Chapter 104: What Gift Did You Give?

‘Bennett?’ Emily looked at William suspiciously, unable to see any hint of a joke on his face.
‘What does William mean?’ Emily thought. ‘Does he know who Bennett is? He's a national stock market legend, a mythical figure! With a net worth in the billions, he's one of the top names on the global Forbes rich list! How can William casually meet such a big shot, someone everyone looks up to?’

"Come on, William, are you addicted to bragging now?" Emily just assumed William was joking, gave him a resentful look, and ignored him.

If William knew what Emily was thinking at this moment, he would probably laugh his head off.

‘Is Bennett really that impressive? All those billions are managed for me, after all.’ William pondered.

Shaking his head with a wry smile, William silently walked out of the yard, went to a secluded place, and took out another phone. After searching for a while, he found Bennett's number and called him.

Soon, an extremely exciting and reverent voice came from the other end of the line, sounding a bit aged. "Honorable Mr. Jones, is that you? I've been waiting for this call for so long. I can't believe you still remember me."

As he spoke, faint sobbing could be heard from the other end.

William felt quite awkward and quickly said, "Bennett, where are you working these days?"

"Please don't joke with me, Mr. Jones. I've invested your assets globally, currently valued at 130 billion. Do you want to come and take a look?" At this moment, Bennett, standing in a luxurious European-style estate, looked extremely respectful. The dozens of maids around him were also very surprised.

There was no one else in the world who could make Mr. Bennett so respectful.

Even his voluptuous, blonde, blue-eyed secretary looked shocked.

"No need. I just want to tell you something. If you have time, come over here. I have a friend who wants to meet you." William said calmly.

"Mr. Jones, I will fulfill your request. I'll fly over tomorrow. Let your friend wait for me." Bennett said excitedly.

William quickly said, "No need to rush, just wait a while. Alright, I have something else to do. I'll hang up now."

Bennett was really enthusiastic.

"Mr. Jones, is there anything you need help with?" Bennett on the other end of the phone was eager to help William.

William was the one who gave him all his wealth. Without William, there would be no Bennett.

"No need. I'm attending my wife's grandfather's birthday party," William said, then hung up the phone.

Shortly after hanging up, Bennett paced back and forth in a grand and opulent conference room.

"Alice, book me a flight to Celestia immediately. I need to fly to Celestia tomorrow and find out who Mr. Jones' grandfather-in-law is. If he has any businesses, we will invest in them," Bennett said excitedly. "Let's start with a billion!"

The sexy secretary replied, "Yes, boss. I'll get right on it."

With that, she turned and left.

Back to William, he had no idea that his phone call had caused a misunderstanding.

About half an hour later, the Turner family's business received a billion-dollar investment from a massive financial group!

But the Turner family had no idea now.

William returned to the banquet and sat down next to Mary.

"Where did you go?" Mary asked.

"Bathroom," William replied.

At the head of the banquet, Roy was chatting happily with several of his children and old friends.

Everyone was stepping forward to congratulate Roy.

"Grandpa Roy, may you have boundless longevity and happiness!" Wade stepped forward to congratulate and presented his gift, saying proudly, "This is a sapphire I specially commissioned an artist to make for you."

Roy smiled broadly, patting Wade on the shoulder. He said, "Good, my dear Wade. This is for you."

With that, Roy handed Wade a gift bag.

Inside the gift bag was, of course, a card worth a million dollars.

Wade accepted it happily.

William shrugged, with an indifferent expression.

He had no interest in anyone in the Turner family now. All he could feel was selfishness.

Next was Daniel, who gifted a painting. "Grandpa Roy, this is a work by Mark."

Roy was delighted and kept praising Daniel.

In an instant, Daniel was praised in front of everyone, feeling very proud. Wade, on the other hand, had a slight change in expression.

Daniel also received a gift bag and stood aside, feeling very pleased.

David nodded slightly because Daniel had finally outperformed Wade.

Andy secretly clenched his fists. He had only one son Wade, who was uneducated and spoiled by him. It seemed that after this party, he needed to teach Wade well.

