Chapter 454 Scarlett's Dominance!
Everyone was floored.
Alvin, the president of the top bodyguard group in Lindwood City, was playing doorman? Whoever was in that car had to be a big deal!
Scarlett stepped out in black heels and a sharp black suit, her face icy. She gave Alvin a faint smile.
"Ms. Ashford," Alvin greeted her.
Yosef, Ronan, and the others came over, all respectful.
Scarlett nodded, looked around, and asked coldly, "Where is he?"
Yosef, looking nervous, glanced at Thelonious and said, "He's still inside."
Scarlett frowned and looked at Alvin, who immediately barked, "Thelonious, get over here."
Thelonious was already in shock. He recognized the woman who just got out of the car.
She was the young lady of the Ashford family, the top family among the four hidden families in Imperial City!
This family was the most prestigious and powerful one.
Thelonious was sweating bullets. He dragged his feet over to Alvin and forced a smile. "Ms. Ashford, I didn't expect to see you here."
Scarlett gave him a cold look. "You know me?"
Thelonious quickly wiped his forehead and forced a smile. "I once visited the Ashford family with my brother and met you. Of course, you wouldn't remember me."
Scarlett nodded, saying nothing more.
Alvin then asked, "Thelonious, did you capture someone named William?"
Thelonious knew he was in deep trouble. He glanced at Yosef, who looked at him like he was a dead man walking.
He swallowed hard. "Yes, I did capture William because he severely injured my nephew. The Gonzales family demands accountability."
He was trying to use the Gonzales family as leverage, hoping Scarlett would think twice.
Alvin frowned. How could anyone dare to capture William? The previous lessons were still fresh in his mind.
"Your bodyguards wanted to take him away, but I didn't agree," Thelonious continued, glancing at Scarlett.
The message was clear: he was against letting the Ashford family take William.
Alvin wanted to ask more, but Scarlett's face turned cold. "I don't care about your family's matters. I need to see William immediately."
Her tone was icy and firm, leaving no room for negotiation. She didn't even consider Thelonious worth her time.
Even Alvin didn't get a second glance from her.
Thelonious trembled. He knew what would happen once Scarlett went inside. His back was drenched in sweat.
Seeing Thelonious hesitate, Alvin frowned. "Thelonious, are you okay? Why are you sweating so much?"
Thelonious forced a smile and wiped his forehead, but Ronan sarcastically said, "He should be feeling unwell. Once we go inside, he'll probably wet his pants."
Hearing this, Thelonious, eager to change the subject, jumped up in anger. "How dare you? Is this the kind of person the Ashford family selects? How dare you speak to me like that! I am Thelonious from the Gonzales family! I represent the Gonzales family!"
Thelonious sneered inside but acted all riled up. He was actually saying it to Scarlett, trying to show he was a big deal from the Gonzales family. Of course, he didn't dare say it outright.
"Shut up!" a voice boomed.
This time, it wasn't Yosef, Ronan, or even Scarlett—it was Alvin.
Getting yelled at by Alvin in front of everyone made Thelonious feel humiliated. He never expected Alvin to call him out like that, especially at such a critical moment. After all, he was from the Gonzales family. Even if Alvin was powerful, he had no family backing him up.
Alvin glared at Thelonious and said, "Stop wasting time and take Ms. Ashford inside!"
Thelonious felt utterly humiliated. Standing in front of Scarlett, a girl in her twenties, made him feel weak and infuriated. He knew Scarlett had a special status, but it was this very status that made Thelonious feel that despite working hard for most of his life, he still couldn't compete with her background.
Alvin's expression was equally troubled. He hadn't wanted to get involved, but since Scarlett was from the Ashford family, he had to fully cooperate. Plus, they had captured William again. He just hoped this time things wouldn't spiral out of control.
Seeing Thelonious standing there like a statue, Alvin's face darkened. "Thelonious! What's wrong with you? Are you deaf or just old? Didn't you hear what I said? This is Lindwood City, not the Gonzales family! Now, lead the way!"
Thelonious's face turned completely dark. But he held back his anger, knowing that he couldn't go too far. If he offended Alvin and Scarlett, he wouldn't be able to handle it.
Still, he tried to push back a bit. "Alvin, the one who got beaten up this time is my nephew."
Scarlett's eyes sparkled coldly. "Three minutes have passed, Thelonious. Are you trying to waste my time? I need to see William right now. If you keep stalling, the Gonzales family will bear all the consequences!"
Alvin's heart skipped a beat. Scarlett was clearly pissed, and he quickly shouted at Thelonious, "Thelonious, I don't care who got beaten up. Lead the way quickly and don't mess things up. Otherwise, even the Gonzales family can't bear the wrath of the Ashford family!"
Thelonious knew he couldn't delay any longer. Muttering under his breath, "How big of a deal can it be?" he led the way with a sullen face. Since Alvin said so, if he kept stalling, it would look deliberate.
Inside, William was still sitting leisurely, not looking anxious at all. Santino, on the other hand, looked extremely distressed. He seemed very nervous, his legs trembling slightly, and large beads of sweat were rolling down his forehead.
William looked up, somewhat amused, and said to Santino, "Do I need to say anything more?"
Santino frowned deeply. He had just learned something incredible from William's mouth, something that sent a chill down his spine.
