Chapter 89 Margaret Discovers William's Secret

Once the woman with the icy demeanor left the conference room, everyone remained unsettled for a long time.

Mary's cheeks stung and she didn't even know the woman.

But the woman seemed to know William.

Larry looked apologetic as he said, "Director Ward, I'm sorry for this sudden turn of events. What about our cooperation?"

Director Ward smiled slightly to ease the tension. "Our cooperation is still on track. We can go ahead right now ..."

Before he could finish, Director Ward's phone rang.

After answering, Director Ward's expression immediately darkened. "I see."

"What's wrong, Director Ward? Has something happened?" Larry saw through the change in Director Ward's expression.

Could this be another issue cropping up?

"I'm sorry, Mr. Hall, Ms. Smith. Our cooperation is temporarily suspended. I'm still determining the specifics. I need to go back and discuss this with the hospital director. I apologize."

After saying this, Director Ward hurriedly left with his team.

Larry and the others were left in the conference room, utterly confused.

Naturally, everyone's unfriendly gaze fell on Mary.

"Ms. Smith, what's going on? Do you know that woman?" Larry was also filled with anger. He was well aware that this matter was probably related to the woman who had just left.

Especially since the woman had mentioned William, that useless man!

Damn it!

Could William have caused trouble this time, leading to the failure of the collaboration between Bk and Loren?

Mary's expression turned cold as she grabbed her bag, holding back her emotions. She said to Larry, "Sorry, Mr. Hall, I have something to attend to."

After speaking, Mary left the conference room directly.

As soon as she left, the room buzzed with whispers.

"Mr. Hall, I think this has something to do with Ms. Smith."

"This was such a great opportunity for our company to go public. How come Ms. Smith just ruined it?"

"Who is that woman? She was so cold and fierce. I'm still scared. Her aura was too terrifying!"

The group continued to gossip. Their words filled with dissatisfaction towards Mary.

Larry slammed the table and said, "Alright, all of you, shut up!"

He was now very frustrated. Mary's actions had a significant impact. Now, he had more doubts and denials towards her.

At the same time, the focus shifted to William.

He didn't need to go to the company because he left everything to Melissa, believing in her abilities.

In an unprecedented move, Nancy, Mary's cousin, took the initiative to invite William out.

The two met at the game center and Nancy brought several friends with them.

"William, why do you come so late?"

Nancy asked sweetly as soon as she saw William Jones walking over. She immediately ran up to him and wrapped her arm around his, appearing very obedient and sweet.

This sudden change made William somewhat unaccustomed. He asked suspiciously, "What do you invite me for?"

Nancy pouted and smiled. "I invited you to play. Come, let me introduce you to my friends."

Was Nancy's purpose in inviting William really that simple?

Of course not.

The moment those friends saw William, they were full of disdain, their faces filled with sarcasm.

"Nancy, is this your useless cousin-in-law? Quite the character. Is the beggar style in fashion now?"

"Are you kidding us? He's obviously a poor loser. Can he afford to entertain us for a day?"

"Forget it. Let's go back. This is such a buzzkill. Hanging out with someone like him is just embarrassing."

They all took turns mocking William.

"Wow, this guy is seriously down and out."

He was wearing dirty sneakers from some unknown brand, and his blue t-shirt was so faded that it looked almost white. He just didn't fit in with them at all.

Nancy saw that everyone was looking down on William and immediately shot back, "You guys don't get it. William is awesome! Do you know Alan Jordan? He even treats William with respect."

She brought her friends out today to show off.

Hearing them mock William like that, Nancy was naturally upset.

Alan Jordan?

The group of friends looked at each other and then burst into laughter.

"Nancy, are you joking?"

"Do you even know who Alan Jordan is? And do you think this loser knows him?"

"If he knows Alan, I'll apologize to him."

Several fashionable and sarcastic young men sneered.

Alan, the Underground Emperor of Lindwood City!

These people who usually mix in society naturally know Mr. Jordan's reputation and his hundreds of businesses and friends!

