Chapter 150 Caught
Damn it!
When did Mary get here?
William was nervous. He quickly hung up the phone. Despite having broken out in a cold sweat, he smiled and said, "Mary, what brings you here?"
Mary handed the breakfast she had brought to William. She looked at his sweaty face and found it amusing. Crossing her arms as she stood in front of him, she looked down at him with a proud expression and asked, "So, what's this about a hundred billion and seventy percent of the world's wealth?"
William had nowhere to go.
Had Mary figured it out already?
In his excitement, William suddenly stood up and said, "Alright, I'll come clean!"
Then, William grabbed Mary's shoulders forcefully. He said, "Mary, I have to tell you, I'm actually a top-tier heir to my family's fortune. My family is very wealthy and powerful. My spending money alone is a hundred billion."
Mary was completely bewildered, staring at William in shock. Then she glared at him angrily and said, "Are you crazy? What nonsense are you spouting? Stop fooling around."
Of course, Mary didn't believe him. She even touched William's forehead and then her own, muttering, "No fever, so why are you talking nonsense so early in the morning?
"Anyway, you stay with Sarah today. I have some business at the company and need to go to the pharmaceutical factory to discuss a collaboration."
With that, Mary turned to leave. After a few steps, she pouted and glared at William again, concerned. "Make sure to eat your breakfast."
William grinned like a fool. He scratched his head and said, "Got it, drive safe."
Watching Mary leave, William finally breathed a sigh of relief.
He had almost been exposed. Luckily, no one ever believed the truth.
After eating the breakfast that Mary had lovingly prepared, William played with Sarah in her ward for a while before getting a call from Margaret to come back.
He had no idea what Margaret wanted, as she didn't say over the phone.
William first went to Polaris Sky Restaurant to retrieve his Ferrari, then drove back to the Smith family's old house.
Of course, he didn't park the car at the entrance but in the nearby parking lot.
After parking his car, William walked towards the Smith family's old house.
Meanwhile, Nancy and a few of her classmates were walking out of a nearby mall.
From a distance, Nancy saw William getting out of the Ferrari. She was stunned.
"Damn it! William is driving a Ferrari now? Am I seeing things?"
"Nancy, what's up? What are you looking at?" asked a female classmate with two long braids and a buck-toothed grin. She was carrying a cute pink backpack and wearing white lace stockings.
Nancy crossed her arms, frowned slightly, and replied, "You guys go ahead, I have something to do. I'll catch up with you tomorrow."
Her classmates didn't mind and went their separate ways.
Nancy then walked over to the Ferrari, looked at it for a few moments, then turned her back to it, pouting and taking selfies to show off on Facebook.
"My boyfriend just bought a Ferrari, cool right!"
After posting, Nancy happily sat on the hood and started playing with her phone.
Meanwhile, William returned to the Smith family's old house. As soon as he entered, he saw Margaret and Dorothy chatting inside.
"Margaret, I'm telling you, there's no way you can buy a Hillside Villa with the little money you have. The price has gone up. It’s at least fifteen million now."
Dorothy sat on the couch, her eyebrows raised, exuding an air of wealth. Beside her was an LV bag, and her wrist was adorned with gold and silver jewelry.
Margaret just laughed dryly and said, "Dorothy, who told you I wanted to buy a villa? I don't have that kind of money."
Margaret was unhappy when she heard the price had gone up to fifteen million, especially since Dorothy came over to mock her and brag about her son-in-law.
"Margaret, don't hide things from me. That Hillside Villa development belongs to my son-in-law's company. I know you went to inquire about the villa."
Dorothy was full of pride. She had come over to show off her newly done hairstyle. She had long known about Margaret's visit to the Hillside Villa sales office and about the altercation that happened there.
She rushed over to see Margaret and humiliate her, but she only knew half the story and was unaware of the rest.
Hearing that Dorothy knew, Margaret felt embarrassed. Seeing William come in, she immediately vented her anger on him. "Don't just stand there. Go and bring us some coffee."
