Chapter 37 It Really Came

The focus shifted to William.
He hung up the phone and silently stepped back. As a result, several elderly people around him whispered disapprovingly and walked away as if to avoid him.
"What a disgrace, at his age, still embarrassing himself here."
"Margaret Turner having a son-in-law like him is truly unlucky."
"Hurry up and leave, smelling of oil, all stinky."
Faced with the merciless accusations and mockery from these people, William helplessly retreated to the side, leaning against the wall, arms crossed, watching everything calmly.
Matthew naturally noticed William's predicament, feeling greatly pleased. He defiantly gestured a middle finger at him, then, under the fiery gazes of the elderly, adjusted his suit and walked towards the manager and staff left behind by the company.
"Hello, sir, may I help you with something?"
The manager was a woman with a melon seed face, slim waist, and hips, seven or eight points in looks, dressed in a black professional suit skirt, with a white patterned shirt underneath, looking very competent.
"Are you the manager of this company?" Matthew smiled handsomely.
He glanced at the woman nicely. If possible, he wanted to bring her to his company as a secretary or assistant.
"Yes, sir, but our company is currently undergoing reorganization these days. If it's business-related, please come back in a few days." Laura replied politely .
She had seen earlier that this handsome man was here to help the elderly who had come to block the door.
Moreover, it seemed like he had a high social status, maybe even knew her boss.
"I know what your company does. It's useless to tell me all this. I have one thing to say, return the money to the uncles and aunties. I've already contacted my dad to reach out to your CEO, and there should be a response soon."
"And also my house." Margaret Turner stood beside, inserting her words.
"Don't worry, Margaret. We will definitely help you get it back." Matthew nodded indifferently, but the slight smile on his lips betrayed his inner satisfaction.
Indeed, showing off in front of outsiders was quite enjoyable.
However, Laura smiled slightly and apologized. "I'm sorry, sir, it involves company business, and I don't have the authority to decide. Since you know our CEO, please be patient, or would you like our CEO to come over?"
It was not surprising that Laura didn't trust Matthew.
Return the money?
Sorry, not possible!
Unless the CEO personally comes to return the money.
As soon as these words were spoken, Matthew's face instantly darkened, and he coldly glanced at the other's name tag, saying. "Manager Laura Morgan, right? I'm Matthew, the general manager of Star Dream Media. My dad is Herman Anderson, the Chairman of Fly Education Group. You should have heard of him, can I possibly be lying?"
As he spoke, Matthew couldn't help but show a smug look in his eyes.
His father was the Chairman of the Fly Education Group, with assets worth billions!
In Lindwood City, it was a leading educational enterprise!
Moreover, he had close ties with the leaders of the education bureau.
It could be said that if you lived in Lindwood City and received education, you were connected to the Simmons family.
Under the Simmons umbrella were more than a dozen educational institutions, including schools, kindergartens, elementary schools, and universities, all with Simmons' influence.
This was Matthew's superior capital.
Upon hearing this, Laura frowned slightly, still smiling faintly. "Mr. Anderson, it's not that we won't refund, but this matter indeed requires a decision from our CEO. Since you know our CEO, please wait patiently, or would you like to call our CEO?"
Laura knew she couldn't afford to offend Matthew, so she could only decline in this way.
"Alright, I'll call and ask right now."
Matthew didn't want to make things difficult for the girl, so he turned aside and called his father. "Hey, Dad, how's the matter you asked about going?"
"I'm very busy right now, no time, don't bother me with trivial matters. I know Virgil from Rolling in Wealth Finance Company, but what you said is too unreliable, are you trying to ruin someone's financial path?"
On the phone, Herman Anderson scolded angrily, "You hurry back, and don't meddle in this matter. Do you know who's behind Virgil?"
Matthew's face frozed, not expecting his father not to help. Could this small financial company be so difficult to deal with?
"Who is it? Who can be more powerful than our family?" Matthew asked.
"Alan!" Herman said firmly, "Alright, hurry back, if something goes wrong, I can't cover for you."
Just the name Alan was enough to make Herman Anderson take it seriously.
This kind of character, born into a mixed background, now involved in legitimate businesses, was not someone to be trifled with.
