Chapter 450 Scarlett's Fury
Meanwhile, a sleek black business car was tearing down the overpass in Lindwood City, heading straight for downtown.
"You morons! Can't even keep tabs on one guy. If Scarlett finds out, you're all toast!" Yosef, a burly dude riding shotgun, barked angrily.
"Yosef, it's not our fault. The Gonzales family wanted him, and we couldn't just stop them," a suited guy in the back seat said, looking pretty embarrassed.
He was supposed to be keeping an eye on William, but today he found out the Gonzales family had snatched him. He quickly reported it to his boss, too scared to tell Scarlett directly.
"What the hell is Thelonious up to in the middle of the night?" Yosef grumbled, looking sharp and ticked off.
He grabbed his phone, dialed a number, and his face turned respectful. "Ms. Ashford, Mr. Jones has been captured."
Scarlett was enjoying a nice bath. Hearing this, she jumped out of the rose-filled tub, wrapped herself in a towel, and asked coldly, "Who took him?"
"The Gonzales family from Imperial City, Thelonious Gonzales," Yosef replied.
"Why?" Scarlett walked to the suite's living room and grabbed another phone.
"You know, Mr. Jones had some beef with Lazlo from the Gonzales family before. I also heard Mr. Jones blackmailed and beat up Dashiell from the Gonzales family last time. Tonight, Thelonious came to Lindwood City, set up a trap, and, with Jeffery from Horizon Group's help, nabbed him. We're heading there now," Yosef explained, sounding apologetic, worried Scarlett might fire them if she got mad.
Scarlett thought for a moment and said, "Got it. When you get there, stall them. I'll be there soon."
After hanging up, Scarlett frowned, looked at the other phone in her hand, and smirked. "Does the Gonzales family have a death wish?"
She walked to the floor-to-ceiling window, crossed her arms, dialed a number, and commanded, "Dig into Horizon Group and Thelonious. Send me all the dirt within half an hour. Also, check all the Gonzales family's financial moves in Lindwood City."
Thelonious had just finished a cup of hot tea and, after some thought, called Zander.
Zander was freaking out. He looked at the caller ID, frowned, then glanced at William with a conflicted look.
"Answer it. It's better if he comes over too. We can talk face to face," William said with a smile.
Despite his big and tough look, Zander seemed pretty timid. Even though this was his turf, he acted like he was in trouble.
Zander glanced at the glass wall, and a voice in his earpiece said, "Answer it." Only then did he press the answer button. Thelonious's impatient voice came through immediately.
"Zander, how much longer is this gonna take? It's been ages!" Thelonious demanded.
Zander felt helpless. He glanced at William and stammered, "I'm really having some difficulties here."
Thelonious was furious hearing it wasn't done yet and couldn't help but scold Zander, "Difficulties? What difficulties? You're the senior butler of the Gonzales family. Isn't it just about capturing him and making him talk? What kind of difficulties could there be? If you can't handle such a small task, maybe you shouldn't be working for the Gonzales family anymore." Zander was more of a hindrance than a help!
"Yeah, there are some real issues here. Why don't you come over yourself?" Zander's voice was shaking even more.
"You serious? What good are you then?" Thelonious was livid. He had to go there himself? What was the point of having these senior butlers? Useless!
"You really need to come over," Zander tried to continue, but Thelonious cut him off, "Zander, I'll give you one more hour. If you still haven't done it, get ready to be kicked out of the family!"
With that, he angrily hung up.
Zander looked helplessly at William, as if asking what to do now. William had clearly become his leader.
With a slight smile, William said, "No rush. Let's wait."
Up to now, Zander still couldn't figure out what William was waiting for, feeling a bit confused. But he had no choice but to wait with him.
Moreover, Santino hadn't said a word, which made him even more anxious.
Santino stood behind the glass wall, arms crossed, looking at the lazy William with a smirk. He thought, 'William got away last time. This time, we need to extort some money from him and then dump him in the river. I have no choice; it's Jeffery's order.'
Under the night sky, a black business car sped into a private estate of the Gonzales family in Lindwood City like a streak of light.
The security guards at the gate were startled by the cold wind, breaking out in a cold sweat. The car was so fast that they couldn't even see the license plate.
The business car charging straight into the estate indicated that the driver either had a death wish or was in a hurry.
It took the security guards a few minutes to react. If it wasn't a Gonzales family car, then it was someone forcefully entering the estate.
Before the car even stopped, the door was pulled open, and several people jumped out!
"This is the Gonzales family's private estate. Who are you, daring barge in at night? This is outrageous! Arrest them all!" the security guard shouted.
"I'm here to see the person in charge!" Yosef stood at the front, burly and imposing, clearly skilled in fighting.
The security guards exchanged glances. One of the security guards hesitated for a while and said, "Wait here." With that, he ran inside.
Santino was talking to his subordinates when a security guard rushed in, saying, "Santino, a group of people outside is demanding to see the person in charge."
Santino frowned and said, "They're finally here."
With that, he led a few subordinates out of the building and saw the commotion at the gate. He angrily shouted at the group, "Who are you, barging in like this? Do you look down on the Gonzales family? Arrest them all!"
Ronan in a suit behind Yosef glanced at Santino and sneered, "The people the Gonzales family hires are really stupid. They don't even know they're about to die."
Santino raised an eyebrow and coldly smiled. "I'm not part of the Gonzales family, but who are you saying is about to die?"
"Ronan, stop. We're not here to cause trouble." Yosef stepped forward, walked up to Santino, and said, "Santino, right? Hello."
Santino coldly replied, "You know me?"
Yosef nodded and smiled. "One of the top three gambling experts in Lindwood City, your reputation is renowned. My name is Yosef. I'm here for one reason only. I heard you captured someone, and I hope you release him immediately."
Santino frowned deeply and shouted, "Who the hell are you? Why should I listen to you? This is the Gonzales family's private estate, not your backyard! Yeah, I captured him. But what right do you have to make me release him?"
