Chapter 117 I'll Compensate
In an instant, the private room fell into an eerie silence!
‘This guy looks like William? It must be a joke!’ Everyone widened their eyes as they stared intently at the phone screen, not missing a single detail.
The more they looked, the more these old classmates were shocked.
He really did look like William!
And even the clothes were exactly the same as today!
The atmosphere was very quiet.
Everyone looked up, their eyes locked on William, but William was still calmly playing on his phone.
Yes, he was chatting with Melissa, arranging company matters.
At this moment, William noticed everyone staring at him like they had seen a ghost. He felt a chill run down his spine with confusion.
"Why are you all looking at me like that?" William put away his phone, somewhat puzzled.
Lori was the first to lose her composure and asked with difficulty, "William, did your company buy a hundred BMW motorcycles?"
William was stunned for a moment, then thought and said, "Are they expensive? I just wanted to get new transportation for the employees."
"New transportation?" At this moment, everyone gasped.
They were a hundred BMW motorcycles!
Stanley changed his face slightly, furrowing his brows. His mood instantly soured and he sneered. "William, don't brag. That's a hundred motorcycles. Did you really buy them?"
William glanced around. Everyone was staring at him, eager to hear what he had to say.
William pretended to ponder, touched his chin, and said, "Yes, I bought them. They're not expensive, only about a million dollars."
Stanley gasped, full of shock and disbelief. "A million isn't expensive?"
‘William is showing off too much!’ he thought.
"Expensive? It's just a hundred motorcycles. It's a small matter for me." William shrugged, looking indifferent.
"Damn! William, you..." For a moment, everyone was speechless, not knowing what to say.
‘William, are you showing off? This is too dramatic,’ they thought.
Just now, they were all mocking William. Now the tables turned. They couldn't accept it and didn't want to accept it.
Could William really turn things around?
The atmosphere was quite uncomfortable.
They had been flattering Stanley all day, constantly fawning over him. They hoped he would take care of them in the future.
But now, William they had all been disparaging suddenly claimed he spent a million dollars on a hundred BMW motorcycles!
Who would believe that?
Could William be that rich?
William touched his nose and smiled calmly. "Don't look at me like that. The company is just developing. I just invested another four million, and I bought that trending topic too."
Everyone was stunned again!
William was addicted to bragging!
Stanley twitched his eyes and sneered coldly. "William, you're too vain. Your bragging has no limits. You said you spent four million?"
‘William must be bragging! He must be upset about being ignored and said it on purpose,’ Stanley pondered.
Stanley was very unhappy. From the bar to here, he had been the center of attention. Now William was stealing the spotlight with a few words.
William pouted and said, "Is four million a lot? It's just my pocket money for a day."
Everyone was speechless.
Everyone understood that William was just bragging.
"Damn! William, you have no shame."
"When did you learn to brag? Four million as pocket money."
"Regret having dinner with him, so embarrassing."
Suddenly, all the old classmates exploded, complaining and cursing.
At this moment, William received a call. He looked at the number and saw it was from Bennett.
"Mr. Jones, I've arrived. Where are you? I'll come to you."
William was very surprised and said, "Bennett, why are you here? Didn't I tell you to come later?"
"I miss you too much, and I have many things to report to you. Let's meet." On the other end, Bennett was in Imperial City, speaking respectfully.
"Alright, when will you arrive in Lindwood City?" William got up and left the private room. Before leaving, his voice could still be faintly heard.
"I was very dissatisfied with the last billion-dollar investment."
The utensils dropped on the floor.
‘A billion-dollar investment? Bennett? Is it that stock god Bennett?’ Stanley and the others were completely dumbfounded!
They would rather believe that William was deliberately bragging than believe he was really that rich and knew Bennett.
Everyone exchanged glances.
Lori was the first to cross her arms and angrily curse, "If I had known, I wouldn't have brought him. I can't believe how shameless he is, bragging like that, even mentioning Bennett."
"Yeah, William is so fake, really a buzzkill." Several people started cursing, trying to ease their shock.
Stanley was grim, his expression stiff. He was forced to laugh.
The whole gathering was ruined by William!
No one felt like eating anymore. Lori sat for a while, her mind racing. She wanted to go out and see if William was really that rich.
So, Lori made an excuse to leave the room and wandered around the restaurant.
But she accidentally bumped into a waiter!
In an instant, six bottles of expensive red wine fell to the ground, shattering into pieces!
The waiter was also startled.
These were bottles of Lafite ordered by a guest. Six bottles cost six thousand dollars!
Now they were all broken, and she would be held responsible.
The waitress was furious, especially seeing Lori trying to walk away nonchalantly. She immediately grabbed her and shouted, "You think you can run? Lady, you broke our six bottles of Lafite! Please compensate immediately!"
"What? Don't talk nonsense. I didn't bump into you. You dropped them yourself. Don't falsely accuse me!" Lori shook her head desperately, her heart racing, wanting to escape immediately.
Lori knew that at this moment, she couldn't show any weakness. She had to act tough!
So, Lori pointed at the waiter's nose and started cursing.
The waitress was unwilling to show weakness and the two started arguing.
Soon, a crowd gathered around, pointing and whispering.
"Not your fault? Fine, let's check the surveillance!" the waitress shouted.
At this moment, Lori panicked and immediately apologized, "I didn't mean to. It was an accident."
Now, Lori looked pitiful and aggrieved.
"An accident? Why didn't you admit it earlier? You did it on purpose!" The waitress was almost furious, never having seen someone so shameless. She coldly said, "Stop talking and pay up!"
"Yeah, this woman is so cheap, not admitting it earlier."
"She looks pretty but lies."
"Such a woman is a disgrace to us."
The crowd pointed at Lori, their eyes full of disdain and contempt.
Lori started crying, especially after being criticized by so many people. She felt even more out of control and shouted, "I'll pay, okay? Just stop talking about me!"
Lori was scared and panicked.
But the criticism around her didn't stop.
Even if she was wrong, they didn't have to attack her like this.
‘Aren’t admitting my mistake and paying enough? Should I kneel and apologize?’ Lori pondered.
"Alright, please take a good look. These six bottles are Lafite, one thousand each, totaling six thousand dollars. Will you pay by card or cash?" the waitress asked.
"What? Six thousand dollars? Impossible! You're extorting me!" Lori was dumbfounded, tears streaming down her face.
Where would she get so much money?
"Look carefully, this is the Victory Grand Hotel. Do you think we would extort you? You may have no shame, but we do. We run a business here." The waitress said sharply, her attitude cold.
Lori's legs were trembling, her eyes fixed on the ground.
She had no money, not even a thousand, let alone six thousand dollars!
"I don't have that much money. Can you give me a few days?" Lori asked tearfully.
"No!" the waitress said coldly.
"I think we should call the police. Look at her, all her money is spent on her face."
"Yeah, call the police."
The onlookers said coldly, enjoying the spectacle, especially seeing a pretty woman in trouble.
Lori broke down, tears streaming down her face, crying, "No, don't call the police."
Lori's family was not well-off. Six thousand dollars was their annual income.
"Then pay up!" the waitress said coldly.
Lori felt utterly hopeless, especially with the crowd's various criticisms, making her completely break down. "I don't have money."
At this moment, William finished his call and passed by. After hesitating, he squeezed into the crowd and understood the situation.
He said to the waitress, "I'll pay for what she broke."
