Chapter 53 Let's Get Divorced.

William rushed into the hospital and saw Mary lying on the bed, her face pale.
The hospital room was crowded with people.
His mother-in-law, Margaret, and father-in-law, Tyler, both looked at William with displeasure, as if wishing this good-for-nothing would disappear forever.
Nancy and her parents were also there, each looking at William with strange eyes, as if he had committed a grave error, muttering curses under their breath.
"How is Mary?" William shouted, running towards the bed.

A crisp slap sound.
Margaret angrily slapped William's face, her complexion turning sour with cold eyes; she scolded.,"You have the nerve to come here? Look what you've done to Mary! If anything happens to my daughter, I will never let you off!"
Margaret pushed and shoved William, continuously hitting him, venting all her resentment on him.
William could only take it; he couldn't fight back or retort.
Tyler gave William a cold glare, pulled Margaret away, and with the authority of a father-in-law, scolded William, "William, we find your presence unbearable. Please proceed with divorcing my daughter at your  discretion. we shall not interfere your things. Regarding Sarah, take her with you, but refrain from obstructing my daughter's path. Besides this matter, there is naught else I wish to discuss with you. A mere nod from you today, and I shall cover Sarah's medical expenses amounting to half a million, After all, she is my granddaughter."
The atmosphere in the hospital room was very oppressive.
Everyone was waiting for William's decision.
But William remained silent.
He would never divorce Mary.
At that moment, Nancy sneered with sarcasm, "Cousin-in-law, I think you should agree. Mary has suffered with you for three years; it's time to let go. There are so many men after her; if you really love her, you should give her a better future. Someone like you will never be able to give my cousin a good life."
Good-for-nothing!
Still standing there like a block of wood, not uttering a word.
This man was truly a disgrace.
Especially thinking about what happened today at the BMW motorcycle dealership, she looked down on William even more.
Nancy's parents also muttered a few curses,  "William, it's not a solution for you to continue like this, it will drag Mary down. How about this, you divorce Mary, and I'll give you a hundred thousand dollars, as medical expenses for Sarah, how about that?"
Upon hearing this, Nancy's mother immediately gave her husband a look, tugged at his arm, and muttered with a dark face,  "What are you talking about? We don't have that spare money. Mind your own business first. Don't make decisions for me here."
After muttering, Nancy's mother said coldly,  "William, We don't have that much money, don't get your hopes up, your uncle is drunk."
Of course, William wouldn't think too much.
He knew their true colors all too well.
When Sarah was sick, and he borrowed money, the look this woman gave him, he still remembers clearly to this day.
Several people, one after another, didn't take William seriously at all.
They all insulted him a few times.
He was the most detestable person in the family, someone everyone wanted to get rid of.
William stood there, enduring the criticism, silent, just tightly clenching his fists, looking at Mary on the bed.
Taking a deep breath, William finally raised his eyebrows and said, "I will not divorce Mary. I don't agree with this, and Mary wouldn't agree either."
"Not agree?"
Margaret's tone instantly rose, pointing at William's nose, cursing brazenly, "What qualification do you possess to utter such words in my presence? You and Mary must part ways! The moment she awakens, I shall escort her to the civil registry office. This household, with you but without me—such is the essence of simplicity!"
After speaking, Margaret's face was cold, her eyes full of anger.
She had tolerated this good-for-nothing William for three years, and had been looking forward to something for three years.
But the result? A good-for-nothing was still a good-for-nothing.
He will never make it to the stage.
If this continues, Mary will surely be dragged down to death by this father and daughter.
No, for her daughter's happiness and for her own peaceful old age, Margaret must settle this matter tonight.
Matthew was such a good young man; Mary didn't like him, but Margaret does.
Even if Matthew wasn't suitable, that Jeffery tonight wasn't bad either, and he was Mary's classmate.
His family was in the jade business, very wealthy, and a well-known figure in Lindwood City.
Such a man was worthy of being her son-in-law, could allow her to enjoy her later years.
William was at a loss for words, not expecting Margaret to be so aggressive and unreasonable.
"Mom, I." William choked up.

