Chapter 191 Family Visitors

William replied: [It's fine.]

On the other end, George replied: [Sir, are you at the seafood restaurant? Perfect timing, the head of the Jones Group, Dylan Brooks, is here with me. He wants to meet with you to discuss the investment in BK Pharmaceuticals. Should I have him meet you at the seafood restaurant?]

The head of the Jones Group in Imperial City?

William's face showed a hint of amusement. He glanced at Terry, who was still yapping away, and replied: [Alright, have him head this way.]

After sending the message, William put down his phone.

The Jones family had multiple branches, and Jones Groupin Imperial City was just a small division.

Margaret was genuinely frustrated, muttering for a while before finally smiling apologetically at Dorothy and Terry. She said, "How can we let you foot the bill? How about I pay it instead?"

To Margaret, spending money was like cutting a piece of her flesh.

But there's no choice; she needed to maintain dignity.

Relying on William won't help her save dignity.

"Aunt Margaret, it's just a meal. Don't be so formal. Besides, Terry makes over forty thousand a year. He won't care about such a small amount. But William, can he afford the private room fee or the meal?" Anna put away her makeup box, her eyes full of mockery, and said sarcastically without mercy.

Anna was feeling pretty smug. It had been a long time since she had shown off in front of Mary like this.

If Mary hadn't married a useless husband like William, Anna wouldn't know how to show off in front of such a perfect woman like Mary.

"Yes, Aunt Margaret, just enjoy the meal. This is peanuts me."

Terry also chimed in, acting like he had deep pockets.

The kicker was that he could show off his wealth and status in front of Mary, which gave him a real ego boost.

Thanks to William, he could earn his face effortlessly.

Margaret almost buried her head under the table;it was too embarrassing. She was really jealous of Dorothy and also very resentful of William.

William was still smiling foolishly beside Mary, not knowing what to say.

"What are you smiling about? Look at Terry, then look at yourself. If you had even a fraction of Terry's ability, I'd wait on you hand and foot." Margaret was so angry that she had a headache. She glared at William and complained.

With that, Mary wanted to defend William, but William pulled her hand under the table.

"It's okay," William whispered in Mary's ear.

Dorothy and Anna, on the other hand, laughed mockingly.

It felt really good to look down on a loser.

William said to Margaret calmly, "Mom, actually, I have quite a bit of money. If you don't believe me, I'll pay the meal today."

"What nonsense are you spouting?" Margaret was furious.

The meal cost ten thousand per person and there were six people here, totally sixty thousand.

'Does he think he can he afford it? Does he expect me to settle the tab in the end?' Margaret thought.

Margaret began to scold William, "You have no shame. You say you have money and whose money is it? Isn't it all Mary's? With your salary, how much can you earn in a year?"

"Mom, I really have money. I have it in my card..." William wanted to explain.

"Enough, shut up!" Margaret interrupted William, getting angrier.

William had nothing more to say. He couldn't argue with Margaret, so he dropped it.

"Aunt Margaret, don't argue with him. He's clearly struggling. How about this, I'll introduce him to a job later, and he can earn over ten thousand a month," Terry said generously.

Margaret nodded repeatedly and said, "Thank you so much."

Terry felt extremely satisfied. Then he walked over to William, patted him on the shoulder, and said with a smile, "William, a real man doesn't leech off his wife. If you want to change your job and earn money, come to me anytime. I'll arrange it for you, okay?"

William raised his eyebrows, then looked at the smug Terry with a calm expression. Terry was just using this opportunity to show off to Mary.

'I can arrange things for your chairman, what makes you think you could arrange things for me? Do you think I'm a useless freeloader?' William wondered inwardly.

"Nah, thanks anyway, Terry. I quite enjoy being supported by Mary. Mary enjoyssupporting me, too."

William, who was thick-skinned, said while holding Mary's hand.

"Deal, I'll support you," Mary said cooperatively with sparkling eyes.

Upon seeing it, Terry felt a surge of anger but just sneered and sat back down without saying anything.

