Chapter 131 The Taste of a Broken Family

The entire house was enveloped in a tense and oppressive atmosphere. No one dared to speak. Even the usually troublesome Margaret became a well-behaved child at this moment, standing quietly on the side, looking down at the kneeling Mary, not daring to make a sound.

Mary knelt there stubbornly, her face full of defiance, and said, "Grandpa, you have to tell me why you called me here. Did William insult you?"

"Get William back here!" Roy shouted angrily, his face cold and his eyes reflecting a hidden chill.

Margaret didn't dare to say anything. She just stood there, looking at Mary and signaling her to call William quickly.

William must have caused some trouble, otherwise, Roy wouldn't have come over from the Turner’s estate in the middle of the night with so many people standing at the door, and four more inside the house.

Thus, Margaret's hatred for William grew even deeper.

Mary had just arrived home and didn't understand what had happened, but she vaguely conceived that it had something to do with Wade.

Although Mary appeared stubborn, she was extremely nervous inside. After all, she was facing her grandfather, Roy, who she had always thought of as a tough and intimidating person. His presence was overwhelming, putting a lot of pressure on Mary.

"Grandpa, you have to tell me what William did wrong, or I can't call him," Mary said weakly, still kneeling straight.

Roy glared at Mary, feeling deeply regretful for her. What a good girl! But she married William and became a joke.

Back then, Roy didn't even attend Mary's wedding, directly declaring that the Turner family had no granddaughter named Mary. This led to Mary losing her job and eventually going to BK Pharmaceuticals.

"Mary, you can't handle this. Just get William back here, the rest is none of your business." Roy said coldly, his tone indifferent and full of authority.

Mary was naturally unhappy to hear this. As William's wife, what couldn't she handle for him?

"William won't be coming back today. He's at the hospital with Sarah. If he did something wrong, I'll kneel and apologize to you," Mary said stubbornly.

However, Roy stood up, a cold smile on his face, and walked over to Mary with his cane.

What happened next shocked everyone. Without a word, Roy raised his hand and slapped Mary hard across the face. The entire living room echoed with the loud sound.

"What right do you have to talk to me like that? Can you represent William? Do you even know what he did?"

Roy was so angry that his face turned red, and he shouted, "If William doesn't come back today, you will keep kneeling. You can get up only when he returns."

How could Mary be so foolish? Although Roy was very angry, he still had a bit of affection for Mary in his heart.

Watching Mary get slapped, Margaret didn't dare to say anything. She was the type to bully the weak and fear the strong, only daring to act tough with William. Faced with someone like Roy, Margaret couldn't stir up any trouble.

But seeing Mary get slapped, she felt uneasy too. She said angrily, "Mary, get that useless man back here. At this point, you're still standing up for him? As he is the wrongdoer, he should bear the consequences. He's not the son-in-law of our Smith Family, nor is he part of the Turner family."

Cursing viciously, Margaret glanced at Roy's expression.

However, the stubborn Mary just knelt there, not saying a word or taking out her phone. This made Roy explode with anger. Roy, feeling both angry and disappointed, pointed at Mary and scolded, "Fine. From now on, you are no longer my granddaughter, and the Turner family has no relative like you."

These words were heavy. Margaret was so scared that she shivered and quickly shouted to Roy, "Dad, you can't do this. Mary is your granddaughter. This is all William's fault."

Saying this, Margaret angrily rushed to Mary, grabbed her shoulders, and shook her violently, saying, "Mary, don't be foolish. Get William back here. We won't interfere in this matter. He did wrong, let him solve it himself."

How could Mary be so foolish? Is she really going to be so stubborn with Roy for William's sake?

But, Mary sneered, her eyes filled with tears. She glanced at Margaret, then fixed her gaze on Roy. With a reddened nose, she asked, "Grandpa, I know you're here because of Wade. Although I don't know what happened to Wade, you slapped me as soon as you walked in. Did you even ask Wade what he did wrong? Do you know what Wade did to me today?"

Mary was furious. This was her grandfather, a man who didn't care about right or wrong, only about gender. To him, Wade meant the heir of the Turner family, his beloved youngest grandson. But was Mary not his granddaughter?

Roy's lips trembled, but his long-standing affection for Wade made him disregard everything else. He angrily said, "Wade is the grandson of the Turner family. Even if he was wrong, it should be the Turner family that punishes him, not an outsider who cripples his limbs."

As he spoke, Roy's cane struck the floor tiles heavily.

In an instant, the room fell silent. What? William crippled Wade's limbs?

Margaret was the first to feel disbelief, her breathing becoming rapid, her eyes rolling back as she nearly fainted. Oh, hell! William had caused a huge trouble this time.

Mary was also visibly stunned by these words, she hadn't expected this outcome. But she had no regrets. William was her husband, so she was willing to stand by his side.

To everyone's surprise, Mary bit her lip in anger and said, "He deserved it."

"Good, good, good!" Roy grinned and signaled to the bodyguards he had brought, saying, "Beat her! I want to see how tough you are. Let's see if William can get here before you are beaten to death."

With that, two bodyguards stepped forward and slapped Mary’s face repeatedly. Mary was truly resilient. Even as she was beaten to the point of spitting blood, she stubbornly knelt there without uttering a single cry.

Roy watched Mary with a cold expression, not believing that William wouldn't come.

"Beat her! Call William and tell him that Mary is here. If he doesn't come, I'll beat her to death," shouted Roy as he turned and glared coldly at Margaret.

Margaret was startled and quickly picked up the phone with trembling hands, dialing William's number, "William, get back here immediately. Mary, Mary is going to be beaten to death."

The cries echoed throughout the house. It was Margaret's cries. Seeing Mary being beaten so brutally, Margaret felt a deep pain in her heart.

At that moment, William was just outside the old house of the Smith Family. When he received Margaret's call and heard the slaps through the phone, he was utterly enraged.

Damn Roy! He were asking for it. The entire Turner family was asking for it.

Fine. He had spared them, and now they were going further. The Turner family would be completely destroyed.

William rushed towards the old house. As soon as he entered, he saw Mary kneeling in front of Roy, her face swollen and bleeding, while the two bodyguards continued to slap her.

"You're asking for it." With a roar of anger, William leaped forward, throwing punches.

The two bodyguards didn't even see what happened before they were hit with heavy punches, stumbling backward in a daze. But they were physically strong and could withstand it.

William's face was grim as he knelt down, taking a deep breath of cold air. Especially when he saw the injuries on Mary's face, William's anger was uncontrollable.

Daring to hit Mary?! It's a death wish.

"William, you're finally back. Are you coming with me willingly, or do I have to tie you up and take you back?" Roy struck the floor tiles heavily with his cane, making a frightening sound.

William turned his face, his eyes reflecting a bone-chilling coldness, his mouth curling into an extremely grim smile that looked very dangerous.

If Susan were here, she would understand the meaning behind this smile. William was furious. In the past, it was this very smile that allowed William to eliminate formidable enemies for Susan and the White family.

"Roy, do you know what it feels like to have your family destroyed?" William said coldly.
