Chapter 192 Who Are You Exactly?
"William, what are you doing?" Terry shouted angrily. Since when was it William's turn to speak? If he offended Dylan, he would definitely be in big trouble.
"Do you know who he is? It is Mr. Brooks from the Jones Group in Imperial City. You're being too reckless. Apologize to Mr. Brooks immediately." Terry added.
He was anxious that William seemed to have no filter on what he said.
It was Dylan who from the Jones Group in Imperial City.
He managed a group worth billions of dollars, so one could imagine Dylan's influence and connections.
"Are you crazy, William?" Dorothy exclaimed, almost petrified after hearing Terry.
William was too bold. Dylan was actually the chairman of the Jones Group. What right did he have to meddle here?
If they offended Dylan, everyone in this room would be in trouble.
So, Dorothy and Anna glared at William, who was still eating, with fire in their eyes. They wished they could throw him out the window to avoid further trouble.
With such a famous person standing right in front of Margaret, she was too scared to speak.
The chairman of the Jones Group?
Isn't that Mr. Jones's group.
Could Mr. Jones also be in this restaurant? That would be amazing.
Mary's heart skipped a beat when she heard Terry reveal Dylan's identity. She immediately tugged at William, signaling him to stop talking.
He was someone who invested in her company. They couldn't afford to offend him.
If Dylan withdrew his investment because of William's reckless words, it would be a disaster.
Dylan heard the commotion and frowned. He was about to scold them when he saw William casually eating at the back of the crowd, and he was instantly shocked.
'Isn't that Mr. Jones? He's actually here,' Dylan thought.
He put on a flattering and respectful smile immediately. As he was about to rush over to fawn, William stopped him with words.
"Mr. Brooks, fancy meeting you here. How about we finish eating our meal first? You're not in a hurry, right?" William said calmly, his eyes signaling Dylan to stop.
Dylan, having been in the Jones family for many years, quickly understood William's intention. William wanted to handle this quietly.
He smiled, then half-bowed to William as he said, "Yes, no rush.. I didn't expect to see you here. Then I won't disturb you. My apologize, everyone. We'll switch to another room."
Everyone in the room was stunned. They stared at each other, completely clueless about what had just happened.
William managed to make Dylan switch rooms with just a few words, which was unbelievable.
That was the chairman of the Jones Group, who managing a billion-dollar group.
What's going on with William? Was this the same loser they knew?
Could it be that he knew Dylan?
Margaret and Dorothy both suspected it, scanning William with curious eyes.
They all wondered inwardly, 'Who exactly is William?'
After Dylan left, everyone looked at William differently, eager to know more.
Terry turned to look at William, who was still sitting calmly, filled with doubt. Dylan had changed his mind with just one word from him.
That was the Jones Group from Imperial City! A top-tier national group and a major conglomerate!
Who would dared to disrespect them? That's practically asking for trouble!
"William, I didn't expect you to know Mr. Brooks. Why didn't you say something earlier?" Terry said with a smile, hiding jealousy and suspicion in his expression.
William smiled faintly, then looked around at everyone's eager and suspicious eyes.
"Alright, I admit, I do know Mr. Brooks, but it's not as exaggerated as you think. I met him back home when I used to do business with my dad. Back then, Mr. Brooks wasn't the chairman of the Jones Group. I didn't expect that after all these years, he would be doing so well," William said with a tone of wistful sigh.
Terry frowned, still a bit skeptical, but it did seem plausible.
Otherwise, how could William know Dylan?
Dorothy and Anna breathed a sigh of relief and joked, "I thought it was something impressive. Turns out you knew him from before. But I have to say, Dylan is really polite, not arguing with us. Honestly, we should have just given him the room to leave a good impression."
Anna chimed in, "Exactly, I thought the same. But William had to show off. Now Mr. Brooks is gone."
Margaret was fuming inside since she thought it was all William's fault.
Knowing someone was his fault. Not giving up the private room was also his fault.
In short, because William was useless, everything was his fault.
"William, If you encounter such a situation in the future, inform us first. Don't just blurt things out," Margaret said discontentedly.
However, she was now curious.
What was William's family background?
