Chapter 177 Lucy Apologizes

Margaret's face immediately fell, and she pointed at William angrily, "Look at this, this is his attitude! If he doesn't kneel down today, I won't accept his apology."

Margaret sat coldly on the sofa with a nasty attitude, completely unwilling to listen.

Anyway, she had made up her mind to vent all her anger on William today.

How dare he hit her in the hospital?

Tyler was also furious. He pointed at William and shouted, "Listen to your mother today, kneel down and apologize."

Mary was very frustrated. She  didn't expect Margaret to be so unreasonable, "Mom, can you stop being so irrational? You know exactly what happened, do I have to spell it out?"

Margaret immediately backed down, did William tell Mary about it?

"Mary, are you starting to side with outsiders now? I'm your mother, and you're talking to me like this?"

Margaret didn't care anymore and started to throw a tantrum. She slapped her thighs on the floor and cried, "I can't live like this anymore! My own daughter is siding with outsiders, and my mother-in-law beats me. I might as well be dead. Tyler, if you're a man, kick this useless person out today."

Tyler was helpless about Margaret's tantrum. His face became dark then he pointed to the door. "William, get out. From today on, you're not welcome in our house."

William's face changed several times. He knew that if he didn't bow his head today, this matter wouldn't be resolved.

He felt terrible making Mary uncomfortable.

After a moment of hesitation,William reluctantly lowered his head and said, "I'm sorry, Mom, I shouldn't have..."

But just as William was about to apologize, someone who panted heavily burst in .

It was Lucy.

She gasped for breath then ran in. Her hair was disheveled, and her chest was heaving heavily.

"Lucy, why are you here?" Mary asked in confusion, , turning to look at her.

Lucy caught her breath and stepped forward. She bowed to Margaret and apologized, "Auntie, I'm sorry. It was my fault during the day. I apologize to you. This has nothing to do with William. Please forgive him."

Lucy had thought about it for a long time, especially after seeing William being called back by a phone call at the hospital, she was very worried.

So, she rode her bike all the way here.

Fortunately, she made it in time.

"You little tramp, get out! This is my house, you have no right to speak here."

Margaret was furious when she saw Lucy, and she went up to slap her angrily.

But the slap missed.

William stood in front of Lucy, gripping Margaret's hand tightly, and said coldly, "Margaret, don't push it!"

Mary was also scared. She didn't expect Margaret to be so overbearing.

But she had no choice, after all, it was her own mother.

"Mom, what are you doing? Lucy is the nurse William and I hired. William told me what happened at the hospital. It was your fault. Why are you hitting Lucy?"

Mary stood up at this moment, pulling Lucy behind her, and said, "Mom, if you apologize to Lucy today, I'll have William apologize to you. Otherwise, let's just drop this matter."

Tyler, who had been controlled by his anger earlier, now realized that this matter wasn't that simple.

Even if William was bold, he wouldn't dare to hit Margaret unless Margaret did something that made William very angry.

"Margaret, tell the truth, what really happened? Why would William hit you for no reason?" Tyler asked.

He glanced at Lucy, who didn't seem like someone who would cause trouble for no reason.

"I can't live like this. You all would rather believe an outsider than me?"

Margaret looked righteous and she started to throw a tantrum again.

Mary couldn't stand it anymore. She pulled Lucy aside and asked, "Lucy, tell me the truth, what happened at the hospital? Why did my mom hit you, and why did William hit my mom?"

Lucy kept her head down but Margaret was still glaring at her.

Lucy had noticed that William constantly winked at her, but she couldn't hold it in anymore. Clenching her fists, she pointed at Margaret and said, "It was her. She hit Sarah. I couldn't stand it and argued with her, then she started hitting me. William hit her a couple of times to stand up for me."

A couple of times?

Mary looked suspiciously at the injuries on Margaret's face. Did those come from just two hits?

There must be more to the story.

But Mary didn't care anymore because Lucy had said that Margaret hit Sarah.

This made her very angry, "Mom, why did you hit Sarah? Isn't she your granddaughter?"

Mary was really upset and started crying. Margaret had never liked Sarah, and now she had gone so far as to hit her.

Tyler, upon hearing this, was also helpless.

The truth was out, but Margaret had caused trouble again.

Margaret, upon hearing this, couldn't take it and immediately started yelling, "What do you know? This little tramp is William's mistress, and I caught them in the act. She's lying. You two are in cahoots, aren't you?"

Margaret refused to admit anything and started to slander, spewing all kinds of vicious words.

Lucy broke down in tears on the spot. She couldn't stand being called a tramp by Margaret.

Then, with red eyes and feeling very wronged, she took out a thousand dollars from her pocket and handed it to William, saying, "William, Mary, I'm leaving. I'm here to resign. Here's a thousand dollars. Thank you, William and Mary, for taking care of me."

After saying that, she covered her face and ran out.

"Lucy?" Mary called out anxiously, glaring angrily at Margaret.

Margaret was still shouting and cursing, "Look at this, you two! William, how dare you give her money? Tell me, how much have you given her behind our backs?"

William was completely exasperated by Margaret's shamelessness and unreasonable behavior.

"Shut up! Do you want me to get the hospital's surveillance footage to see what you did there? How old are you, acting so irrationally? If it weren't for the fact that you're my mother-in-law, I would have hit you already," William said coldly, then turned and left the house.

Mary stood there with a cold expression, unmoved.

"Mom, I really regret that you're my mother."

Mary stomped her foot in anger and also left the Smith Family's old house.

Margaret was completely enraged. She cried on the floor and began to kick Tyler. She shouted, "Tyler, these are your son-in-law and daughter. You didn't even stand up for me? Look at William's attitude just now. He even wanted to hit me. Look at these injuries on my face. He did this! He did!"

"You're so unreasonable."

Tyler was so angry that his scalp tingled. He couldn't believe how unreasonable Margaret had become.

Meanwhile, William went out to chase Lucy. He grabbed her and kept apologizing, "Lucy, I'm sorry. Margaret is just like that. Don't take it to heart. And take this money back. I don't accept your resignation. Sarah likes you. I promise you. Margaret won't dare to bully you again."

Mary also came out and pulled Lucy aside, saying a few words to calm her down.

After everything was settled, Mary and William went out to the small garden. She had been following William. Hesitating for a long time, she grabbed his hand and said, "William, I'm sorry. I apologize on behalf of my mom."

William was still a bit angry and said, "Your mom is too much. She hit Sarah today. Even if she doesn't like Sarah, she's still our daughter. I won't allow anyone to bully her."

Mary understood what William meant so she hugged him tightly and said, "I know it. I'll handle this. Don't worry."

The night passed without further incident. The next day, after Mary went to work, William returned to the Smith Family's old house.

As soon as he walked in, Margaret started throwing things and cursing, "What are you doing here? Get out!"

William couldn't be bothered to respond to her and coldly asked, "Tell me, who hit you?"

Margaret was stunned for a moment, then suspiciously frowned and said, "What, are you going to play the hero? Do you even have the ability to do that?"

In her eyes, William was justa useless man who couldn't help with anything and was more likely to cause trouble than solve it.
