Chapter 268 The Price family of Radiant Harbor City!
Someone shouted, "Gideon! Mind your manners!"
At that moment, an elderly man with a dignified presence but a slightly weary expression stepped out of a nearby Rolls-Royce, followed by a group of well-dressed men and women.
"Grandpa, look at this guy, standing here blocking your way!" Gideon scolded.
He promptly showed respect, supporting the elder while giving William a stern look.
William felt helpless. He thought, 'Who did I offend by just standing here? Is the road built by your family?'
"Nonsense! How have I taught you? When you're out, you must reason with people and never judge by appearances! Apologize!" the old man said sternly, tapping his cane on the ground.
"Grandpa, I was just..." Gideon tried to explain, his face immediately turning awkward.
"Go now!" the old man said sternly again.
Gideon seemed very afraid of his grandfather. After hesitating for a moment, he turned to William with a look of reluctance and resentment, gritting his teeth as he said, "I'm sorry for my earlier offense."
After speaking, he stood aside without looking back, crossing his arms and glaring at William with hostility.
Leopold walked over, smiling warmly as he introduced himself. "My name is Leopold Norwood, and this is my grandson Gideon Norwood. It's my fault for not teaching him well, and I apologize for any offense. If there's anything you're unhappy about, just let me know, and I'll have him come to apologize in person another day."
William quickly shook his head and said, "No need. Young people, I know, they have a temper. It's fine."
"Stop pretending, acting like you're older than me," Gideon muttered under his breath, only to be silenced by a stern look from Leopold.
William gave an awkward smile and said nothing more.
Gideon shot a hateful glance at William, clearly remembering him, before following the group into the restaurant.
"I know that Gideon. He's from the Norwood family in Sunshine Bay City. He's got a terrible temper. That old man is Leopold, the head of the Norwood family," Betty said, her arms crossed and a faint look of displeasure on her face.
William shrugged, not thinking much of it.
A Norwood family? He didn't need to worry about them.
Just then, a stylishly dressed woman approached and called out, "Betty!"
She wore a long black dress, her wavy hair draped over her shoulders. With a fair face and delicate features, she exuded an outstanding aura.
Moreover, her deep V-neck dress added a touch of allure and charm to her.
Her long, slender legs were well-proportioned, complementing her tall and elegant figure. She was a true beauty, every bit as attractive and graceful as Betty.
"Harper," Betty said as she hugged the approaching woman like a little girl.
"Long time no see, you've grown up," Harper said, affectionately ruffling Betty's hair, a gentle smile on her face.
Harper suddenly noticed William standing nearby and asked curiously, "Who's this?"
Betty quickly took William's arm and introduced him, "Oh, he's my boyfriend."
She was worried William might slip up, so she gave him a warning look, signaling with her eyes.
William wasn't an idiot; he understood her meaning and nodded helplessly.
"Boyfriend?" Harper asked, looking surprised at first. After sizing up William, she extended her smooth, delicate hand and smiled slightly, saying, "Hello, I'm Harper Price, Betty's best friend."
"William," William said as he shook her hand but quickly let go.
'Wow, her hand is so soft!' William exclaimed in his mind.
Harper looked at Betty, teasing her, "Betty, when did you get a boyfriend? Why didn't I know?"
Betty replied, "Oh, I just didn't have time to tell you. Anyway, now you know, it's not too late."
Shen then let go of William and hugged Harper's arm, acting spoiled.
Betty suddenly looked at William, raising her eyebrows proudly as she asked, "By the way, do you know who Harper is?"
William shrugged and smiled, saying, "No idea."
'Is she someone important?' William wondered.
Harper rolled her eyes at Betty and said with a smile, "Alright, stop talking nonsense."
Betty chuckled mischievously, saying, "Harper is from the Price family in Radiant Harbor City. Impressive, right?"
The Price family in Radiant Harbor City?!
Suddenly, William's pupils contracted, and he stared intently at Harper!
His mother, Aurora, was also from Price's family!