He knew someone like Mr. Brooks, and his family must have some influence.
Could it be that they had fallen on hard times?
It seemed to make sense.
Mary, however, had different thoughts. She looked at William with a burning gaze.
Was William hiding something from her?
Ever since William told her that his family ran a restaurant, he seemed to have changed a lot.
Today's encounter with Dylan was just one example.
Was it really that simple?
"What's wrong, Mary? What are you thinking about?" William turned around and saw Mary staring at him, his heart skipped a beat.
Had he been exposed?
Mary smiled with her curved eyes, then said, "Nothing, just wondering about my mysterious husband. You seem to have a lot of secrets."
Had Mary figured something out? William felt a bit flustered and quickly poured himself a drink to calm his nerves, then said, "You're overthinking it. I'm just an ordinary person, your husband and Sarah's dad."
Mary nodded and didn't say anything more.
As the meal was wrapping up, William told Mary he was going to the restroom, then he went downstairs to another private room.
Dylan had sent him a text earlier saying that they were waiting for him in the private room.
"Mr. Jones," Dylan, along with several others, greeted him respectfully at the door.
William waved them in to talk inside.
Once seated, William looked around for a moment. A middle-aged man with a square face and thick eyebrows, exuding an air of authority, sat in the main seat.
"Alright, let me introduce you. This is Ethan Powell, who is in charge of investment and business development." Dylan introduced with a smile.
Then he whispered to William, "Mr. Jones, the top officials from Lindwood City wanted me to arrange this meeting to discuss potential investments in their city. Ethan is their representative."
Ethan extended his hand to William, his face beaming."It's an honor to finally meet you. You're truly a distinguished member of a great family."
After the introductions, William and several senior city officials continued their meal, during which he learned a lot about Lindwood City's current economic development.
"Mr. Jones, to be honest, we're here to discuss the investment with you. Could you allocate some funds to help develop Lindwood City?" Ethan probed. He was a shrewd man.
"How much do you need?" William asked with a smile.
Ethan sensed an opportunity and eagerly said, "Ten billion, mainly to build in Lindwood City..."
"Alright, discuss the details with Dylan. Ten billion is just a small amount," William said nonchalantly.
Ethan's heart skipped a beat that ten billion had done so easily.
Mr.Jones was incredibly wealthy!
Ten billion is just a small amount?
Before coming, Ethan had done some research. William was Tyler's son-in-law.
Tyler and he were contemporaries, but Tyler's career had stalled, and he retired, while Ethan's career soared.
Unexpectedly, Tyler's son-in-law turned out to be the famous Mr. Jones in Imperial City.
Now, everyone in Lindwood City was eager to get to know William, but all were refused.
Even some wealthy individuals and top officials from other cities were flocking to Lindwood City to seek cooperation opportunities.
Before leaving, William said to Ethan, "You should be able to find out about me. I hope you can look after my wife's company and help out when needed."
Ethan quickly agreed, not daring to refuse.
After leaving the private room, William returned to the Smith Family's old house with Mary.
Mary was preparing to go back to the company, and William drove her. On the way, Mary mentioned having dinner with Terry in the evening.
"William, I'm having dinner with Terry tonight to meet Mr. Jones from Imperial City. Do you want to come with me?" Mary asked with excitement.
'Who exactly is the Mr. Jones?' as she thought about it, she glanced at William beside her, 'Could it be him?'
But she quickly dismissed the unrealistic thought.
It couldn't be William.
William quickly shook his head. "I won't go. You guys discuss your business."
Mary nodded and didn't say anything more as she got out of the car.
William was about to ask the driver to go to the hospital when he received a call from George.
"Mr. Jones, there's a dinner tonight. Several chairmen of the family's pharmaceutical companies have arranged a banquet for you. Many local pharmaceutical companies also want to meet you," George said respectfully.
William was taken aback. There really was a dinner.
He had thought Terry was setting a trap for him and was planning to find Alan to teach Terry a lesson tonight.
William didn't know whether he should go or not.
He had just told Mary he wouldn't go. If he went, it would reveal his identity.
"I will attend it, " William thought for a moment and replied.
'Alright, then. Hopefully, they won't be too surprised.' William thought.
