Chapter 385 Ellie
William didn't see it coming when Mary popped up and caught him chatting with Harper.
He was totally thrown off.
How the heck was he gonna explain this?
Harper, sensing the awkward vibe, jumped in, "Ms. Smith, you got it wrong. I was just talking about the new drug with William. Actually, I wanna team up with you on behalf of the Price family."
Mary's ears perked up at the word "collaboration."
They dove right into the convo.
In the end, Mary shot William a slightly annoyed look, "Why didn't you tell me sooner?"
William laughed, "I wanted to see how things played out first."
Mary rolled her eyes, "Let's get outta here."
William didn't budge. He glanced at Harper, "I got something to handle. Let Harper take you back."
Mary, a bit anxious, remembered Scarlett's earlier invite to William, "What's up?"
William caught on quick, "It's nothing, don't stress. Just checking some stuff out."
Mary frowned, thought for a sec, then kissed his cheek, "Come back soon."
She left with Harper.
William sighed, turned, and headed into the hotel. He asked a waiter with a grin, "Hey, how do I get to suite 668 on the top floor?"
Standing at the door of suite 668, William hesitated, then rang the bell.
Feeling kinda guilty, he rang a few more times. No answer. He tried the door—it was open.
He slipped inside, and his heart skipped a beat, nosebleed city.
Scarlett had just showered, her hair down, wrapped in a simple but sexy white towel.
Her figure was jaw-dropping, and the room smelled amazing.
Scarlett stood barefoot on the carpet, radiating an irresistible allure.
William couldn't help but wonder if she was only wearing that towel.
Feeling a bit guilty, he thought, 'What's Scarlett up to?'
Scarlett leaned forward, her eyes locking with his, leaving him dazed.
Any other guy would've caved, but William had a strong will. He rushed to the bathroom, splashed cold water on his face.
But the bathroom was filled with Scarlett's scent, and he noticed her clothes on the sink.
Dizzy, he kept splashing water, but his nose wouldn't stop bleeding.
He grabbed a towel, wiped his face, and even the towel smelled enticing.
Taking a deep breath, he heard a voice, "That's the towel I just used."
Scarlett stood at the door, smiling.
William hesitated, and his nose bled again.
After cleaning up, he looked at Scarlett, feeling frustrated.
"What do you want from me?" William asked seriously.
Scarlett leaned against the door frame, stretching and yawning.
"Answer me," William said, walking towards her, eyes cold.
"I was surprised to see you here too," Scarlett said lazily, standing up straight, her eyes sparkling.
Even in a towel, she oozed charm.
"And?" William sneered. He knew Scarlett had gone to great lengths to get close to him, meaning she had a motive.
"Can't I just admire you and wanna get close?" Scarlett said, biting her lip, looking all innocent.
"That might fool a toddler," William shot back. "Why did the Ashford family send you here?"
Scarlett probably needed a good reality check to spill the beans!
"Seriously, nothing. Just wanted to see what the big deal about Mr. Jones is," Scarlett said. "You're the first guy to see me like this and not lose it."
"Cut the crap. You, a big star, inviting me to your suite at night, dressed like that, just to test me?" William said, struggling to keep his eyes off her.
"Believe it or not, I'm just curious," Scarlett said, smiling. "I'm curious about how you kicked the Henderson family out of Imperial City, your strategy with the Gonzales family, or maybe I'm interested in Skyheart Island."
"You're playing with fire!" William snapped, his eyes cold.
Scarlett shivered. Seeing William's icy stare, she realized she'd gone too far. Alone in the suite with him, she worried pushing him might lead to trouble.
"I'm just curious why you'd stay at BK Pharmaceuticals, be a live-in son-in-law, and put up with that crap for three years," Scarlett said, trying to stay calm.
William's eyes were locked on her, trying to read her.
"This is the first and last time," William said coldly. "What does the Ashford family want, or what does your grandpa want?"
"Medicine, a new anti-cancer drug," Scarlett said, her smile fading.
"Why's the Ashford family interested? They wanna get into pharma too?" William asked, eyes narrowing.
"Honestly, I find it boring too. But my grandpa asked me to check it out. So, here I am," Scarlett said nonchalantly.
"Emrys," William muttered. Why would he care about BK Pharmaceuticals' new drug?
"Oh, that's all my grandpa's doing. Now it's just you and me. By the way, I heard your wife's pregnant," Scarlett said, smiling and wrapping her arms around William's neck. It was a bold move.
This was the first time Scarlett had made such a move on a stranger, so William could feel her body trembling slightly.
"So, I'm dressed like this, and you still don't wanna do anything?" Scarlett said, her smile provocative.
"You're playing with fire," William said.
"If you're the fire, I hope you burn me," Scarlett said, leaning forward, her move undeniably seductive.
William felt a rush of heat in his nose again and bolted.
Scarlett watched him run out, sighed, and thought, 'Still a failure. What would Emrys think?'
She stood in front of the mirror, looking at her graceful figure.
A blush crept up her face. In the past, countless men had gone crazy wanting her, and she had refused them all. But tonight, she had made the first move and got rejected.
She covered her burning cheeks with her hands, muttering, "Am I not pretty or sexy enough? Why did he reject me? This is getting interesting."
After running out of the suite, William took a deep breath. Just as he was about to leave, he saw a graceful figure coming out of a room to his right.
They locked eyes.
The woman wore a black trench coat, long legs wrapped in sheer black stockings, fiery red lips, and wavy hair.
They looked at each other.
Then, she silently put on her sunglasses, her lips curling into a knowing smile.
William was stunned.
At that moment, his mind went blank.
"Ellie!" he shouted and suddenly chased after the departing woman.
