Chapter 198 William Embarrasses Others
Dylan warmly extended his hand towards William for a handshake.
Everyone was stunned and dumbfounded, their minds in turmoil.
Terry, Anna, and the others were even more shocked, especially Anna, whose mouth was wide open, enough to fit two eggs.
She thought, 'Can someone tell me what is going on here?'
Stanley and Lori were also too shocked to speak, staring intently at the smiling and composed William.
They all thought, 'No, it can't be. It must be a mistake.'
Not only did he think so, but Anna and her friends thought the same.
"Mr. Brooks, you must be mistaken. How could he be Mr. Jones? He's just one of my relatives, a loser who has always been delivering food," Terry said sarcastically, interrupting Dylan and William's handshake.
"Exactly, he can't possibly be Mr. Jones." Anna shook her head vigorously.
It was an absolute joke.
If William were Mr. Jones, Anna would probably faint on the spot.
In the crowd, Lori, who was so angry she was confused, shouted sharply, "I can prove it; he's not Mr. Jones but just a poor man. Last time, I even saw him flirting with a woman. The only reason he got in here is because of that woman beside him."
How could it be?
William couldn't possibly be the person she had been thinking about all day.
But he remained silent, calmly looking at Terry, Anna, and the others.
His composure made them all a bit suspicious. How could he be so calm?
"William, get out of the way! Do you really think you can pretend to be a Jones just because of your last name? Do you even know who these people are? Do you think you can get away with pretending?" Terry stepped forward and shouted, trying to push William aside, but was stopped by Elbert.
"Open your eyes and look carefully. William is Mr. Jones for tonight," Elbert said sternly.
"What a joke!" Terry sneered, then aggressively said, "If he's Mr. Jones, then I'm the richest man in the world."
He thought, 'What a joke! How could William be the Mr. Jones who invests a billion dollars at a time? He is just a bona fide loser, who has to borrow money to treat his daughter's illness. Could such a poor man have a billion dollars? Definitely not.'
"Elbert, you really know how to brag. If William is Mr. Jones, I'll run naked around Lindwood City. Do you believe that?" Lori said sarcastically.
A burst of laughter erupted from the crowd.
The people around also began to mock without restraint because William was too young, and with Terry, Anna, and Lori's ruthless revealment, such a person couldn't be Mr. Jones.
Dylan must have made a mistake.
Some of them begran to suspect Dylan.
Dylan's face was very unpleasant, and he shouted angrily, "Enough."
He stepped forward, pointing at Lori and the others, and shouted angrily, "Who are you people? How dare you be so disrespectful to Mr. Jones? Who let you in? Security! Get them out of here!"
Everyone held their breath because of the scolding, and then stared at Dylan in shock.
Terry's face turned ugly. What did Dylan mean?
That was impossible.
While everyone was confused about the situation, Dylan bowed at a ninety-degree angle, standing respectfully in front of William like a schoolboy who had misbehaved. He apologized, "I'm sorry, it was my poor arrangement. I'll have these people who insulted you thrown out immediately."
After saying that, he shouted to the security guards at the door, "What are you waiting for? Get these people out of here."
William was Mr. Jones.
If he neglected Mr. Jones, his position as chairman of the Jones Group in Imperial City would be over.
The security guards, having received the order, hurried over.
Now, even a fool could see that the so-called loser was the legendary Mr. Jones.
Terry was already so shocked he didn't know his own name, stammering, "Are you Mr. Jones?"
William smiled calmly and replied, "Absolutely."
Anna screamed in terror, covering her mouth, her eyes wide open. "How could it be? It is impossible. You were clearly a loser, how could you be Mr. Jones?"
William was Mr. Jones.
Then why had he willingly stayed with the Smith Family for three years, being a loser son-in-law?
Lori, on the side, also widened her eyes, breathing heavily, unable to accept the fact. The Mr. Jones she had longed for, she would have been willing to sleep with even if he were an old man.
But why was it William?
He was clearly a loser.
Lori felt dizzy, her steps unsteady, almost losing her balance several times.