Placing William on the same level as Alan?

That's impossible. It's simply a joke!

Nancy became anxious. She stomped her foot, grabbed William's arm, and said, "William, tell them if it's true. No, call Alan right now and ask him to come over!"

Nancy's temper flared.

She had never been questioned like this before and was naturally very upset.

However, William shook his head. "I'm sorry, I don't know Alan. Nancy, you must be mistaken."

Suddenly, everyone burst into laughter.

Nancy's face turned red with embarrassment as she felt the disdain from her friends.

She felt like a plucked chicken, standing bare and being ridiculed by everyone.

"Alright, stop it. William says so, so don't lie to us. We won't make fun of you either."

"William seems like an honest man, not too much of an idiot."

"Let's go play by ourselves."

Several friends departed amidst a chorus of derisive laughter.

Nancy was furious. She spun around, slapped William, and shouted, "William! Why won't you tell the truth? Do you enjoy seeing me being laughed at?"

However, William caught her hand in mid-air.

"Nancy, I advise you not to try and use me like that. If it weren't for the fact that you're Mary's cousin, you wouldn't even be standing here talking to me like this. Got it?"

William's attitude turned icy, his voice cold, and a faint anger flickered in his eyes.

Nancy was stunned. He let go of her hand, glaring at him with a mixture of fear and anger, then finally spitting it out, "William, you'll regret this!"
How dare he be so fierce to her!

Damn it!

Nancy was very upset. She had never been so embarrassed before.

However, William said indifferently, "It's up to you, but I warn you. If you dare to do anything out of line, you will bear the consequences!"

After saying that, William turned around and walked away with his hands in his pockets.

Watching William leave, Nancy was so furious that she stomped her foot in frustration and yelled, "William, how you dare mess with me? I'll make you regret it! This is infuriating!"

The easiest way for her to deal with William is to threaten him with that matter.

After that, William went to Golden Age Group to meet with George Clark.

"William, I have prepared the birthday gift you wanted. Do you want me to open it for you?"

George asked respectfully while his blonde, blue-eyed secretary held a small, exquisite box in her hands. The box looked valuable just from its appearance.

William took it directly and said, "No need, it's just a gift. This box is too conspicuous. Get a more ordinary one."

The secretary quickly replaced it with a plain box and William nodded in satisfaction. "Alright, then I'll go back first."

As he reached the door, he suddenly paused and slowly asked, "When is Susan arriving in Lindwood City?"

"I'm afraid she'll be here in a couple of days," George replied, a hint of worry on his face.

William's love life was complicated.

Susan, the third young lady of the White family, was not someone to be trifled with.

Especially considering what happened back then—it hurt her a lot.

In recent years, Susan has been looking for William, and it was during this time that she found out about William inheriting the family fortune.

William didn't say anything and left.

Today, Margaret left home early, wearing a plaid shirt and carrying a homemade black chicken soup. She took a taxi and arrived at Golden Age Group.

She was feeling great, practically walking on air.

Why did Margaret come here?

Naturally, it was to see George.

She had it all planned out—get close to George Clark and then ask him for money!

William saved his life, so asking for a million dollars wasn't too much.

William was embarrassed to ask for it, but Margaret was not. She had a thick skin.

She didn't want much, just ten million. If she couldn't get ten million, then five million would do. If they didn't give it to her, she'd make a scene.

With such a big company and the richest man in Lindwood City, they definitely had money. They wouldn't care about a few million.

When Margaret got out of the car in front of the company building, she saw a group of people coming out of the entrance.

It was George!

Margaret's eyes lit up and she excitedly started to rush over.

But suddenly!

Margaret stopped in her tracks.

Wasn't that William next to George?

What was that useless man doing here?

Margaret quickly hid to the side, peeking out while trying to stay unnoticed. To her surprise, she saw George inviting William into his Bentley!

That's right, he was invited!

She could see clearly that George treated William with great respect, bowing and even personally opening the car door for him.

How was that possible?

Did he her useless son-in-law, William Jones?