Margaret slapped him again, cursing fiercely, "Don't call me mom, I don't have a son-in-law like you!"
He still had the face to call her mom?
Margaret was really furious!
Just hearing William's call made her feel uncomfortable as if her body was covered in thorns.
William stopped talking, and the atmosphere in the hospital room became very heavy.
At this time, Jeffery, who had gone out, also came back, seeing everyone there, including William.
"You still have the face to come here?" Jeffery angrily grabbed William's collar. "Mary was harmed by you, what are you doing here?"
Jeffery didn't want to see this good-for-nothing William here.
If it wasn't for him trying to show off, would Mary be like this?
William fiercely shook off Jeffery's hand, staring at him with a dark look, "Jeffery, what's it to you? Mary is my wife, get out!"
In front of his in-laws, William had no choice.
But in front of Jeffery, he absolutely could not show weakness.
"shut up!"
Tyler spoke up at this time, pointing at the hospital room door, and yelled at William, "The one who should go out is you!"
Nancy silently watched from the side, playing with her phone and reporting the situation to her friends in the group, her mouth full of mockery.
She even secretly took a few photos and sent them to the group.
For a moment, the group was full of ridicule.
Such a good-for-nothing, really suffocating to the extreme.
Jeffery adjusted his suit collar, full of mockery and pride. "William, I really look down on you. If you were responsible, you would make a decision today. As long as you divorce Mary, I will cover all of Sarah 's medical expenses, including her subsequent treatment."
Jeffery was very arrogant, his demeanor haughty.
In front of William, he had enough confidence to be arrogant.
William's brows were tightly furrowed, his heart full of coldness.
Jeffery, too much!
At this time, Mary was on the bed.
Everyone crowded around her, very concerned.
But only William was excluded.
Even if he wanted to approach, Margaret gave him angry glances.
"Mary, how are you feeling? Is there anywhere uncomfortable? Tell mom, I'll find a doctor." Margaret was very concerned, holding Mary's hand, her worried expression very genuine.
"Mary, are you okay, tell me what you need, I'll go buy it for you." Jeffery seemed extremely concerned.
Nancy stood on the side, also feigning concern and asked, "Mary, are you okay?"
Mary slowly sat up, leaning against the headboard, her expression listless, very weak.
The tearing pain in her abdomen made it difficult for her to even speak.
"Where's William?" The first thing Mary asked when she opened her mouth was this.
"Why do you mention that good-for-nothing?" Margaret then cursed under her breath.
Her own daughter was really stupid, the first person she asked about after waking up was William.
It was infuriating!
Mary's cheeks throbbed with pain, her complexion poor, she said, "Where is he?"
At this time, Margaret couldn't say anything more.
William stepped forward, under Margaret's scrutinizing gaze, standing by the bed.
"Margaret, you go out first, I have something to say to William." Mary said weakly.
Margaret didn't want to agree, but seeing Mary's complexion, she had no choice but to comply.
Before leaving, she glared fiercely at William, warning, "You'd better bring it up to Mary yourself, otherwise don't blame me, for being rude to you."
After speaking, several people left.
Only William and Mary were left in the hospital room.
William sat by the bed, very nervous, hesitating about how to start.
Mary glanced out the window at the night sky, and after a long while, she asked weakly, "William, I'm sorry. You know my parents' temper, and I hope you won't blame them."
William nodded, smiling awkwardly. "Mary, don't be like this. They are also my parents, of course, I won't blame them."
Tears glistened in the corners of Mary's eyes, she sniffled, silently wiped away the tears, and then seemed to make a great decision.
Everything that happened tonight was unforgettable for Mary.
That William had changed, become someone she could no longer see through.
She turned her head, her eyes red, looking at the bewildered William, and said, "William, let's get a divorce."
