Chapter 369 Is This Rolls-Royce Yours
The flashy chick, holding her head and looking all puffy, wobbled to her feet in those killer heels, totally missing whatever William was saying.
Endymion barked, shooting daggers at William. Then he turned to Harper and sneered, "Harper, you better think hard. You got three days. Wanna know where your mom is? Come find me."
"Get outta here!" William yelled, itching to kick him again.
Endymion, freaked out, stumbled back. He shot William a nasty look, pointed a finger, and hissed, "You'll regret this!"
Then he and his crew bolted out of the bar.
Once they were gone, Harper finally exhaled and said to William, "Thanks."
She knew Endymion was just there to stir up trouble. Without William, she would've been totally lost.
She had three days to figure it out.
Thinking about all the crap she and Brooklyn had been through, she couldn't hold back the tears.
She covered her face, totally overwhelmed, and sank to the floor, bawling her eyes out.
William was freaked, but he knew she needed to let it out, so he didn't stop her. He got the waiter to bring over two drinks and then chilled in the booth, waiting for her to finish her meltdown.
After a bit, Harper finally calmed down. She got up, wiped her eyes, glanced at William, and snatched the cocktail from his hand, downing it in one go.
"Hey, that was mine," William said, looking all hurt.
He felt a bit helpless but kept quiet.
"So, what's the plan?" he asked.
Harper plopped down next to him, staring blankly at the noisy crowd downstairs. The ruckus here didn't faze the partygoers at all. Bar drama was just another Tuesday night, so no one cared.
"I dunno, but I gotta find out about my mom," Harper said, her voice all raspy.
William nodded, thought for a bit, and then said, "Maybe I can help."
Harper turned to him, her tear-streaked face looking like a lost kitten, and asked, "How?"
William looked at her, feeling his heart break, and said, "We beat the crap outta him, and he'll spill everything."
Harper couldn't help but laugh, rolling her eyes. "I got my own way of dealing with this. Don't get involved; I don't wanna drag you into this mess."
She was still the cool and classy Harper.
William hesitated for a while before blurting out, "Actually, the Price family ain't nothing to me. I can make Endymion cough up your mom's location."
His mom Aurora was from the Price family was, too. As the Jones family heir, he should have some pull, right?
He wondered how his grandpa Ezekiel Price was doing these days.
Harper looked at William, thinking he was just messing around. "Thanks."
"Seriously, you don't need my help?" William asked again.
He added, "You sure you can handle Endymion? What if he tries to hurt you?"
Harper rubbed her hands, clearly unsure, and said with a hint of sadness, "Then help me when the time comes."
William chuckled. "Exactly, having an extra pair of hands means more safety. If he tries anything, I got your back."
Harper nodded firmly. Everything tonight had been a whirlwind, catching her totally off guard.
Sensing her worry, William joked, "Don't sweat it. With me watching your back, no one's gonna mess with you."
Harper couldn't help but laugh, rolling her eyes again. "You're so full of yourself."
William shrugged, not arguing.
Seeing his confident grin, Harper started to relax. Having him around always made her feel safe.
Harper found it weird herself. Even though she and William were from totally different worlds, why did he always show up when she needed him most?
"I'm heading back. Stay as long as you want. Drink up, it's on me," Harper said, standing up, looking worn out. The night's events had really taken a toll on her.
"Alright, just call me when you wanna go," William said.
Harper gave some instructions to the bar staff before leaving.
William sat alone in the booth on the second floor, savoring the cocktail the waiter had just brought. Even the glass was fancy, a delicate crystal one, catching the colorful lights just right.
He kicked back on the leather sofa, took a swig of his cocktail, and watched the party animals below, thinking how happy they were to be living.
As for Endymion, William already had some tricks up his sleeve. He needed to squash this drama fast.
Sipping his drink, he started feeling a bit buzzed.
As he squinted at the dancing crowd, he saw a beauty.
She was rocking black hot pants and a black strapless top, her features sharp and icy, with eyes that could cut glass.
When their eyes locked, William felt a jolt, goosebumps popping up all over.
But when he looked again, she was gone.
It was so weird!
Why did it feel like that?
William jumped up, scanning the crowd for her, but she was nowhere to be found.
"Why did I think she looked like my sister Ellie?" William muttered, breaking into a cold sweat.
If Ellie hadn't had that accident, she'd be twenty now.
That incident had crushed William.
Everyone said Ellie was dead, but they never found her body.
William never stopped looking, but it was always a dead end.
Eventually, he accepted that Ellie was no longer alive.
But that split-second glimpse reignited a flicker of hope.
William couldn't shake it off, so he bolted out of the bar and found Benjamin to reopen the search for Ellie.
He had a gut feeling Ellie was still out there.
Benjamin was confused; the case was closed. Why dig it up again? But he couldn't say no to William.
A few days later, William met George in a café. George looked way older.
George spoke with deep respect, "Sir, Nicholas is doing fine now."
Upon hearing this, William, sipping his tea, finally relaxed. He asked, "What's up with the Jones family offshoots?"
William was still ticked off at the Jones family branch. If Jessica hadn't stopped him, he would've gone back to raise hell and show them who's boss.
"Sir, you might not know, but Nicholas orchestrated the whole thing," George said, his face lighting up with pride.
"What?" William asked, sensing something big.
"Sir, Nicholas being controlled by the offshoots was part of his plan. He set a trap for the branch family. This time, he used their greed to catch them off guard and scored big," George explained, detailing the recent events on Skyheart Island. William was blown away.
Nicholas was a real mastermind.
He single-handedly took on the branch family and even snagged major benefits from them.
The branch family dominated the domestic pharmaceutical resources, as the main family had shown little interest in this area.
However, Nicholas seized half of those resources this time.
This shifted the balance, making the main family and the branch family almost equal competitors in the domestic pharmaceutical industry moving forward.
Nicholas was a legend!
William laughed heartily, feeling super pleased. He hadn't expected the branch family to take a hit.
"What about Jessica?" William asked eagerly.
"She took a hit too. She tried to smooth things over but got called out by Nicholas on the spot. She was humiliated. She probably won't be back in Lindwood City for a while. She's got some family stuff to deal with," George replied, a hint of satisfaction in his eyes.
After chilling for half an hour, William hopped into George's car and headed back to Villa No.1.
But as soon as he got out, he saw a few people at the villa's gate, lugging big bags like they were moving in.
It was Nancy and her parents, Ulysses and Delia.
What the heck?
His secret was about to blow wide open!
Nancy, Ulysses, and Delia were floored when they saw William step out of the Rolls-Royce.
How could William get out of a ride like that?
Nancy, dressed to impress, was all over the car. She circled around William, eyes gleaming with excitement, and asked, "William, is that Rolls-Royce yours?"
Who was William, really? He lived in a villa and rode in a Rolls-Royce.
Wasn't he supposed to be a nobody?
Why had he changed so much lately?
Did he hit the jackpot?
With Ulysses and Delia eyeing him suspiciously, William felt a bit uneasy and said, "Yeah, that car is mine..."
