Hotel for dinner."
The group of women chattered excitedly.
Filled with rage, Craig suddenly stood up, kicking over chairs in his fury, shouting. "Damn it! I have been with Mr. Jordan for seven or eight years, and this is the first time someone has dared to disrespect me! Fine, Victory Grand Hotel it is, you guys; gather people, and grab weapons! Bring that disrespectful guy to me!"
Craig, of course, didn't know William Jones.
Mr. Jones?
Unfortunately, Craig knew Mr. Jones, but not his real name.
Moreover, even if he knew Mr. Jones as William Jones, there were plenty of people with the same name in the world.
A loud roar.
The seven or eight brothers in the private room all stood up, brimming with anger as they stormed out of the room.
Craig wouldn't personally intervene. It would tarnish his reputation.
For such trivial matters, it was best to let his subordinates handle it.
Seeing the enraged Craig, Lisa couldn't help but smirk inwardly, thinking, ‘William, you're in trouble!’
Daring to provoke her, she would definitely make him pay, strip him to the bone!
Meanwhile, on Mary's side, when she arrived at the company in the morning, she sensed a heavy atmosphere within.
Everyone seemed to be looking at her with suspicion, whispering quietly.
It wasn't until Chairman Larry Hall called for a meeting that Mary learned about the major incident in the company.
"Have you heard? Anthony from the Marketing Department has been fired!"
"What? Anthony was fired? No way, he's been with the company for so many years, how could he be fired?"
"You don't know? I heard that a few days ago. Anthony got into a conflict with a big shot at Star Club and was beaten half to death on the spot. He's still lying in the hospital. And that big shot issued a stern warning, anyone who dares to use Anthony will only lead the company to bankruptcy."
"Damn! Who is this person, so powerful? Tell us more."
The office was abuzz with gossip.
Mary listened attentively, but her mind was elsewhere.
She believed that William was able to save her that day because of his connection to that influential figure.
Therefore, she was eager to learn more about that person.
Unfortunately, no one knew the identity of the mysterious figure.
But the more mysterious it was, the more Mary wanted to find out.
Who could it be?
Throughout the day in her office, Mary was distracted, pondering several times before deciding to call William.
"Hello, darling, what's up?" the familiar voice came from the phone.
Mary hesitated, bit her lip, and asked, "William, I want to know how you rescued me from Star Club that day?"
It was a difficult question to ask.
After all, that day she had almost been assaulted by Loren Schneider for the sake of her business.
It left a shadow on Mary.
William had already arrived at Victory Grand Hotel with Melissa Clark when he suddenly received Mary's question. He felt uneasy about it.
So, he lied and said, "That day, the boss of that club got into a conflict with someone else, and I rushed in to rescue you."
"Is it that simple?" Mary asked in disbelief, clearly not convinced.
"Yes, don't you believe me?" William chuckled.
Mary frowned and thought for a moment, and replied, "Alright, I understand."
With that, she hung up the phone and sat alone, staring blankly at the documents.
Although it wasn't intentional, she was indeed unharmed thanks to someone's intervention.
Who could that mysterious figure be?
In the company meeting room, Larry sat at the head, looking at the executives below, and coughed a few times before saying. "Regarding Mr. Thomas's resignation, I'm sure everyone is aware. Don't speculate, due to personal health reasons, he can no longer serve as the company's Marketing Department General Manager. Therefore, I have decided that Mary will take over as the General Manager of our Marketing Department."
As soon as the words fell, thunderous applause filled the meeting room.
Mary was still lost in thought, constantly thinking about the mysterious figure, until someone beside her reminded her, prompting her to stand up in a fluster. "Thank you for your trust, Mr. Hall, I will work hard."
In fact, she had been informed of her promotion to General Manager by Mr. Hall earlier in the morning.
So, Mary was mentally prepared for it.
After the meeting, Mary returned to her office. Shortly after, Donna Martin burst in angrily, accusing, "Mary, why are you the general manager? You must have slept with someone! Otherwise, how could you possibly become the General Manager? That was supposed to be my position, you slut!"
Donna Martin was furious, and her efforts to curry favor had gone to waste.
Moreover, she had just lost her job.
The HR department had informed her that she was fired.
So, she stormed into Mary's office to vent her anger.
Mary's expression turned cold, and she said sternly, "Donna Martin, do you not know what you've done? Whether I am qualified for this position does not need your judgment. Now, get out!"
Mary was feeling very annoyed.
"Mary, just became the General Manager and you're already showing your true colors, you slut!" Donna Martin didn't care. She shouted unreasonably until the security guards arrived to escort her out of the office while she continued to make a scene in the office area. "I'm telling you. Mary is a bitch. She sleeps around for business deals. She's a bitch!"
"Let me go!"
"Mary,I won't let you off the hook!"
It wasn't until Donna Martin was kicked out of the company that Mary picked up her bag, took public transportation, and arrived at Star Club.
She wanted to inquire about the mysterious person who appeared that day.
However, upon arriving at Star Club, she discovered that Star Club had been razed to the ground!
All that remained were a few bulldozers and construction workers at the site.
"Hello, do you need any help?"
Coincidentally, a gentle and sweet voice came from behind.
Mary turned around to see a tall and slender woman walking towards her with graceful steps.
She was truly perfect, with a great figure, flawless skin, and a smile that exuded intelligence.
It was Patricia Evans.
"Mary, why are you here?" Patricia Evans looked puzzled after seeing Mary's face clearly.
Mary was taken aback, surprised that the other person recognized her.
"Do you know me?" Mary asked.
"Of course, Mary, our Boss specifically instructed us to take good care of you. " Patricia Evans smiled warmly, giving off a refreshing vibe.
Mary's heart skipped a beat and she asked. "Excuse me, is your Boss the person who saved me that day?"
Patricia Evans nodded and said with a smile, "Mary, you're joking. Don't you know our Boss?"
At the same time, Patricia Evans was puzzled. Weren't Mr. Jones and her a couple?
Mary smiled awkwardly. How could she know the other person? She hadn't even seen what the person looked like.
"Can you give me your Boss's phone number? I want to thank him in person. " Mary requested hesitantly.
Patricia Evans found it strange but agreed. "Of course."
She took out her phone and found the contact labeled as Mr. Jones's number.
Mary glanced at the unfamiliar number but her eyes lit up at the last digits, 0513, her birthday!
Was it a coincidence?
After a moment of hesitation, Mary dialed the number, feeling extremely nervous.
"As you pass through my world, I've lived through my prime, please move forward without looking back, the one waiting for you at the finish line will be me."
Ringtone!
Her favorite song to listen to.
And this was the song William sang when he proposed to her!
Another coincidence?
Mary inexplicably became nervous, with William's image flashing through her mind repeatedly.
Could it be him?
At the same time, William stood at the entrance of Victory Grand Hotel, and his phone suddenly rang. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a phone, but it wasn't the one ringing.
It was another one.
He took it out and saw the caller ID.
William was stunned. His eyes wide open!
How could this be!
This number had never called before!
He had only saved it in his contacts.
Because he had never mentioned this phone to Mary.
And only George Clark, Alan, and Patricia Evans knew this number!
How could Mary be calling?
Had his identity been exposed?