Betty saw William's stunned expression and laughed, nudging him and saying, "No need to be so shocked. Everyone knows the Price family in Radiant Harbor City. You act like it's the first time you've heard of them."
Harper also frowned slightly, looking at William with some confusion. She thought, 'This guy is strange. Why does he look at me so oddly?'
William was profoundly shaken, his eyes reddening as he eventually emerged from his daze.
He never expected to meet someone from his mother's family. Harper might even be related to him.
William had once tried to contact the Price family in Radiant Harbor City but failed.
It seemed that a powerful force was secretly preventing him from reaching the Price family.
As a result, William gradually let go of the matter.
But he never ceased attempts to contact the Price family in Radiant Harbor City, needing to confirm something.
"I've only seen the Price family of Radiant Harbor City on TV before. I never thought I'd meet someone from that big family today. Truly impressive," William said with a flattering smile.
'An unexpected gain,' William thought silently.
Harper playfully scolded Betty, "It's all your fault for being so talkative."
Betty stuck out her tongue, not taking it seriously.
A few minutes later, in a private room at Royal Orchid Fine Dining, Betty walked in arm-in-arm with William, with Harper by their side.
"Betty, over here!" As soon as they entered, someone called out Betty's name loudly.
Betty looked over and saw that the large private room was already filled with seven or eight people.
The one calling out to Betty was none other than Simeon, who had been pursuing her.
Simeon noticed William beside Betty and saw that she was holding William's arm as they walked in!
He thought in shock, 'How could this be? Could they be... Impossible! Absolutely impossible!'
William also saw Simeon and gave him a kind smile.
But to Simeon, that smile was a blatant mockery and show-off!
He angrily watched as Betty led William to sit down, then downed the drink in front of him in frustration!
"Mr. Collins, what's wrong? It seems like Betty is ignoring you," a man sitting next to Simeon asked curiously.
"Mind your own business!" Simeon snapped.
He was already unhappy, so he naturally had no patience.
The private room had about ten people, some of whom didn't know each other well, and they were all chatting and mingling.
Overall, the attendees were all playboys and rich girls.
"Betty, you're finally here. We've been waiting for you," a girl of the same age as Betty greeted.
She was decent-looking but far inferior to Betty and Harper.
And her makeup was too thick!
The girl wore a red crop top that revealed a large part of her chest, black stockings, and a mole at the corner of her mouth. Her face was full of smiles.
"This is my college classmate, Emilia, a local from Lindwood City. She came up with this gathering since we haven't seen each other in a long time," Betty introduced her to William with a smile.
But Emilia didn't even glance at William. She looked at Harper and asked, "Is this the best friend you mentioned? Wow, such a beauty."
As she spoke, Emilia stood up, took Betty's hand, and introduced her to the others in the room, "Hey, everyone, this is Betty, one of the four beauties of Lindwood City and Alan's daughter. Isn't she beautiful?"
"And this is Betty's best friend, a genuine goddess! From the Price family of Radiant Harbor City!" Emilia added, placing her hands on Harper's shoulders and smiling.
She knew Betty and was aware that Betty had a best friend from the Price family of Radiant Harbor City!
That was an extraordinary family!
Although they had suddenly withdrawn from many markets in many regions over a decade ago, their influence remained significant.
"Hello, everyone, I'm Harper," Harper said gracefully, her sweet smile enchanting everyone.
Everyone stood up, offering their most sincere smiles and warm greetings.
Betty also bowed slightly, introducing herself softly, "Hello, everyone, I'm Betty." Then she suddenly turned to William and said, "This is my boyfriend, William!"
Everyone just nodded slightly, not even giving William a proper look.
William didn't say much either, sitting down next to Betty. He could clearly feel the unfriendly gazes from everyone present.
Someone said disdainfully, "A bumpkin, daring to sit here."
Another echoed, "Exactly, Betty, your boyfriend looks a bit shabby."
Someone scoffed, "Sitting with such a poor guy, I feel embarrassed and degraded."
Instantly, several discordant and mocking voices echoed in the private room.
They flattered Betty out of respect for Alan, but as for a poor guy with no background, there was no need to be polite.
