Chapter 452 Trump Card
Santino turned his head and sneered, "You threatening me, Yosef? This is the Gonzales family's turf, not your office. And I'm the last guy to get scared. Your special status? Doesn't mean squat to me! This is my place, I make the call!"
Yosef shook his head, feeling a bit sorry for Santino, and said, "Santino, this isn't a threat. I don't need to threaten you. Just stating a fact. William's not someone you can mess with. You've got twenty-five minutes left."
Ronan looked at Santino with pity, thinking, 'Santino's still being stubborn, even when he's about to get wrecked! They have no idea what Scarlett's like when she's mad! Who would've thought the Gonzales family would end up like this, a nest of vipers!'
After being provoked and warned repeatedly, Santino was also getting angry. He turned around and snapped, "Fact? What fact? All I see is you abusing your special status, barging into the Gonzales family's private residence, and demanding to take someone we've already captured! I won't let this slide, and neither will the Gonzales family!"
Ronan crossed his arms and snorted, "Yosef, don't waste your breath. Look at these idiots—they have no clue what's going on. They brought this on themselves and deserve every bit of it! Let's stop wasting time. Just wait and see."
"The Ashford family sure knows how to throw their weight around, acting like the Gonzales family doesn't matter. Fine, if you say wait for half an hour, then I'll wait for half an hour!" Santino said.
He stood at the door without hesitation, lit a cigarette, took a few puffs, and exhaled the smoke.
He had no choice; he took the job and had to see it through. Even if things escalate, it was a problem between the Gonzales family and the Ashford family, and he could walk away unscathed.
Santino sneered, "I'll stand here and see who dares to take a step forward. Let's see what you can do to me after half an hour!"
"Idiot! I can't take it anymore. Yosef, let's break in!" Ronan exclaimed.
Just as Ronan and Jimmy were about to make a move, two bright headlights suddenly lit up at the entrance.
Santino sneered, while Ronan silently lowered his fists. Given the license plate, it was undoubtedly Thelonious' car.
As soon as Thelonious got out of the car, he saw the courtyard full of people, all looking murderous. He frowned and asked, "Santino, what's going on here? What are you all doing?"
Santino flicked away his cigarette butt, walked up to Thelonious, and whispered a few words in his ear.
Thelonious immediately frowned, looked at Yosef, and then warmly shook Yosef's hand. "So it's the Ashford family. What brings you here so late at night? Is there something urgent?"
Thelonious, being shrewd, started with pleasantries.
Yosef naturally understood Thelonious's intentions; it seemed he was just like Santino. Thelonious was also sizing up Yosef and his men. There were only three of them, not much of a threat. Even if a conflict arose, he could detain them first and release later.
Moreover, the fact that the Ashford family came here indicated that the William they captured tonight was no ordinary person!
Thelonious figured Yosef showing up had a lot to do with William. After mulling it over, he made a call. It was just a few Ashfords, and this was Gonzales territory; he had every right to detain them. William needed to be sent to the Gonzales Mansion in Imperial City tonight!
But Thelonious was puzzled. Why was William mixed up with the Ashford family?
"We've got an urgent thing, and it's very tricky," Yosef said, looking at Thelonious. "You captured a guy named William today. We need to see him right away."
Thelonious frowned slightly, turned to Santino, and asked, "Did you capture this guy?"
Santino smirked shamelessly, "Mr. Gonzales, I'm not sure. I was just about to have my men check."
Thelonious nodded, a look of approval in his eyes. Jeffery's recommendation of Santino was spot on; Santino was sharp. He said, "Alright, go check quickly. We can't keep Yosef and his men waiting too long."
Then he turned to Yosef and smiled. "Yosef, you must be starving by coming over so late. How about I take you out for a meal? My treat."
Ronan snorted and muttered, "Another clueless guy."
Thelonious frowned and glared angrily at Ronan.
Yosef quickly interjected, "We're not hungry. We just hope you can handle this matter quickly so we can report back."
Thelonious withdrew his gaze, his face all smiles, looking kind and benevolent. He signaled Santino to quickly take his men to check, while he stayed in the courtyard with Yosef and his crew.
There was no choice; if they didn't go in, Thelonious couldn't go in either. He was just using his status to keep them from entering.
Santino led his men into the dimly lit room, seeing William sitting leisurely through the one-way mirror. Without a word, Santino pushed the door open and walked in.
Zander's back was already drenched in cold sweat. Seeing Santino walk in, he let out a sigh of relief and said, "Santino!"
Santino waved his hand and said, "You go out first. Leave the rest to me."
Zander nodded and quickly walked out. Once outside, Zander stood at the door and let out a sigh of relief. The pressure inside was intense! He felt William was like a lurking tiger, ready to strike at any moment.
In the dimly lit room, Santino sat down, looked at William across from him, and smiled. "Hello, we meet again."
William raised an eyebrow, glanced at Santino, and then smiled. "Santino, it seems you still have your eye on me."
Santino said, "Yeah, didn't expect us to meet again like this."
He closed his notebook, crossed his arms, and his face turned serious. "Let's talk. Are you planning to have Alan come again this time?"
William shook his head. "No need. I can handle it myself."
"How? I'm really curious. What makes you so confident? I've looked into you, a loser. But now, I'm confused about who you really are," Santino remarked, intrigued.
"Didn't you see clearly last time?" William retorted.
"Last time was last time. This time is different. People targeted by the Gonzales family rarely walk out alive, unless you have a trump card," Santino sneered.
William frowned slightly, was silent for a moment, then suddenly smiled, "Did Jeffery send you, or was it Savannah?"
In an instant, Santino's heart trembled. William actually knew!
