Chapter 318 One Must Have Self-Awareness

William shrugged and said nothing.

Harper continued, "Maybe everyone thinks the Jones Group in Imperial City is very wealthy, but many families in Imperial City are more powerful than the Jones Group."

William smiled and said, "Harper, why are you telling me this? I'm just an ordinary person, not the Mr. Jones you're talking about."

Harper was quite perceptive to have guessed that.

Harper didn't say anything more.

At that moment, a voice said excitedly, "Harper, you're here?"

Suddenly, a man appeared in front of Harper and William in the restaurant, smiling at Harper.

The man was dressed in a clean and sharp suit, looking quite handsome and presentable.

William, who had been drinking coffee, was a bit annoyed by the interruption. He glanced at the man casually and noticed that his eyes were filled with desire as he looked at Harper.

William furrowed his brows and looked at Harper, noticing she had already stood up and was politely smiling. "Isidore, you're here too?" she asked.

Isidore chuckled and said, "I came here with some friends for dinner. I didn't expect to run into you here. What a coincidence."

After speaking, Isidore turned to look at William and asked, "And who might this be?"

Harper quickly introduced him. "Oh, this is my friend, William."

Isidore greeted him politely. "Hello, I'm Isidore."

William, not one to be impolite, smiled and waved.

Isidore's expression darkened immediately. He had already noticed Harper and William chatting and laughing together, and their relationship seemed like they were more than just friends.

He had never heard of Harper having any other male friends. Who was this guy?

Isidore was very displeased but couldn't show it. His goal for the night was clear: to pursue Harper and win a bet!

He had just made a bet with some friends, saying he would get Harper, the famously cold and beautiful manager in the hotel industry, into bed tonight.

And he planned to record it to share with everyone.

Thinking of that, Isidore smiled faintly, pulled up a chair, and sat down close to Harper, saying, "Harper, I have some friends over there who are also in the hotel industry. They heard you're the lobby manager at Radiant Glow Hotel and would love to meet you. What do you think? Are you interested in joining us?"

Harper had worked in the industryfor a long time and naturally understood Isidore's intentions. She politely declined. "Isidore, I don't think that's necessary. I don't know your friends, and it would be awkward."

"Oh, Harper, it's fine. I'm here with you, so what are you worried about? I'm just trying to help you gain more clients, right? Just come over and chat. It's no big deal. I've already promised them you would come. If you refuse, it would seem like you're disrespecting me," Isidore said, leaving Harper with no room to refuse.

Harper frowned slightly, looked at Isidore, then at William, seemingly seeking help from William.

Isidore had been pursuing her for a long time, relying on his wealth to do so and being quite arrogant.

"Hey Isidore, Harper doesn't want to go. Why are you trying to force her?" William interjected. Then he suggested, "How about I go with you instead? What do you think?"

Isidore's eyes darkened when he heard William's unfriendly tone, and the entire restaurant fell silent!

The diners, all notable figures, had already noticed the commotion at this table and, out of curiosity, paid more attention.

It was clearly a love triangle!

Moreover, it was impossible for them not to attract attention with a beauty like Harper standing there!

Her presence was so outstanding that many men secretly compared her to their female companions for the night, finding their companions lacking in comparison.

Everyone was in a mood to watch the drama unfold!

Isidore seemed to deliberately ignore William's words, giving him a cold glance before continuing to smile at Harper. "Harper, it's okay. Just come over for a couple of drinks. Everyone just wants to make a new friend."

Harper, feeling helpless, declined again, "Isidore, I'm really sorry. I'm not good at conversation, and it would just be awkward. Maybe next time."

"Come on, Harper. They're just in the next room. We'll have a couple of drinks, and I'll bring you back. It's no big deal," Isidore insisted.

"Didn't you hear Harper say she doesn't want to go? Why are you still pestering her?" William said irritably. He stood up, pulling Harper to his side.

After all, Harper was from the Price family of Radiant Harbor City, and she was connected to him. William couldn't just sit by and do nothing.

Isidore initially didn't want to deal with William. In his eyes, William was just someone who liked to put on airs.

However, William kept interrupting him, which really pissed him off!

Isidore frowned, looking impatient, and sneered, "Who do you think are you? Do you think you have the right to butt in when I'm talking to Harper?"

William replied, "Sorry, but Harper is my girlfriend. Are you blind? Didn't you see my girlfriend already rejected you? Why are you still yapping? Do you want a beating?"

As he spoke, he slightly raised his head, amused by Isidore's stiff smile.

This excuse seemed familiar; he had used it before.

It just slipped out.

Isidore's expression darkened as he saw Harper leaning against William. Clenching his fists, he felt a surge of anger in his chest!

He almost exploded with rage. However, as the general manager of The Garden Throne Hotel, he had to maintain his composure and appear graceful.

So he smiled and touched his nose, his expression changing unpredictably. Then he stood up, stared at William, and said, "You're her boyfriend? How come I've never heard of you?"

"Why does it concern you if I'm her boyfriend or not? Do you have to know?" William replied with a slight smile, putting his arm around Harper's shoulder.

That was a clear demonstration!

Harper initially wanted to struggle when William held her, but couldn't, so she silently lowered her head, her cheeks flushed.

William was also helpless; it was an unintentional move.

Isidore chuckled and glanced at the onlookers in the restaurant, knowing he had been embarrassed, especially since William had deliberately spoken loudly.

He glared at William and said, "Fine, you're tough! But this is between Harper and me, unless she rejects me herself."

"Alright then. Since you're so insistent, I won't stop you," William said confidently as he held Harper's shoulder, smiling calmly.

Isidore, on the other hand, seemed a bit anxious.

Isidore glanced at William. He had already sized him up, dismissing him as just an ordinary worker. A look of contempt flashed in his eyes.

He didn't believe Harper would date a man like this, someone without power or wealth. What could he offer her?

"Harper, I'm inviting you over as the general manager of The Garden Throne Hotel. Surely you won't refuse, right?" Isidore said calmly, his tone already carrying a hint of threat.

Isidore secretly sneered, thinking, 'Harper wouldn't dare refuse The Garden Throne Hotel.'

Harper was at a loss, knowing that offending Isidore, a partner of her group, could cost the group millions of dollars!

So, Harper was in a difficult position. She silently broke free from William's embrace.

Isidore was delighted when he saw that, knowing his tactic had worked!

William frowned, realizing The Garden Throne Hotel wasn't a good entity either.

"William, I'm sorry. How about you wait for me? I'll be right back," Harper apologized sincerely.

William glanced at the smug Isidore and asked Harper, "Do you really want to go?"

Harper didn't respond, but her silence indicated her decision.

William had nothing more to say and watched Harper turn and leave.

Following closely behind Harper, Isidore suddenly turned and smugly patted William's shoulder, saying, "Don't try to be a hero. Some people are out of your league. Do you think you can compare to me with your cheap outfit? I can crush you with just a few words! Know your place. You'd better leave Harper. You're not worthy of her!"

"Don't worry, I'll take good care of her tonight," he added, smiling lecherously.

As he spoke, he glanced disdainfully at William.

How could she be interested in such a cowardly man?

Even after all he said, William still seemed indifferent.

It looked like he was going to win the bet tonight!

Just as Isidore was about to leave, William's sudden words stopped him.

"Know your place, you said?"

Isidore, in rare good spirits now, turned back, looking down on William as he sneered, "Well, are you not convinced?"

"You really deserve a beating. I'll make sure you eat those words," William said calmly, his tone carrying a hint of coldness.

He couldn't believe a general manager of a hotel group would dare to be so arrogant.

Moreover, The Garden Throne Hotel seemed to be a Jones family business.
