He never thought William actually knew Emrys from the Ashford family.
Santino's heart dropped like a rock. If it weren't for his years of social experience keeping him steady, he might've bolted already.
Then, he heard hurried, chaotic footsteps.
The footsteps were quick and varied, like a bunch of people rushing over.
William heard them too and smiled, sending chills down Santino's spine.
Santino knew who was outside. With Thelonious there, it should be fine.
But it seemed Thelonious couldn't handle Yosef's pressure.
Time was almost up.
Santino figured he had asked everything he needed to.
The only problem now was William knowing Emrys from the Ashford family, which complicated things.
But in a moment, Santino made up his mind.
He stood up slowly, his face calm, the panic in his eyes replaced by seriousness.
He said, "William, get ready. We're taking you to the Gonzales family in Imperial City soon."
William sneered, "In such a rush? You just finished questioning me, and now you want to take me away? Worried about the people outside?"
Thelonious led the way, with Scarlett right behind him. The group's footsteps echoed in the night corridor.
Through the glass wall, Thelonious saw Santino standing and felt relieved. It seemed tonight's big event was settled.
Scarlett saw William and noticed his cold smile, knowing tonight wouldn't be peaceful.
Thelonious opened the door, dropping his smug look, and said flatly, "The person you're looking for is inside."
He glanced at Santino and winked.
Santino saw Alvin behind Thelonious, along with a beautiful woman and Yosef's group.
What made him curious was that Alvin and Yosef's group seemed to treat the woman as their leader.
Santino was puzzled. Who was this woman?
While he hesitated, Scarlett, Alvin, and the others walked in, clearly seeing the situation inside.
Scarlett saw William sitting there calmly and sighed in relief.
William was sitting there, smiling, as relaxed as could be, like he was on vacation instead of being questioned.
Scarlett observed for a moment, made eye contact with William, and instantly understood the hidden coldness in his eyes. William wasn't as calm as he seemed.
In the next second, Scarlett's relaxed expression turned serious.
It was like the spring breeze suddenly turned into a winter chill. Scarlett's face completely darkened.
In just a few seconds, her eyes were filled with shock, and within that shock was boundless anger.
Scarlett clearly saw the silver handcuffs on William's wrist, the silver light stinging her eyes.
Ronan and Jimmy instantly felt a chill from Scarlett, and then they all became extremely serious.
Scarlett suppressed her anger, her eyes flashing with coldness, and turned to Thelonious, asking, "Who put these on him?"
Thelonious trembled, and everyone, including Santino, looked at each other in confusion.
The Gonzales family could handcuff whoever they wanted.
Scarlett's eyes were filled with anger as she spoke to Thelonious and Santino, enunciating each word, "Who put these on him?"
Thelonious replied, "Ms. Ashford, this is the Gonzales family's private residence. We have the right to put them on him. Your aggressive attitude is uncalled for."
He had endured Scarlett's targeting all night and was naturally unhappy.
Scarlett raised an eyebrow, her eyes sharply fixed on Thelonious. "The Gonzales family is quite impressive! Even the Ashford family treats William as an honored guest!"
Thelonious took half a step back, intimidated by Scarlett's gaze.
Yosef and the others behind her also became serious, making Thelonious feel pressured.
Thelonious said, "Ms. Ashford, this is our family matter. We have evidence, and William should have confessed everything just now."
Thelonious realized Scarlett was here to rescue William.
But he wasn't about to back down easily. He gritted his teeth and said, "I think Santino's got all the answers he needs. The evidence of William's beating is solid. No need to drag this out. I'll send him back to the Gonzales family, and they'll handle it."
Ronan rushed forward, grabbed Thelonious by the collar, lifted him up, and pinned him against the wall. "Bullshit!"
Thelonious roared, "Bastard! What do you think you're doing? This is the Gonzales family's private residence, not the Ashford family's turf! I'm Thelonious!"
This was utterly humiliating for Thelonious.
They had been trading verbal jabs all evening, but now it had come to blows, and that was a whole different ball game!
When Ronan saw Thelonious talking back to Scarlett, he immediately pinned him against the wall, showing no respect. If this got out, the Gonzales family would be utterly humiliated.
Alvin, as the head of the Lindwood City Security Group, looked visibly distressed.
Things had completely spiraled out of control. Scarlett was from the Ashford family, someone he couldn't and wouldn't dare to offend.
Moreover, William was sitting right there.
He was the real big shot!
William, on the other hand, acted like he didn't see anything, sitting there calmly with his legs crossed and arms folded, looking like he was enjoying the show.
Alvin tried to ease the tension. "Ms. Ashford, please have your man let him go. Let's talk this out."
But Scarlett ignored him, her cold gaze fixed on Santino.
Ronan, still holding Thelonious by the collar, growled, "What's with your attitude when talking to Ms. Ashford? Apologize to her, or I'll kill you!"
This statement was extremely arrogant!
Seeing his subordinates standing by silently, Thelonious felt both uncomfortable and furious.
Were the Gonzales family members this cowardly?
Thelonious wanted to struggle. However, Ronan's strength was so great that he couldn't break free. Those hands gripped his collar like iron clamps, making it hard for him to breathe.
This was the Gonzales family's private residence, his turf, yet they dared to do this to him here!
This was simply disregarding the Gonzales family!
Thelonious's face was bright red, and his chest was filled with burning rage!
Ronan's eyes were filled with intense killing intent. "I'll say it again, apologize to Ms. Ashford! And unlock Mr. Jones's handcuffs yourself!"
Thelonious roared, "You are too arrogant! This is my turf, not the Ashford family's estate! Do you have any respect for the Gonzales family?"
Ronan sneered and said, "I've already told you, if you don't apologize, I'll kill you!"
With that, he pulled out a gun from his waistband and pressed it firmly against Thelonious's forehead.
Thelonious couldn't believe that he dared to pull a gun and point it at him in the Gonzales family's private residence.
Alvin, seeing this, also panicked. He said to Scarlett, "Ms. Ashford, aren't you going to do something? After all, this is the Gonzales family's territory, not the Ashford family's."
After all, they were all from prominent families, and having a conflict was hard to manage.
Scarlett glanced coldly at Alvin and said, "Do something? I wish he would just shoot him now! Even if Ronan didn't pull the gun, Thelonious's outcome wouldn't be much better!"

She didn't ask if William was okay but rather what William planned to do.
So, from the beginning, Scarlett wasn't worried about William being in trouble; she was only concerned about what kind of retaliation William would take.
This made Thelonious's face flush with shame.
Why was Scarlett so protective of William?
Thelonious shouted at William, "Who the hell are you?"
William chuckled, shrugged, and said, "Me? It's simple. I'm from the Jones family. How many members of the Jones family are there in the world?"