What had she just done?
He was Mr. Jones in Imperial City, a top-tier billionaire.
Clearly, Lori had underestimated William's wealth.
Stanley had already sneaked into the crowd and now finally realized that he was a fool.
How dare he challenge William, who casually invests a billion dollars.
His family's assets barely reached a billion.
Thinking back to the class reunion where he mocked William for being poor, compared companies with him, and even offered him a job, Stanley felt too ashamed to stay any longer.
How much had William been hiding?
He was actually so wealthy.
William looked at the stunned faces of the crowd, his eyes coldly fixed on Terry, then asked, "Terry, have you ever had a meal with me?"
Terry suddenly recalled the lie he told at the Smith Family earlier that day. It was incredibly embarrassing.
Anna's face was also flushed with shame. She bowed her head , trembling all over.
William's aura now was terrifying.
"No, you must be joking. I don't have the privilege to dine with you." Terry lowered his head, bowing deeply in front of William.
Sweat dripped from his forehead, falling onto his shoes.
Terry didn't dare to lift his head or straighten his back.
Because William hadn't spoken yet.
Anna stood behind Terry, her head bowed, her face full of panic and fear.
William didn't look at Terry, letting him suffer a bit, but instead turned to Lori, then said with a slight cold smile on his lips, "Lori, do you remember what you just said?"
Lori kept her head down, her eyes dodging, her fingers nervously tugging at her dress, looking very uneasy.
"I know, Lori just boasted that if William were Mr. Jones, she would apologize to William in front of everyone and run naked around Lindwood City," Elbert stepped forward, his eyes gleaming as he addressed everyone.
Lori's face was now full of shame and anger.
She didn't know what to do next.
"William, for the sake of our old friendship, can we just let it go?" Lori was truly a woman made of water, crying at the drop of a hat, her big eyes filled with tears, looking very pitiful.
Tears fell like broken pearls, pattering down.
However, William said, "You don't have to run naked, but you have to apologize to me in front of everyone.'"
"You!" Lori said through gritted teeth, looking like she wanted to eat William alive.
What to do? With so many people around, should she really apologize to him?
"Go on, Lori, don't tell me you dare to say it but not do it?"
Elbert laughed coldly. Lori had been quite arrogant in college, and she still was.
She actually dared to humiliate William; she was asking for trouble.
Dylan's face was also cold. Since William had spoken, he had to uphold William's reputation.
"Someone, if she can't do it, throw her out. Also, notify all companies in the city not to hire her. Anyone who dares to hire her is going against the Jones Group," Dylan said coldly with a darkened face.
Now, Lori was completely scared to tears.
It was pushing her to a dead end.
William frowned slightly, glanced at Dylan, but did not stop him.
It was time to warn these people.
Lori, full of shame and anger, finally succumbed to the pressure and said, "Sorry."
Then, with a red face, she pushed through the crowd and ran out.
William chuckled, shook his head, and then turned to the crowd, saying, "As for my identity, I hope everyone here can keep it a secret. I don't want my peaceful life to be disturbed."
After that, William gave a cold glance at Terry, Anna, and the others, making his meaning clear, and then walked towards the main seat, surrounded by the crowd.
Watching William being surrounded by many entrepreneurs, Terry's face looked like he had eaten something foul.
He still couldn't believe that the most useless William was actually the main character of tonight's banquet.
He was actually Mr. Jones.
Terry couldn't imagine how much money did William actually have.
Terry clenched his fists in anger, shot a glance at William on the stage, and then turned and left.
Tonight, Terry was destined to be a loser. He and Anna attended the banquet in a hurry and then left.
As for William's identity, they didn't dare to expose it because William's meaning was very clear.
Meanwhile, Mary watched the man in the crowd was surrounded by people from a distance. Because of the light, she couldn't see clearly, only getting a rough idea of his figure as he was escorted to the main seat.
She thought, 'Is this Mr. Jones? Why does he look somewhat familiar?'
Then she practiced several smiles before taking a high-stemmed glass from a waiter and walking towards the main seat.