Anna figured it out and gave Terry a hard kick under the table. She muttered, "What do you mean? Are you interested in Mary?"

She gave Terry a murderous glare.

Terry just smiled. He held Anna's hand as he explained, "What are you getting at? You're the only one for me."

After that, the meal was quite unpleasant. Dorothy's family kept taking jabs at William whenever they got the chance, but William didn't care and continued eating. He wasn't going to let their words spoil his appetite.

However, Mary was worried so she nudged his heel and whispered, "Are you okay? If you're feeling uneasy, I'll go out with you."

William smiled and said, "It's fine, I'm used to it."

Terry felt even angrier when he saw William and Mary whispering. He had to embarrass William in public.

"Manager, what's going on here? Didn't I reserve this private room?" At this moment, a very displeased middle-aged man's voice came from outside the door.

"I'm really sorry, Mr. Powell, it was my fault. How about getting you another room?"

"Another room? What good is that now? I only want this private room. Do you know who Mr. Brooks is hosting today? Go tell the people inside to clear out, and I'll cover the cost."

"Mr. Powell, to be honest, the person inside is the general manager of RK Pharmaceuticals. I can't offend him."

The manager was referring to Terry. After all, RK Pharmaceuticals was a Fortune 500 company, and as a restaurant manager, he couldn't afford to offend them.

Hearing the manager's argument outside, Terry also got angry. He stood up and shouted, "Who's out there? Don't you know we're eating? Get lost!"

With that shout, Dorothy and the others in the private room felt their prestige swell considerably.  and puffed out their chests.

"It's me, Gavin."

As soon as he spoke, a man in his thirties wearing glasses walked in. He looked polite and said, "Excuse me, everyone. Could you move to another private room? I’ve reserved this one. Don't worry about the cost; I'll cover it. How about that?"

"No way! Why should we move? Are you looking down on us?"

"Exactly, who are you to order us around?"

"Terry isn't short on money; we won't move."

Dorothy and Margaret were the loudest, not taking Gavin seriously at all.

When he heard Gavin's name, Terry felt a bit uneasy; it sounded familiar. But with Dorothy and Margaret's support, he couldn't back down. He stood firm and said, "Gavin, is it? We're already halfway through our meal. Asking us to leave now isn't reasonable, is it?"

"Terry, right? I'm really sorry, but could you please make an exception?" Gavin pleaded as he clasped his hands together.

"Sorry, but no. If you want the room, wait until we're done."

Terry completely discarded his pretenses. After all, he was in front of so many people, especially Mary and William; he couldn't lose face.

"Exactly, wait until we're done. Get out!"

Dorothy started cursing again and said to Margaret, "Margaret, let's eat and ignore him. Terry knows the owner here. Who's this Gavin, anyway?"

"Gavin, what's the holdup? Mr. Jones will be here any minute," A white-haired old man said as he walked in.

"Mr. Brooks, you're just in time. They don't want to move. The general manager of RK Pharmaceuticals is hosting a meal and said we should wait until they're done," Gavin glanced at Terry and said coldly.

"Mr. Brooks?" Terry turned pale and stood up in a panic.

"Terry? Your private room?" Dylan asked.

He recognized Terry; they had met during a previous visit to RK Pharmaceuticals.

"Mr. Brooks, I didn't know it was you who needed the room," Terry stammered with sweat on his forehead. Dylan was the chairman of the Jones Group.

He had met him once during a meeting with the directors of RK Pharmaceuticals.

"I'll be hosting a distinguished guest in a bit. Could you please make an exception and vacate the room?" Dylan said sternly.

"No problem, Mr. Brooks, please." Terry quickly nodded and signaled to Dorothy and Anna to move.

Upon seeing Terry's state, everyone dared not protest and quietly walked out.

Dorothy muttered a few complaints under her breath.

But suddenly, a voice arose from the private room.

"Mr. Brooks, how about letting us finish our meal before we move?" It was William, who was still eating, said slowly.
