Chapter 399 William Was Forced to Sign the Agreement

Mary got up, looking a bit confused, and shook hands with the other person. "Hey, are you Ellie?" she asked.

The woman flashed a bright smile and shook her head. "Nah, I'm just a friend. Ellie had something come up and couldn't make it. She asked me to give you this."

She pulled a USB drive from her bag and handed it to Mary. "She said everything you need to know is on here. It's your call if you wanna check it out or not."

With that, she gave a small smile and turned to leave.

Mary stood there, holding the USB drive, silent for what felt like forever.

Just as she was lost in thought, a sudden shout snapped her back to reality.

"Mary, what are you doing here?"

William came over, looking a bit anxious, glancing around, but didn't see anyone else here.

He thought to hinself, 'Had they met?'

"Oh, hey! Just meeting a friend," Mary said, quickly hiding the USB drive. Forcing a smile, she asked, "Aren't you supposed to be at the office? What brings you here?"

William replied calmly, "Oh, the problem got sorted out, and I was just passing by and saw you."

"By the way, who were you meeting? Where are they?" William asked with a smile.

Mary's eyebrows furrowed slightly, and she smiled. "She didn't show up. Something came up last minute. Why so curious about my friends?"

William chuckled. "No reason, just asking. Let's head home."

"Okay."

Mary didn't think much of it and followed William out of the coffee shop.

On the way, both of them were lost in their own thoughts, silently testing each other.

An invisible crack started to form between them.

They got back to the villa without saying a word. Mary went upstairs first; she was feeling a bit tired.

William lagged behind. As he passed the living room, he noticed Margaret, Delia, and Ulysses huddled together, plotting something.

Tyler, sitting to the side, seemed uninterested.

Seeing William return, Margaret immediately sat up straight, adjusted her posture, and cleared her throat a few times.

Delia, catching the signal, stood up with a smile. "William, you're back? Come here. I need to talk to you."

William, hands in his pockets, glanced at them and asked indifferently, "What's up?"

Delia pulled William down, glanced at Margaret and Ulysses, and said, "William, Nancy just graduated. Can you get her a position at Mary's company? Any department manager role will do, just to get some experience. What do you think?"

Delia had been mulling this over for days.

She wanted William and Mary to agree, even if it meant pushing them.

William's eyebrows furrowed, and his face turned cold.

A random department manager?

Delia had some nerve.

"I can't make that decision. Besides, Nancy just graduated, and you want her to be a manager? That's not happening," William said, standing up to leave.

Delia quickly grabbed him, smiling. "Oh, William, why not? Just talk to Mary. Nancy is smart and capable; she'll get the hang of it. Please, help me out, okay?"

Delia lowered her stance, knowing that without William, it wouldn't work.

William's face darkened, and he looked at Margaret sitting on the sofa. "Was this your idea?"

Margaret neither confirmed nor denied it. "Whether it was my idea or not, we're family. Won't you help? Do I have to beg you for a favor?"

Margaret still held a grudge against William over the last incident about the villa's ownership.

William was getting more and more out of line.

"Then why don't you ask Mary yourself?" William said coldly, his face livid. "I don't agree with this. Nancy just graduated; she can intern at the company. I'll ask Mary to arrange it, but as for being a department manager, no way!"

Who did they think they were, treating BK Pharmaceuticals like their own playground?

Delia, hearing this, immediately signaled Ulysses with her eyes.

Ulysses stood up, his face stern, and said coldly to William, "William, I'm your uncle. It is disrespectful to talk to your mother-in-law and aunt like that. After all, you're just a son-in-law in the Smith Family. What right do you have to act all high and mighty? Whether you like it or not, you have to help with this!"

For once, Ulysses acted like he had a spine, his eyes coldly fixed on William.

Delia kept giving him looks, silently cheering him on for finally stepping up.

But William just let out a sneer. "Ulysses, don't get too full of yourself. Your whole family is still living in my villa. Feel free to pack up and leave anytime!"

Margaret couldn't just sit by anymore. She stood up, shouting, "Well, William, are you saying you're the boss of this house now? Are we, the Smith Family, just your servants?"

Margaret was fuming. What did William mean by that?

Was he calling the shots now?

"Margaret, what exactly are you trying to say?" William questioned, his face cold, his eyes filled with icy intent as he stared her down.

Margaret, now emboldened by the presence of Ulysses' family and Tyler, was completely unafraid.

With a stern face and furrowed brows, she arrogantly pulled out an agreement from a drawer and slapped it on the table. "Nothing much. Just sign this agreement, and we'll be at peace."

William looked around and saw Tyler shaking his head helplessly, while the other three had smug looks on their faces.

So this whole act was for this.

William walked over, picked up the agreement, and glanced at it.

The first clause was to acknowledge Margaret as the head of the household, with all decisions made by her.

The second clause required William to unconditionally obey Margaret, fulfilling his role as a son-in-law, including various unreasonable conditions, especially not being allowed to hit or scold Margaret, and if violated, he would have to pay a ten million dollar penalty.

The third clause was even more shameless.

It demanded that William unconditionally give the villa to Margaret.

"Margaret, you wish." William questioned, a bit exasperated upon seeing the agreement.

There was no way he would sign this. Were these people out of their minds?

But Margaret chuckled and said, "William, you have to sign this agreement because I have evidence of your infidelity! Once I reveal it, not only will you have to divorce Mary, but you'll also leave with nothing!"

"What evidence?" William asked.

Margaret immediately took out a stack of photos and threw them in front of William, coldly saying, "Look, aren't these you?"

William picked up the photos, many of which were of him with other women, like Abigail, Harper, Betty, and Scarlett.

The precise angles indicated they were taken by a professional.

"You had someone spy on me?" William asked, his face changing completely. It was obvious he had been followed and photographed.

Margaret sneered, crossed her arms, and sat on the sofa with great satisfaction. "I'm doing this for Mary. I didn't expect you to be such a scumbag, William, fooling around with other women! If Mary sees these photos, what do you think she'll do?"

William had been secretly involved with numerous women, all behind Mary's back.

William's eyes narrowed, and cold sweat formed on his forehead. He could explain all of this because he really hadn't done anything.

However, many of the photos were misleading, making it look like something was happening.

It would be hard to explain.

William wasn't afraid of trouble, but he feared Mary misunderstanding him.

"So, William, have you thought it over? Will you sign or not?" Margaret said triumphantly.

She had spent a lot of money to have these photos taken, all to deal with William today.

"If you don't agree, these photos will be in the newspapers tomorrow! Then, you'll be the most infamous scumbag in our city! Even Mary will be dragged down with you. Do you want to see that happen?" Delia chimed in, her eyes cold.

They were shameless enough to use Mary to threaten William.

William glanced upstairs, his eyes cold. Finally, he gave in and said, "I'll sign, but I warn you, Margaret, don't push your luck. Let's pretend this never happened."

Margaret was overjoyed, knowing William would agree. She immediately smiled and said, "Of course, you're still my son-in-law after all. As long as you correct your mistake in time, it's fine. Sign it."

William felt utterly helpless. He didn't want Mary to misunderstand anything.

Picking up the pen, he hesitated. Should he sign his name on the agreement or not?
