Chapter 166 Mary Lies
Mary's heart skipped a beat, and she asked suspiciously, "You know?"
William chuckled and said, "Yeah, it was me. I bought your company. You're now the executive director. Are you happy?"
Mary was stunned for a moment but then furrowed her brows and said coquettishly, "Alright, alright, thank you."
Mary knew William loved to joke around. The company's financial troubles alone amounted to a six-billion-dollar deficit. It wasn't something William could handle by saying he would help.
"Never mind. I have to do my work. Did you visit Sarah today?" Mary asked.
"I'm on my way," William replied, already entering the hospital.
He knew Mary didn't believe him.
Well, never mind. He would explain it later when he had time.
Mary acknowledged and hung up after a few more words.
Sitting in her office, Mary pondered deeply, unable to figure it out.
Could it really be William?
Just then, Isaac's call came in, his voice filled with happiness, "Mary, how's the company? Is the problem solved?"
Mary was taken aback, then smiled and asked, "Was it you who helped?"
Isaac laughed. "Yes, I asked my dad to help. The issues are quite complex. How about we meet and talk in person?"
Mary thought for a moment and then agreed, "Alright, where should we meet?"
Isaac sounded very happy. "I'm right downstairs. Look out the window."
Mary's heart skipped a beat. She walked to the floor-to-ceiling window and looked down.
In front of the building, the handsome and wealthy Isaac stood next to a white convertible Maserati, the back seat filled with red roses. He looked up and waved at Mary with a smile.
After thinking for a moment, Mary decided to go down.
"Mary, you're here."
In the plaza, Isaac looked stylish in a white low-neck Armani shirt and black casual linen pants. Especially noticeable was the Rolex gold watch on his wrist, a a symbol of status and wealth.
His aristocratic aura had already attracted a crowd of admiring onlookers, many of whom were taking pictures.
"Wow, this guy is really handsome. And all those roses, and a convertible!"
"I'm about to faint, he's so handsome! Is this a proposal? Record it quickly!"
"He's my Prince Charming, I can't take it!"
A group of women screamed excitedly, almost like they were seeing a celebrity.
Mary walked towards Isaac, feeling uncomfortable with his grand gesture. It was too high-profile for her liking.
"Isaac, what's this?" Mary frowned slightly.
Isaac handed Mary a bouquet of flowers and said, "These are for you. I hope you stay as beautiful and charming as these flowers every day."
As he spoke, Isaac leaned in to kiss Mary's delicate cheek.
However, Mary quickly turned away, frowning. "This isn't appropriate. I'm married."
Isaac paused but didn't say anything, smiling slightly. "Let's go. I've already reserved a place."
Mary instinctively wanted to refuse, but she knew it would be impolite.
Isaac chivalrously opened the car door, and Mary stepped in.
With a beautiful woman and a luxury car, it became a hot topic online.
And all of this was witnessed by Lori passing by.
Lori was stunned. Wasn't that Mary?
Mary got into another man's car.
And it was a wealthy young man.
Lori's mind raced, her eyes filled with disdain. She smirked and thought, 'Mary, I didn't expect you to be so loose, doing this behind William's back.'
Meanwhile, William was at the hospital with Sarah when he received a video from Lori.
As soon as William watched it, his face immediately darkening.
Isaac!
At the same time, his phone rang. It was Lori.
"William, your wife is on a date with another man."
Lori's voice was full of mockery, and she was laughing hysterically.
William was such a pushover. Mary was dating another man behind his back.
It seemed they were really going to get a divorce.
"Lori, there's nothing to do with you. I'm warning you, don't spread this around. If I find out, I won't let you off," William replied fiercely and hung up the phone.
He knew Lori's personality. She would definitely spread this news far and wide.
Sure enough, after William hung up, Lori angrily cursed, "Damn it! You tell me not to talk, and I will talk even more!"
With that Lori posted the video in their classmates' group chat, adding the caption: "Look at this! William got betrayed by Mary."
Instantly, the group chat became lively, with everyone watching the drama unfold.
"Is that Mary? The school beauty has become so materialistic."
"An angelic face with a dirty heart. And she was the school beauty? Disgusting!"
"Yeah, Mary is just fooling you all. She did a lot of disgusting things in school, like stealing her friends' boyfriends."
"Poor William."
The entire group chat turned into a Mary bashing session, with all sorts of rumors flying around.
Meanwhile, William had already called Mary, "Where are you?"
Mary, who had just arrived at a romantic-themed restaurant with Isaac, lowered her voice and said, "I'm at the office, a bit busy right now. I'll talk to you later."
With that, Mary hung up the phone.
Isaac looked at Mary's flushed face and asked, "What's wrong?"
"Nothing, just a call from the office." Mary smiled slightly and followed Isaac upstairs.
William, after being hung up on by Mary, felt terrible.
Mary had lied.
Mary was out on a date with Isaac, and William couldn't stand it.
After all, Mary and Isaac were high school sweethearts , and it's said that married people often long for their high school romances.
Without thinking further, William called Craig and coldly asked, "Where is Mary?"
Craig, who was lurking near the flowerbed in front of the romantic-themed restaurant, wearing sunglasses and a hat, quickly answered, "Mr. Jones, Mary is at the romantic-themed restaurant with a strange man. Do you want me to beat him up?"
"No need, I'm coming over," William replied coldly and hung up, leaving the hospital.
Soon, William arrived at the restaurant and saw Craig crouching with his butt sticking out. He kicked him and asked coldly, "Where are they?"
Craig turned around angrily but immediately became docile upon seeing Mr. Jones, "They went upstairs."
The restaurant wasn't crowded. The first floor was filled with regular tables, and William didn't see Mary after a quick glance.
Looking at the second floor, William was about to go up when the restaurant manager stopped him rudely, "Wait, who said you could go up? Don't you know the rules?"
William raised an eyebrow and asked, "Why can't I go up? I'm looking for someone."
Not wanting to waste time, William pushed the overweight manager aside and tried to go up.
The manager became angry. He shoved William hard and shouted, "Stop! Are you crazy? Can't you see the second floor is reserved for VIPs? Get out! You stink like a beggar!"
The manager called for help to throw William out.
William was worried that Isaac might do something inappropriate to Mary, so he rushed upstairs directly.
"Damn it! You looking for trouble? Get out!"
The manager grabbed William and tried to push him out.
"Get away! I'm looking for Isaac!" William shouted.
"You're looking for Mr. Hayes? That's funny. Look at yourself!" The manager sneered at William, who looked too ordinary and shabby.
"I'll say it one more time, get away!" William was getting angry.
"Trying to act tough, huh? Do you even know where you are? Guys, throw him out!" The manager called for the restaurant staff.
Four waiters rushed over. They grabbed William's arms and tried to throw him out.
"Is this a place for you? Mr. Hayes has reserved the place today. Keep your eyes open, and if you see someone like him again, break their legs and throw them out!" The manager barked orders at the staff, feeling triumphant.
William was furious because he had already seen Mary and Isaac sitting together on the second floor, chatting and laughing.
At the same time, Isaac also noticed the commotion and got up to come downstairs.
"William, I didn't expect you to find this place."
Isaac, with hands in his pockets, walked down from the second floor, sneering and looking down on William.
