Chapter 194 Why Are You Here?

Terry found his reaction amusing and continued, "William, I have to admit, sometimes you're really naive. Today, it has been reserved by Mr. Brooks from the Jones Group. Did you see the notice at the entrance? Not just anyone can get in; at least someone of status in Lindwood City. For example, owning a company, having assets worth at least ten million, or holding a position in the Lindwood City government. Do you think you can get in? You should call Mary and see if she can bring you in."

"Terry, why waste time on him? He's just a nobody, here to wait for Mary," Anna mocked.

William frowned slightly.

But to Terry, he looked like a fool.

Terry patted William on the shoulder, adjusted his tie, and said, "Standing guard at the door. Such a good husband, waiting outside while your wife is inside mingling. It really suits your uselessness."

"Anna, let's go inside and let them enjoy the view outside." Terry pulled out an invitation from his pocket and deliberately waved it in front of William before handing it to the security personnel.

He passed through smoothly.

Before entering, Anna turned back and glared at William.

"William, why don't you show your invitation? Look at that fool's arrogant face; I really want to punch his head in," Elbert said angrily.

Genesis was also sulking, not understanding why someone as capable as William would tolerate it.

Elbert had told her about William's impressive background. The Jones Group in Imperial City belonged to him.

In other words, the special guest tonight was William.

William didn't say anything. He took out his invitation and handed it to the security, who respectfully let him through.

Only then did William and the other two step into the hotel.

In fact, William could have made a call and had everyone wait outside, but that would be too ostentatious, so he let it go.

They didn't rush into the venue but took the opportunity to look around.

Meanwhile, inside the hall, many famous local entrepreneurs and some celebrities from Lindwood City had already arrived.

They were toasting and chatting with each other.

"Have you heard it? The special guest of honor tonight is Mr. Jones from Imperial City."

"I know, the ten billion investment from BK Pharmaceuticals was personally approved by him。"

"Ten billion? That's incredibly generous. Have you found out where Mr. Jones is?"

Everyone looked shocked.

The attendees were no ordinary; they were prominent entrepreneurs, businessmen, government officials, and socialites. When they heard about the ten billion investment, they were all amazed.

"All we know is his last name is Jones, and everyone respectfully calls him Mr. Jones."

Speculations ran wild, and the legend of Mr. Jones spread like wildfire.

"Do you think Mr. Jones will come today?" Someone asked, looking around the crowd and at the people sitting on the sides.

"He'll definitely come. Tonight's banquet is specially for him. Otherwise, do you think we have the opportunity to meet Mr. Jones? I bet Mr. Jones is already here. We should be careful with our words; if we accidentally offend him, we're done for," someone whispered.

Soon, the news spread, and people started looking for anyone with the last name Jones. Anyone with that surname would immediately be approached and flattered.

But everyone was disappointed; they couldn't find him.

In a corner, a group of people were sitting on a sofa and talking quietly.

"Stanley, your dad is quite impressive. I saw your dad's name on the main seat over there," Lori complimented.

If William had been here, he would have been surprised to see that Stanley and Lori were also present.

It was truly a gathering of elites.

Stanley smiled, glanced at the main seat, and said, "It's nothing special. They arranged it for my dad, but it's just a seat."

He was deliberately putting on airs.

But no one said anything.

"By the way, do you know what Mr. Jones looks like? Is he young or old?" Lori suddenly became interested.

Stanley shook his head and said, "I don't know. I asked my dad, and he hadn't seen him either. He just said Mr. Jones would be here tonight."

"Really? That's great. I definitely want to meet Mr. Jones," Lori said, her face full of girlish excitement. She even adjusted her collar to show off her cleavage.

"Lori, aren't you worried he might be an old man?" Amy joked from the side.

"I don't mind. He's someone who can throw around ten billion dollars. Who will care about his age as long as he likes me," Lori said while touching up her makeup. Then she added, "Amy, do I look good?"

Amy nodded and replied, then took out her own makeup kit to touch up.

Stanley watched all these and shook his head helplessly.

These two women were just too materialistic.

However, he had already had his way with both of them.

"Aren't you worried it might be William? His last name is Jones, too," Stanley suddenly joked.

Lori froze and then cursed, "Him? That fool? I wouldn't sleep with him. If he were Mr. Jones, I'd run naked around Lindwood City."

Stanley secretly gave Lori a thumbs-up for her boldness.

At that moment, William and his two companions appeared at the entrance of the banquet hall.

"How did they get in?" Lori was just about to go to the restroom when she saw the three of them looking around. Her face immediately darkened.

How did William and Elbert get in?

And who was that girl with them? She looked pretty and seemed wealthy.

These were not only Lori's questions but also Stanley's.

William and his two companions had actually gotten in.

Lori immediately swayed her hips, crossed her arms, and walked over arrogantly.

"William, who let you in? Do you know where you are? How dare you come in here? Get out now! If someone finds out, you're done for," Lori said, rolling her eyes and putting on airs.

She had known Elbert since they were college alumni.

Genesis was already in a bad mood, and now another woman was picking on William. She immediately pointed and said, "Hey, why are you so nasty? We can come in if we want. It's none of your business."

"Exactly, Lori. Don't look down on people. It's not like only you can come in," Elbert said with a glance.

"Elbert, what does it have to do with you? Get lost!" Lori cursed and moved to scratch him.

William's face darkened as he blocked her, glaring and saying, "Lori, have we wronged you in any way? Do you have to be so aggressive? Besides, what does it matter to you if we can come in?"

Lori was stunned, her face instantly losing color.

She was actually scared by William's glare.

Instantly, Lori was both embarrassed and angry. She jabbed a finger almost into William's nose and shouted, "William, calling you a fool is a compliment. Do you even know your place? Tonight's banquet is for Mr. Jones. Do you really think you belong here?"

"Why can't I be here? Is there a rule about who gets to come and who doesn't?" William said coldly, his anger rising at Lori's arrogant attitude.

"Not just anyone is allowed in," Stanley said as he walked over, hands in his pockets, with a smug smile.

"William, if you want to see the sights, you can turn right and hit the road," Stanley said arrogantly, pointing to the ground. "But here, tonight's guest of honor is Mr. Jones. You have seen it, everyone here is either famous or rich. Do you think a loser like you belongs here?"

It was blatant disdain.

"Stanley, is this banquet that important to you? Are you all so eager to curry favor with the young master of the Jones Group? What if I told you that I am the real deal, the actual young master of the Jones Group?" William said calmly with a hint of confidence in his eyes.