William had no choice but to comply. He ran to the kitchen to prepare it.
Dorothy glanced at William. She found his submissive demeanor amusing. She said mockingly, "Your son-in-law is still better. Although he's not very capable, at least he does housework, making your life easier."
Hearing this, Margaret became even more furious and said, "He's just a useless bum. What's the point of him doing housework? If he had half the ability of your son-in-law Terry, I wouldn't be suffering like this, living in this old house with Tyler."
Dorothy squinted and smiled, watching William bring over the coffee. She deliberately didn't hold the cup properly, causing the hot coffee to spill all over William's hand.
It turned William's hand red instantly.
The cup also shattered.
"Sorry, it was too hot, and I couldn't hold it properly. William, are you okay?" Dorothy pretended to be remorseful and concerned.
William gritted his teeth, enduring the pain, and forced a smile, saying, "I'm fine."
He then ran to the kitchen, turned on the cold water, and rinsed his hand. Even so, it still blistered badly. The pain was excruciating.
Standing in the kitchen, William frowned. He could clearly see that Dorothy had done it on purpose.
Meanwhile, in the living room, Dorothy ignored William and said to Margaret, "Alright, if you beg me, I'll ask Terry to help and see if we can get you a staff discount."
After saying that, Dorothy leaned back on the couch. She fiddled with her jewelry, waiting for Margaret to start begging.
She added, "Margaret, I've told you, you shouldn't have let Mary marry William in the first place. Regretting it now, aren't you?"
Dorothy said this without caring if William could hear it from the kitchen. So what if he heard? He was just a useless bum anyway.
If he felt wronged, he would just have to endure it.
Meanwhile, William walked out of the kitchen and applied some burn ointment to his hand. He then walked to the living room with a smile, "No need to worry about the villa. I've already bought a house. If you're interested, you're welcome to visit our new home."
Dorothy and Margaret were both stunned by his words.
Margaret didn't expect that at this moment, William would still shamelessly joke around.
Margaret glared at William angrily, grabbed a book from the table, and threw it at him. She scolded, "William, you shouldn't speak if you have nothing of value to say. Get out now!"
"Mom, I really did buy a house. I told you before. In a few days, we can all move in together," William said, bending down to pick the book up off the floor.
Dorothy looked at William with a cold, skeptical expression, then sneered. "Margaret, your son-in-law has learned to brag now? That's not good, he might get in trouble for it."
"Yes, Dorothy, you're right," Margaret said, glaring at William.
But the next second, Dorothy stood up, grabbed her bag and said, "Alright, since William said so, why don't we set a date, and I'll come to see your new home."
Margaret felt utterly defeated and angry. With no other outlet to vent her rage, she slapped William hard and said, "Get out! You shouldn't have opened your big mouth!"
William smiled and said they would move into the new house once Sarah was discharged, which infuriated Margaret even more. She cursed at William as he walked away.
After William left, Dorothy said to Margaret, "Your son-in-law is hopeless. You need to teach him manners. But since he said he bought a house, I'm really curious to see what it looks like."
Dorothy left and told her family about it.
She also informed many relatives, saying they should visit Margaret's new home once Sarah was discharged.
She knew they weren't going to see a new house. She just wanted to humiliate Margaret.
This made Margaret very angry. She fell ill for several days, feeling trapped.
Meanwhile, William left the Smith family's old house and walked back to the parking lot. Just as he was about to take out his keys, a graceful girl rushed up from behind and hugged him, laughing, "William, I can't believe you're driving a Ferrari now."
William turned around and saw Nancy with her arms crossed, looking at him with a mischievous smile.
Nancy was dressed quite in revealing clothing today, with a low-cut top and ultra-short shorts. She was also wearing delicate makeup.
Nancy had developed quite well.
"What are you doing here?" William asked suspiciously.
Nancy held her phone, playing a short video of William getting out of the car earlier.
Then she smiled as she said, threateningly, "William, what do you think Mary would say if she saw this?"
