Chapter 36 Messing with William, Seeking Death!
William felt a little uncomfortable under the scrutiny of these people, and then he saw Matthew walking towards him with a cold smile on his face.
"William, could you please repeat what you just said? I don't catch it." Matthew said contemptuously.
’William seems to have something to say everywhere.
He doesn't even consider his own status and dares to speak so arrogantly.
This matter is beyond my ability, so how could a useless person like him handle it?’ Matthew pondered.
William pursed his lips, thought for a moment, and replied truthfully,"I said that this matter is not easy to handle. It may involve illegal fundraising, and it can't be solved by personal connections. So, I want to ask my friend for help. Is there a problem with that?"
Matthew sneered instantly. "William, you've certainly risen in status with your influential friends. Do you aspire to be a hero today? Well, why don't you take charge of it then?"
As soon as these words were spoken, the surrounding people joined in the mockery and said, "Margaret, what does your son-in-law mean? Does he want to stand up for us? Looking at his shabby appearance, what can he do? Isn't he just embarrassing himself?"
"This is Margaret's son-in-law, a good-for-nothing, a delivery guy. What can he do? He's just putting on airs here."
"The young are so unrealistic. Maybe they feel unbalanced because they see that Matthew is successful."
Especially Margaret, when she heard the mockery of William from the people around her, her anger flared up.
She raised her hand and slapped William hard on the face, angrily scolding," Get out of here, what business do you have here? Say one more word, and I'll make Mary divorce you!"
William's face was stunned, his cheeks burning.
His eyes turned cold, and he felt a trace of anger in his chest and abdomen.
But he couldn't really get angry with his mother-in-law.
After scolding, Margaret, full of apologies, took Matthew's hand and said with a smile, "Matthew, don't listen to William's nonsense. He's just a useless person. We still have to rely on you for this matter."
Everyone saw such a dramatic scene, and they sneered in their hearts.
The mockery in the crowd became more disdainful, and Matthew looked at the scene with even more satisfaction.
Today was supposed to be his opportunity to show his connections and strength in front of his future mother-in-law. How could he let William, a useless person, steal the limelight?
Besides, what qualifications did this good-for-nothing have to show off in front of him?
With that in mind, Matthew raised his chin, full of arrogance, and looked at William with narrowed eyes. "You said you could handle it, so let's see what you're capable of. William, let's see what you're capable of."
William frowned.
Especially when he noticed his mother-in-law's seemingly devouring gaze and the surrounding group of people's grimaces, he knew that he couldn't step forward.
"I'm sorry, my friend has something urgent and can't handle it. Why don't you go?" William sighed.
Matthew pushed William, and triumphantly scolded," Since you can't handle it, why were you pretending just now? Are you jealous of me?"
‘It was obvious that he was jealous of me.
I was so handsome and so wealthy.
What qualifications does William, a loser, have to show off in front of me?’ He brooded.
However, William just smiled faintly and stood silently aside.
Why bother with a narcissistic fool?
As a result, there was a burst of laughter in the crowd.
"Nowadays, there are all kinds of people. He doesn't even feel ashamed of himself, dressed so shabbily, and talking so arrogantly. Now that he's been slapped in the face, he's so humble."
"Guys, say a few words less. After all, he is Margaret's son-in-law. He may be useless, but at least he has a good father-in-law."
William listened to these idle talk and felt helpless, especially Margaret, who was directly pasted next to Matthew, her overflowing joy, more intimate than with her own son-in-law.
William walked to the side, took the opportunity, and called Alan.
At the same time, in a luxurious private room of a certain hotel, with a luxurious decoration style, there were only tall and beautiful female waiters.
Alan was having a drink and a chat with a middle-aged, obese man.
To be more precise, it was the middle-aged, obese man who was trying to please Alan.
The fat-headed man was full of smiles, took out a bank card and more than a dozen contract documents from his black briefcase, and respectfully handed them to Alan, who was smoking.
If there were other people present, they would definitely recognize the fat middle-aged man.
He was the CEO of the Rolling in Wealth Finance Company, Virgil.
"Mr. Jordan, this is the company's dividend for last month, six million, and thirteen real estate contracts." Virgil said.
Alan squinted, nodded, and let his subordinates take them without any hesitation.
Then, he patted Virgil on the shoulder with a smile and said," Mr. Newman, this is the last time. Don't come to me again. Your company is in a dangerous business. I've already retired from illegal industires, and I advise you to do the same. If something big happens one day, you'll be in trouble."
Virgil smiled and said. "Mr. Jordan, rest assured, these things have nothing to do with you. If something goes wrong, I will take full responsibility. These are all gifts from me. If it weren't for your support behind me back then, I wouldn't have been able to rise so quickly."
Alan nodded, not saying anything more.
He knew what Virgil's company was doing, and he had mentioned it several times.
But this industry was like a bottomless pit, the deeper you got, the harder you got out.
Just a few days ago, Alan helped contact some people to save him.
"How are those clients being handled?" Alan asked.
Virgil sneered. "A group of uneducated old ladies and gentlemen. If they don't invest the money in their hands, they won't be able to take it with them to the grave, will they?"
Seeing Alan's face darken, Virgil quickly said. "It's nothing, Mr. Jordan. I know what I'm doing. They are all old people without any background."
With that, Alan also felt relieved.
Just as the two were about to drink, Alan's phone rang.
Looking at the caller ID, it was William!
Immediately, Alan respectfully picked up the phone, and made a gesture to Virgil, saying. "It's William's call."
As soon as Virgil heard this, his eyes lit up.
Alan had mentioned William to him, a very powerful person.
He really wanted to curry favor.
"William, is there anything you need?" Alan asked respectfully and excitedly.
On the other end of the phone, William's voice was calm. "Do you know the CEO of Rolling in Wealth Finance Company?"
Alan's heart suddenly had a bad feeling, he glanced at Virgil beside him, and nodded. "I do, did he offend you?"
It couldn't be such a coincidence.
"Not really." William replied, and Alan breathed a sigh of relief.
But the next sentence made Alan's hair stand on end.
"His company cheat my mother-in-law out of a set of houses. If you know him, ask him to return the houses. Oh, and there's a group of old people gathered outside his company. It would be best if he shows up to resolve it."
After William finished speaking, Alan stood up and nodded vigorously. "Alright, I'll contact him right away."
He ringed up the phone.
Alan kicked Virgil, who was still smiling, from the dining table to the ground, and sternly asked, "Virgil, do you know what trouble you've caused?"
Virgil held his stomach, and the drink he had just taken came out. He looked innocent and replied, "Mr. Jordan, please don't scare me. I don't do anything."
Alan slapped him again and angrily said," Do you swindle the old man's house?"
Virgil nodded and said, "I swindle dozens of old people's houses. They are all people without any background, so there shouldn't be a problem."
Virgil was telling the truth. He really didn't dare to swindle someone with a background.
Otherwise, he would be asking for trouble.
"Bullshit! Do you know whose house you swindled?" Alan was really furious.
He even dared to swindle William's mother-in-law. He must be tired of living!
"Whose house?" Virgil was also in a panic, and it was the first time he had seen Alan so angry.
"William's mother-in-law!" Alan roared.
Virgil immediately collapsed to the ground, his legs trembling, and muttered to himself," No, how could it be? I have checked they all have no background."
"Check your ass! Hurry up and go to the company. If you don't handle this well, you'll have to face the consequences!" Alan warned angrily, dragging the terrified Virgil out of the hotel and into the car, heading straight to the latter's company.
