Chapter 107: You Are the Protagonist!
Wade burst into laughter, his face full of disdain, pointing at William and saying, "William, what did you just say? You'll take Mary over there? What makes you believe you can take her? Just you? You idiot! Do you even know what Cloud Peak Manor is? It's the most mysterious estate in Lindwood City! It cost a billion dollars to build! You said you have the qualifications to be invited to the manor's party. Are you serious?" Wade couldn't hold back, spewing all sorts of mocking words, which were unbearable to hear.
His outburst attracted a lot of strange looks from people around, who pointed at William and laughed.
William was so disgraced.
Even at this point, William was still bragging.
Mary was burning with embarrassment. She kicked William hard under the table, signaling him to stop talking.
‘Today is already bad enough, why couldn't William just stop? Does he have to make things unpleasant with the Turner family?’ At the thought of this, Mary felt a surge of anger.
However, she was still somewhat tolerant of William and whispered, "Alright William, stop talking. Do you really want everyone to laugh at us?"
William was speechless and touched his nose, nodding. Then, he stopped talking.
He knew Mary was a bit upset.
Anyone would be unhappy if they were constantly targeted.
Moreover, those people were bringing up things three years ago, which made Mary feel very uncomfortable.
After sitting for a while, Mary got up to go to the restroom.
Wade coldly looked at William, put one foot on the table, and provocatively said, "William, you really surprised me. How does a loser like you have the courage to sit here and eat?"
With that, Wade picked up a glass of red wine from the table and poured it over William's head!
From head to toe, he didn't take William seriously at all!
Everyone was shocked!
Wade was too arrogant.
William sat there, drenched in wine. He clenched his fists tightly, suddenly erupting his anger!
William could no longer endure it. He stood up abruptly and kicked Wade in the chest!
Wade didn't expect William to lash out. Wade was kicked squarely, pushed back, and knocked over a table of food.
"William, you dare to kick me? Do you want to die? Do you know this is a birthday banquet at the Turner family?! Are you trying to get yourself killed!" Wade was furious, clutching his stomach and bending over. He pointed at William, shouting angrily.
This sudden scene caught the attention of Roy and the others.
"What happened?" Andy was the first to run over. Seeing Wade kicked and pale-faced, he angrily walked towards William and slapped him.
At the same time, Andy scolded coldly, "William, you're too arrogant! The Turner family isn't the place where you can act wild."
However, Andy's hand missed, caught by William in mid-air.
At this moment, William was full of anger, his eyes blazing. Staring at Andy, he shouted, "Try touching me! Do you believe the Turner family will disappear from Lindwood City immediately?"
Everyone was stunned.
‘Could a loser say something like that? Is William crazy, daring to talk to Andy like that? It screws.’ Margaret, standing behind Roy, looked panicked and terrified.
William was really going to drive her crazy.
‘Couldn't he just quietly eat and then leave? Does he have to cause trouble?’ Margaret thought.
She stepped forward, raised her hand, and slapped William.
"William, what are you doing? How dare you to be arrogant in the Turner family? Who gave you the guts? Get out!" Margaret scolded.
She was about to go mad!
If Roy got angry, not only William but even she wouldn't get any benefits!
Wade stood aside, pretending to be in pain. He pointed at William and complained to Roy, "Grandpa Roy, look at William. He doesn't take our Turner family seriously at all. He's here to ruin your birthday banquet."
Overwhelmed by irritation, Roy slammed his cane, walked up, and glared at William. "You, get out of the Turner family immediately!"
Roy was angry. Everyone looked at William with mocking smiles.
They were gloating, which was their favorite thing to do.
William let go of Andy's hand and glared at everyone.
‘How ridiculous the Turner family is!’ William thought.
"Roy, I hope you won't beg me to come back then!" William said coldly.
Roy sneered. "Beg you to come back? Do you think the Turner family needs a worthless bastard like you?"
Even so, when Roy met William's gaze, his heart trembled violently!
‘Why does William have that look filled with disdain and contempt? He actually looks down on the Turner family. How dare he to say that?’ Roy pondered.
