Chapter 472 Token of Destiny

Mary also noticed the commotion behind her. She sat up and was slightly surprised to see the additional people in the ward.

However, she still politely asked with a smile, "Hello, who are you?"

Mary was very curious. Why had an elderly man in a wheelchair suddenly appeared? And judging by the people around him, who seemed like personal bodyguards, each exuding an extraordinary aura, it was quite unusual.

Even though they hid it well, Mary still keenly sensed it.

The elderly man in the wheelchair, though aged, had wise eyes that seemed to reveal the vicissitudes of life.

Despite his age, the aura of authority he exuded was unlike anything Mary had ever seen in her life!

Moreover, his aura was identical to William's.

The old man took out a handkerchief and gently wiped the corner of his mouth. His eyes were soft like a senior's, and his smile was kind, making Mary feel very warm.

"William indeed made the right choice." The old man muttered to himself with a smile, then looked at Mary with a charitable smile and said, "I am William's father."

In an instant, Mary was stunned, looking at the old man in front of her with incredulous eyes.

After hesitating for a moment, Mary hurriedly tried to get up. "Hello."

She had never heard William mention anything about his father before.

It seemed that William deliberately avoided talking about his father.

Seeing Mary trying to get up, Mario gently raised his hand and said, "No need, you are pregnant. I just came to see you. Where is Sarah?"

"Sarah is at home. I'll have someone bring her over."

Mary quickly dialed Lucy's number, said a few words, and then respectfully sat to the side.

Meeting William's father for the first time, Mary seemed very uneasy.

She didn't know why, but the aura of William's father was very pressuring.

Even though Mario tried to suppress it, the inherent authority still made Mary somewhat fearful.

Mario sat with dignity, and the few Shadow Guards behind him had already tightly guarded all the exits.

"Mary, have you thought about going home to visit?" Mario held the handkerchief in his hand and asked in a slightly low voice.

He tried to maintain a kind smile, liking Mary more and more as he looked at her.

Mary hesitated, clenching her hands, and nodded, "I have, but William said it's not the right time yet."

Mario nodded and said quietly, "Don't blame William. He has his own thoughts. The situation at home is a bit complicated right now. I came out this time just to see you and the child. If you need any help, just let me know. I wasn't there for your wedding with William, nor for Sarah's birth. I'm not a competent father, nor a competent grandfather. I hope you don't blame me."

After saying this, Mario coughed a few times, as if every word took a lot of effort.

A tall, middle-aged man with a rugged face and a sense of history in his eyes, standing behind him, frowned and whispered in Mario's ear, "Mr. Jones, speak less, your health..."

Mario waved his hand and smiled, "It's okay. It's rare to see William's wife, so it's okay to say a few more words."

Mary was also very nervous. Seeing Mario like this, it seemed his health was not good.

She quickly poured a cup of warm water for Mario and smiled, "Please have some water."

Mario looked at Mary kindly, nodded, and felt even more pleased.

Ten minutes later, Lucy arrived at the ward with Sarah in her arms.

Sarah bounced in, with two ponytails, adorably running towards Mary, sweetly calling out, "Mommy, I came to see you."

Mary pulled Sarah into her arms and patted her little head.

Lively Sarah immediately attracted everyone's attention as soon as she entered the ward.

Mario and the Shadow Guards in the room all looked at Sarah with kind and excited eyes.

Mario was very excited, laughing heartily, "Is this my precious granddaughter?"

The few Shadow Guards also looked at Sarah with doting eyes.

It was hard to imagine that these people, who dealt with death, could show such a doting look. It was like a light in endless darkness.

They all understood that this was William's daughter, someone they needed to protect with their lives.

Even the middle-aged man behind Mario showed a kind smile.

He was the spiritual pillar of the entire Shadow Guards and the only commander, directly under Mario.

Sarah turned her head, her ponytail swinging, and curiously looked at Mario in the wheelchair, asking in a crisp voice, "Mommy, who is this old man?"

Mary bent down and gently said to Sarah, "Sarah, this is your grandpa."

Upon hearing this, Sarah's gem-like eyes suddenly brightened, staring intently at Mario.

"Go, give your grandpa a hug," Mary said with a smile.

Sarah was a bit scared, as it was her first time seeing Mario.

She tried to take small steps towards Mario, reached out her chubby little hand, and then grabbed Mario's weathered big hand, raising her little head, showing two shallow dimples, and sweetly called out, "Grandpa."

"Oh, my dear." Mario responded with a long sigh, his eyes full of doting kindness. This call of grandpa melted his heart.

Holding Sarah in his arms and placing her on his lap, Mario's eyes became a bit misty.

"You are the little princess of the Jones family, you know?" Mario held Sarah, full of doting affection.

Sarah shook her head and said, "No, I am Daddy and Mommy's little princess, and also Grandpa's little princess."

Hearing that, everyone burst out laughing.

The previously serious ward was now filled with laughter and joy.

Afterwards, a few Shadow Guards played games with Sarah.

These guys, all decisive and ruthless, had no idea how to entertain a child.

They let Sarah command them, dressing up as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

Especially making the Shadow Guards' commander dress up as Snow White and act cute, the ward was filled with joy.

The other Shadow Guards, watching their commander dance ballet and act cute, couldn't help but stifle their laughter.

That was the legend of the entire Shadow Guards, a war god!

If the outside world knew that the Shadow Guards were playing games with a little girl, it would definitely cause a huge upheaval!

These people, placed anywhere, would be absolute giants!

Mario and Mary watched the playful scene, and Mario turned to Mary and said, "I haven't given you anything yet. Take this."

Saying this, Mario took out a palm-sized pure gold token from his pocket, which engraved with intricate and obscure patterns.

Just by looking at it, one could tell it was no ordinary item, grand and magnificent.

If Jessica were here, she would recognize it immediately and go crazy!

Mario's token, the Token of Destiny, which was of extraordinary significance.