Matthew was stunned, especially upon hearing the name Alan, a hint of panic arose in his heart.
His face became even darker and more unpleasant.
Seeing him hang up the phone, a group of elderly people gathered around, chattering and inquiring.
"How's it going, Matthew? Is it resolved? Can the money be refunded? What about my house?" Margaret Turner couldn't wait to know the outcome.
"Hey, ,Margaret. Mr. Anderson is here to help, it must be resolved, right?" someone flattered.
"Yes, Mr. Anderson is truly talented and outstanding, the Young Master of the Simmons family, this kind of small matter must be a piece of cake for him."
Seeing the eager gazes of a dozen elderly people, Matthew was in a dilemma. He had just boasted, now if he said he couldn't solve it, wouldn't it be embarrassing?
Moreover, this matter was related to Margaret. If he failed in front of his future mother-in-law today, wouldn't it ruin his chances with Mary?
With these thoughts in mind, Matthew forced out a smile, lacking some confidence. "Uncles and Aunties, the matter is resolved, but it will take some time. Don't worry, I've called Virgil, and he will come back to handle it personally shortly, so please don't worry, you can go back and wait."
Upon hearing this, the crowd immediately cheered and applauded, celebrating Matthew.
"Mr. Anderson is truly extraordinary, solving the problem as soon as he steps in. If my daughter weren't married, I would definitely have her marry Mr. Anderson."
"Yes, Mr. Anderson, such an excellent young man, can't be found even with much lucky now. Margaret, you've really hit the jackpot."
"I remember someone boasting that he could solve it earlier, now that Matthew has resolved it, where is that boaster now?"
"Forget about that useless person, just a crowd-pleaser."
While the crowd cheered for Matthew, they mocked William, who stood awkwardly in the corner, out of place among the others.
Matthew didn't care, thoroughly enjoying the attention, especially as Margaret was now staring at him as if he were a treasure.
"Matthew, rest assured, about you and my daughter Mary, I've already agreed." Margaret took Matthew's hand, her face beaming with smiles.
With a glance, she felt angry looking at the foolish William.
She wished her daughter could divorce William right now and marry Matthew instead.
William, standing in the corner, watched the adored Matthew with a playful look.
He knew exactly what was happening; this guy was shamelessly putting on a show.
Should he expose him?
Forget it, his future mother-in-law would probably hate him for it.
Laura, standing at the company's entrance, looked puzzled at the scene before her.
Did Matthew really contact the boss? Then why hadn't she received any notification?
"Mr. Anderson, are you sure Mr. Virgil Newman will be here soon?" Laura asked.
This question was like a slap in the face, instantly sobering Matthew from his enjoyment.
"Well,Mr. Virgil Newman will be here shortly." Matthew prepared to bluff his way through.
What to do?
He was just bragging.
If Virgil didn't show up, wouldn't that be a slap in the face?
‘No, I had to call my father again, make sure Mr. Virgil Newman came over, even if it was just for show.’ He brooded.
At worst, he would cover the cost of a property.
Just then, a large Mercedes stopped in the distance, and a burly man hurriedly got out of the car, almost stumbling.
It was Virgil Newman !
He was in a panic, brought here by Alan.
Alan stayed in the car, watching William from a distance among the crowd.
Hope it was not too late.
"Look, it's Virgil! Virgil is here!" someone in the crowd shouted.
All eyes turned to Virgil, who was hurrying over.
Instantly, everyone felt even more grateful to Matthew.
"Look, Mr. Anderson is truly amazing, Virgil is really here!"
"Now our money will definitely be refunded. Mr. Anderson, thank you so much."
"Margaret, you must seize the opportunity with Matthew. Such a good son-in-law candidate can't miss out."
Margaret was also extremely excited, listening to the compliments from the ladies, her heart blooming with joy.
However, Matthew was very nervous because he knew he hadn't actually contacted Virgil.
So why had he come?
Was it because of William?
Matthew's gaze fell on William, who was idle on the side, instantly ruling him out.
Impossible!
He was just a loser!
Virgil was the CEO of a company, how could William, a worthless person, possibly know him?
As the crowd gathered around Virgil, he wiped the cold sweat from his forehead with a handkerchief, and hurried over to Matthew and William.