Just as everyone was in an uproar, Mary returned. Seeing the scene, she kept apologizing to everyone.
"Grandpa Roy, I'm sorry. It's my fault. I didn't manage William well. Please don't be angry with him. We'll leave in a bit." Mary pulled William behind her and apologized sincerely.
Emily couldn't stand it anymore and spoke up to help, "Grandpa Roy, I think we should let it go. After all, we're family. Let Mary take William home in a bit."
Roy snorted coldly and said nothing. Then, he turned to leave.
Wade arrogantly glared at William, flipping him off with a middle finger, full of arrogance.
Mary didn't say anything, hurriedly pulling William to the bathroom. She wiped his face, then had him take off his clothes. She scrubbed them and dried them with a dryer.
"You're not mad at me, are you?" William stood shirtless, watching Mary dry his clothes.
She was so gentle and intellectual.
This was Mary, a woman who could have shone brightly.
Yet she married a man everyone saw as a loser.
"No," Mary said, but the tears rolling down her cheeks showed her feelings.
She knew it must have been Wade looking for trouble.
"Why are you crying?" William was flustered.
Mary wiped her tears, hugged William tightly, and sobbed. "William, let's go home and never come back. I don't want to see them humiliate you. You're my husband."
William was taken aback, feeling a warm flow in his heart. He hugged Mary tightly, patted her back, and said, "It's okay, Mary. It's just a small matter. Don't worry about me."
Sunlight streamed through the window, casting a golden glow on them.
An indescribable atmosphere quickly ignited between them.
Then, they kissed passionately and fervently.
The restroom door was suddenly pushed open. Emily barged in, looking at the two still in the throes of passion coldly. She tossed a white shirt at them and said, "Put this on."
Mary and William were both startled and quickly separated.
Mary turned flushed with embarrassment. She leaned against the sink, hands on the counter, and glared at William.
William nonchalantly took the shirt and quickly put it on.
After saying that, Emily turned to leave. Just as she was about to step out, she turned back and said, "If you want to kiss, find a better place."
After Emily left, William grumbled, "Emily must have a problem with her brain. She can't stand a loving couple."
Mary rolled her eyes at him, stepped forward, and buttoned his shirt.
William wanted more, but Mary slapped his hand away. "Don't push your luck. Let's go."
William shrugged helplessly, muttering, "We're married. What's there to be afraid of?"
Mary turned, with a smug smile on her face, looking very sexy in the sunlight.
When they returned to the banquet, it was already nearing the end.
William had just sat down for a minute when he received a text from George: [Mr. Jones, everything is ready. Get ready for a surprise.]
William quickly replied: [George, what do you mean?]
At that moment, George was sitting in his Bentley, driving towards Yangville.
He replied: [Mr. Jones, you are the protagonist of the Turner family birthday banquet. Just wait, they should be arriving soon.]
‘Damn! Did George do something behind his back?’ William pondered.
As William was scratching his head, a servant rushed in from the door, shouting, "Rex Ingram from the Eagle Trade Group has arrived! He presented a gift, an Andy Warhol painting!"
As the servant announced loudly, everyone was shocked. Why were there other distinguished guests arriving late at Roy Turner's birthday banquet?
Members of the Turner family looked at each other in disbelief. Everyone had heard of Eagle Trade Group, a company with assets over three billion, ranking in the top ten in Lindwood City.
And this Rex was a renowned collector in the country!
Moreover, an Andy Warhol painting was a famous piece of art!
What a grand gesture!
But the Turner family had no connections with Rex.
Why would such a distinguished person come to congratulate Roy?
Who had such great influence to bring him here?
Roy was also excited, quickly getting up and leading everyone to prepare to greet the guest. He asked, "Did Mr. Ingram say who he was here for?"
"Yes, he said he came for Mr. Jones," the servant replied.
‘Mr. Jones again! Who exactly is this Mr. Jones?’ Roy thought.
Among those present, the only one with the surname Jones was William. But aside from Mary and Emily giving him a strange look, no one connected William with this Mr. Jones.
Everyone filed out to greet the guest.
