Chapter 188 So What If I Kick You?

They all stared at William in suspicion.

How could he know Mr. Jones?

Mary's eyes flickered as she looked at William, who said, "Actually, Mr. Jones is..."

Before he could finish, Margaret cut him off with a sharp tone, "Is it you?"

She snorted twice, her face full of mocking laughter. "Are you trying to say it's you? William, I never realized how much you like to brag. Now I get it. Mary marrying you is such a mistake."

"Mom, can you stop it? He's been working hard and without complaint all these years. Why are you always against him?" Mary sighed and shook her head helplessly.

It seemed  Margaret was born to clash with William.

She couldn’t help but scold him every chance she got.

"Mary, are you really that blind? Why do you always defend him?"

Margaret glared at Mary angrily, then pointed at William and said, "Ask him if he was just about to say that he is Mr. Jones."

Mary turned her face to look at William and asked, "Is she right?"

William was initially ready to tell the truth, but in such a situation, no matter what he said, they wouldn't believe him. Feeling helplessness, he just smiled slightly and shook his head.

Margaret hugged a throw pillow and deliberately sighed loudly. "Someone sure loves to brag. I don't know how they have the nerve to stand here. That Mr. Jones from Imperial City, can a useless person compare to him? Sure, they both have the last name Jones, but Mr. Jones invests a billion dollars. What a grand gesture and courage! Someone, on the other hand, can only deliver food, so unambitious!"

The more Margaret said, the angrier she got. In the end, she glared fiercely at William.

"Mom, enough, stop making trouble," Mary said and she was getting ready to leave.

"Mary, why are you in such a hurry? I’m not done yet."

Margaret got anxious. She pulled Mary back and said, "Since Mr. Jones invests in your company, you should find an opportunity to thank him in person. It's just good manners."

"Mom, don't worry about it. I know what I'm doing," Mary replied.

Margaret chuckled. She glanced at William before dragging Mary into the bedroom.

Upon seeing Margaret's sneaky behavior, Mary knew she was up to  something bad.

"Mom, what can't you say it  outside?" Mary said irritably.

"Mary, tell me the truth. Are you and William really not planning to divorce?"

Margaret sat next to Mary, holding her hand, and asked anxiously.

If they really weren't planning to divorce, she would have to put in some effort to break them up.

She couldn't let Mary suffer with William forever.

Mary didn't understand now, but she would when she got older.

It was better to marry into a wealthy family, living in luxury without worrying about survival.

Mary stood up and frowned. "Mom, don't bring it up again. We are not getting a divorce. We already have a baby. Can you stop it? You're my mom. Why can't you consider my feelings?"

"Your feelings? "

Margaret got angry at Mary's words. She poked her forehead and scolded. "You're so stubborn. What's so good about William? What can he give you? Forget Mr. Jones, just look at Isaac. He has a villa,  luxury cars, and such good connections and family background. If you don't marry him, who will you marry? I'm doing this for your own good, not for myself."

"Mom,  I have nothing to do with Isaac anymore. Stop matching us up. I know your intentions. You're just doing this for your own image, treating me like an object to trade."

Mary got angry and stood up abruptly.

"Even if I'm doing it for myself, isn't it also for your good? For Sarah's good? Tell me, can you afford formula and schooling for Sarah and the baby in your belly? Being the chairman won't make you wealthy forever. What if they withdraw their investment? I've heard that if they do, BK Pharmaceuticals will be finished. You'll be entangled in lawsuits, and you'll end up owing tens of millions or even billions."

Margaret coldly said, "If you don't find a good match now, what will you do in the future?"

The bedroom door was kicked open suddenly. William stood at the entrance with a cold expression, then sneered. "Margaret, you are really something."

He had heard everything Margaret said just now.

Even if William was usually patient and good-tempered, he couldn't stand a mother-in-law who only cared about money and treated her daughter like a commodity.

Margaret panicked. She scolded with a bit of guilty. "William, you're getting more and more out of line. You kick the front door and my bedroom door. Are you going to kick me next?"

"And what if I do?" William said coldly as he stepped towards Margaret.

"Don't come any closer."Margaret was terrified.

She was still haunted by the memory of being grabbed neck by William. She quickly hid behind Mary and scolded. "Mary, look at William, he even wants to hit me. Tell me, am I your mother or not? Is he rebelling?"

William just gave a cold smile, too tired to argue with Margaret.

Margaret found William more and more outrageous, especially with his recent attitude towards her, which made her even angrier.

She was determined to drive William out of the Smith Family and made Mary divorce him.

Otherwise, she would live under his evil grasp forever.

"Mary, listen to me. I've arranged a schedule with Isaac. He's coming to pick you up tomorrow for trip. You must seize this opportunity. He is very wealthy as he's the CEO of Orion Pharmaceuticals. You can't miss such a good chance. It will be good for you and your company."

Margaret took the opportunity to talk to Mary while William was outside smoking .

Today, they were having dinner at home.

There was no choice; it was Margaret's request. She wanted to persuade Mary to go on a date with Isaac.

Mary felt a headache as she busied herself in the kitchen, then said, "Mom, I want nothing to do with Isaac. Stop persuading me. If you keep saying, I'll leave right now."

"Okay, take your time."

Margaret knew she couldn't push too hard, but she schemed in her mind how to get Mary and Isaac alone together.

If she succeeded, and if William happened to see, it would be a happy ending.

Divorce would be inevitable.

Just then, a few people walked in.

It was Dorothy and her family.

"Aunt Dorothy, please come in."

Mary invited Dorothy's family inside; after all, they were relatives.

"Mary is here. Where's your mom?" Dorothy said arrogantly her eyes rolling as she directly settled onto the living room sofa.

Following her were Anna and her husband.

Margaret heard the commotion and came out of the bedroom. Upon seeing Dorothy, she looked very displeased.

After a brief exchange of pleasantries, Anna, casting a disdainful glance at the old house, introduced, "Aunt Margaret, this is my husband, Terry. He's the General Manager of the Project Department at RK Pharmaceuticals."

Anna's face was full of pride as she spoke.

Terry looked very wealthy, dressed very elegantly in a well-tailored suit, with slicked-back hair, looking very handsome.

It was no surprise Anna had married him.

As Anna introduced Terry, he greeted Mary politely.

Margaret was particularly angry now, especially seeing how impressive Terry looked, which only compounded her frustration.

Everyone said Dorothy had a good son-in-law who bought her gold and diamonds, and now it seemed true.

Just then, William walked in, and Margaret glared at him angrily, feeling the comparison unbearable.

"William, you're back."

Dorothy deliberately called out loudly as she saw William. Then she introduced to Terry, "Terry, you haven't met William yet, have you? He is Mary's husband, a delivery guy. If you have the chance, lend him a hand. After all, we're all family."