Otherwise, no matter how large the family fortune, it wouldn't be enough for Wade to squander.

It was Emily's turn. She stood up, glanced at Mary and William, and sighed.

"Grandpa Roy, this is my acceptance letter from Everton University. I'm going to pursue a PhD." Emily handed over the letter directly.

That was how a top student gave a gift. What an understated gift!

Everyone in the room looked utterly shocked.

Everton University is the most esteemed institution!

Roy was so happy that his eyes squinted with joy. Holding the letter, he couldn't help but praise, "Good! Emily didn't let me down. The Turner family is going to have a remarkable woman."

A group of people followed with compliments.

Roy gave her a gift bag, which Emily accepted.

Then, under the expectant eyes of everyone, Jonathan, who had been sitting all along, slowly stood up and walked empty-handed to Roy, calmly saying, "Grandpa Roy, I came in a hurry and didn't bring any gifts."

Everyone was stunned!

No gift?

This wasn't like Jonathan at all.

David, on the other hand, sat calmly, sipping coffee with a serene expression, as if he had known in advance.

Wade and Daniel couldn't wait to jump out and accuse, "Jonathan, how could you not prepare a gift for such an important birthday party? Are you not taking Grandpa Roy seriously?"

What a provocation!

Jonathan raised an eyebrow, his calm eyes showing a look of disdain.

Roy smiled and said, "It's okay. Jonathan's company is so busy. It's understandable if he forgot."

This was Roy's indulgence towards Jonathan.

Everyone else had nothing more to say.

But then, Jonathan calmly said, "Grandpa Roy, I've secured the South City Oasis Development Project."

With one sentence, everyone in the room turned their eyes to Jonathan!

This guy was impressive!

This gift overshadowed everything!

The South City Oasis Development Project was a project worth three billion dollars!

The Turner family securing it meant at least five hundred million in future profits!

In other words, Jonathan brought the Turner family five hundred million in profits by himself!

Up to this point, David, who had been calm, finally showed a slight smile.

Roy was so excited that he stood up. He asked Jonathan with wide eyes, "Did you really secure it?"

Jonathan nodded. "Yes, I did."

"Good! You’re so amazing!" This clearly showed Roy's excitement and joy.

"No wonder you're the one I have the most faith in, Jonathan. The Turner family has a bright future!" Roy kept nodding in praise, then turned to David and said, "David, from now on, hand over the family business to Jonathan whenever possible. With him around, I'm at ease."

The announcement caused an uproar.

This was a decision to hand over power!

Roy had decided to groom Jonathan as the successor!

David responded, "Yes, Dad."

Jonathan sat down next to David, who said, "Well done. If you have any issues, ask me. I'll help you with the procedures."

Jonathan nodded.

The atmosphere became lively, with everyone raising their glasses to congratulate Roy and the Turner family for securing the South City Oasis Development Project.

This would elevate the Turner family's status in Lindwood City!

Only Andy was sullen, glaring fiercely at Wade.

‘Useless Wade!’ Andy thought.

Wade knew Andy was displeased with him and glanced over to see William sitting with Mary, chatting and laughing.

Wade stood up and sarcastically said, "Mary, why don't you come and congratulate Grandpa Roy? What gift did you bring? Show us."

With that, everyone turned their eyes to the table near the door.

The looks were complex, full of mocking, disdainful, and scornful eyes with some anger.

The anger naturally came from Margaret.

She pondered, ‘Damn it, I know this will be embarrassing!’

Mary was also very nervous. She glanced at William, who took out a small box from his pocket and handed it to Mary, saying, "It's okay. Go ahead and give it."

"Are you sure?" Mary took the small box, feeling very doubtful and nervous.

At this moment, if it turned into a joke, it would be a huge embarrassment.

Mary thought, 'Forget it. After dinner, I will just take William and leave.'

Then, under the cold and malicious gazes of everyone, Mary took the small box from William, slowly stood up, and walked towards Roy.
