Chapter 435 About Mother's Accident

Garth knelt, defeated, his heart a bitter cocktail of resentment and disbelief. How could this be? He looked at William, the reality of his defeat a bitter pill to swallow.

Otha kept giving Garth the side-eye and whispered, "Mr. Tovar, if you got any tricks up your sleeve, now's the time. Otherwise, we're toast!"

Garth's eyes locked onto Otha.

His face turned beet red, veins popping out on his arms.

He shot up, snatched the phone from William, and yelled, "Alright! You asked for it!"

William just stood there, cool as a cucumber, like he had it all figured out.

Garth felt a knot in his stomach seeing William so chill.

But what choice did he have?

He quickly dialed a number.

After a few rings, someone picked up.

Trying to sound as humble as possible, Garth said, "Madam, we've got a situation, I..."

A cold, emotionless voice cut him off, "Garth, you act impulsively, and now look at this mess. You've got some nerve calling me."

Garth started shaking, sweat dripping down his face.

"Madam, I'm sorry, I messed up. Please, save the Tovar family, for old times' sake," he begged, almost on his knees.

"Give the phone to him," the icy voice commanded.

Garth handed the phone to William, eyes burning with hatred, "Do you know who's on the other end? You'll be begging me soon enough!"

Garth was done waiting.

He was just counting down the seconds until William would be on his knees.

With Jessica stepping in, there was nothing that couldn't be fixed!

Even if William had some clout, so what?

Next to Jessica, he was a nobody.

William shot Garth a mocking look, took the phone, and put it on speaker, "You really think I'm gonna lose?"

Garth didn't say a word, but his eyes said it all.

William smirked, "Jessica, I know Garth works for you."

There was a pause, then Jessica's voice came through, "William, let him go. You can't kill him. I'll make up for everything he's done."

Garth and Otha were floored.

Jessica was negotiating with William and even offering to make amends?

What the heck was going on?

William's voice turned icy, "What if I say no?"

Garth's face went ghostly white.

This was the first time he'd heard anyone say no to Jessica.

Where did William get the guts to say that?

It was terrifying!

But what came next was even crazier. Jessica said, "William, how about we make a deal?"

William frowned, "What kind of deal?"

"Let Garth go, and I'll tell you a secret about your mom's accident," Jessica said.

She was standing in the hall of Cloud Peak Manor, arms crossed, staring out the window, her brows knitted together.

William thought it over.

Was there more to Aurora's accident?

After giving Garth and Otha a long look, William made up his mind, "Alright."

As soon as he said it, the armed guards let Garth and Otha go.

William walked off to the side, his face like stone, "If you're lying, I won't hesitate to wipe the Miller family off the map!"

Jessica let out a chuckle, "I know all about your mom's accident. You've been digging for years, and I admit, the suspicion on me is substantial. But think about it—if I really did it, do you think I'd still be here, unscathed?"

William was floored.

Could he have been wrong all these years?

No way.

"You're full of it! I've spent years on this, and everything points to you!" William snapped.

Jessica kept her cool, "You've been played. The folks behind this are way more powerful than you think. If you wanna take them on, do it after you inherit the Jones family and unite the main and branch families. Only then will you have a shot. Otherwise, they'll squash you like a bug. Do you think the Jones family became number one by luck? Ever consider they might have some serious backers? You really think your dad didn't want to get to the bottom of your mom's death?"

William was left speechless.

If Jessica was telling the truth, then who the hell was pulling the strings?

Even his dad, Mario, had to tread carefully.

After a long pause, William asked, "Are you for real?"

Jessica chuckled again, "Check it out yourself. Start with the Price family."

William's brow furrowed. No wonder he kept hitting walls with the Price family in his investigations.

Could they be the key?

What part did they play in Aurora's accident? He had no clue.

"Why are you spilling this now? You want me to take over the Jones family?" William asked, a spark of vigilance in his eyes.

Jessica didn't spell it out but said, "I need you to distract them."

"So, you're using me as a pawn?" William's tone turned icy.

So that was her true intention.

"Think of it that way," Jessica admitted.

William glanced at Garth and Otha, then smirked, "What's your deal with Garth that you're so desperate to save him?"

Was it just business?

"Mind your own business. I heard Mary's about to have a miscarriage," Jessica's tone turned cold.

William snorted, "Letting Garth off this time doesn't mean he's off the hook forever! Keep your people in check. If they mess with me again, I won't hold back!"

Hanging up, William walked up to Garth, giving him a hard look, "I want the Tovar family to be done in Lindwood City. Got it?"

Garth, drenched in sweat, gritted his teeth, "Got it."

Only then did William turn and leave.

The bodyguards wrapped things up.

Atticus was handed over to the authorities.

William headed back to the hospital.

Mary was lying in bed, still looking rough.

William held her hand, feeling a stab of pain in his heart.

Just then, Patricia walked in, holding a phone, and said softly, "Mr. Jones, a call from Leander of the Medical Association."

William frowned, got up, took the phone, and walked out of the room.

What was meant to come had finally come.
