Chapter 189 I've Met Mr. Jones
Dorothy's tone was dripping with sarcasm.
Margaret felt as if she were covered in thorns, her face burning with embarrassment at Dorothy's words.
Mary could also tell that Dorothy was mocking William, but she was unsure how to respond.
"Oh? So this is William. He seems alright, pretty healthy."
Terry said rudely, not even bothering to stand up, as he leisurely drank water on the couch.
"Terry, you're so funny. Didn't you say he was simple-minded?"
Anna caught on to Terry's meaning. She couldn't help but laugh.
William looked bewildered. He had just stepped out for a smoke and, upon returning, found himself surrounded by people mocking him. At the thought of it, his face darkened.
"What are you doing? Why don't you come over and greet Terry? This is Anna's husband." Margaret scolded him irritably.
Feeling helpless, William walk over and said with a smile, "So you're Terry. Nice to meet you, I'm William."
Terry looked at William's extended hand with extreme indifference and said coldly, "No need to be so polite."
His tone was cold and full of disdain, not even bothering to shake hands.
It was blatant disrespect for he left William hanging there.
William's expression froze momentarily, but he maintained a polite smile. Then he withdrew his hand and observed Terry closely. Despite his decent appearance, the heavy bags under Terry's eyes showed he was overworked, and his lecherous eyes kept staring at Mary sitting diagonally across.
William thought he wasn't a good person indeed.
It made William very unhappy.
William walked over and sat next to Mary. He covered her legs with a blanket. "Cover up your legs, it's cold."
Terry just chuckled and didn't say anything.
But Margaret was fuming. Clearly, it was Dorothy who taught Terry to perform so disrespect.
Margaret glared at William. Because she felt very uncomfortable about being treated like this.
To ease the awkwardness, Margaret asked abruptly, "Dorothy, wasn't Terry doing the real estate business ? How did he end up as the general manager at RK Pharmaceuticals? What does that entail? How about the salary?"
"Margaret, you don't get it. This is the so-called comprehensive development. Terry is not like William, who just deliver food. He's only been there a few months, and his annual salary is already $400,000. Although it's less than before, he has a promising future."
Dorothy was so pride that her eyes were filled with admiration for Terry, tinged with unusual affection, which William immediately noticed.
Because the eye contact between Dorothy and Terry sparked a bit of chemistry.
'There's something going on between those two. Does Anna know?' William thought.
"Terry is so young and promising, with such a high salary." Margaret was very envious and jealous.
William could only calculate his salary by the month.
"By the way, what does RK Pharmaceuticals do?" Margaret asked again.
"It's a listed company, a major company in Imperial City, one of the Fortune 500, and a subsidiary of the Jones Group."
Anna said proudly, "The Jones Group, you must have heard of it lately, right? They have billions in assets across the country. Terry earned his way into RK Pharmaceuticals, so his future is definitely bright."
While speaking, Anna didn't forget to glance at Mary to show off.
Mary could tell her smug expression, but she didn't care at all.
Even if everyone was better than William, he was the best in her heart.
So no matter who he was, he was still her beloved.
William, however, almost burst out laughing after hearing Anna's words.
RK Pharmaceuticals and the Jones Group, those were all part of his family's business. What did Terry have to be so proud of?
He really wanted to tell them that the RK Pharmaceuticals they were so proud of was actually owned by his family.
"Anna, I really envy you for having such a great husband like Terry. Your life must be very happy, unlike my poor Mary." Margaret glared at William deliberately as she said. She felt very resentful because of William.
"Margaret, don't worry. Isn't this a great opportunity? I heard that the Jones Group invested a billion dollars in Mary's company.That's a lot of money."
Dorothy's face was full of smiles as she said, "Mary, I heard from Margaret that you're now the chairwoman of BK Pharmaceuticals. So, you must have the authority to decide the collaboration, right?"
Everyone understood immediately.
Mary and William exchanged a glance.
They understood the reason for Dorothy's family visit today.
"Dorothy, we're all family, so of course we help each other. But we have to thank the Jones Group for their great vision," Margaret said excitedly.
"Aunt Margaret, the Jones Group has notified all its major pharmaceutical companies to Lindwood City to discuss cooperation. Terry happens to be leading the project," Anna said, unable to hide her pride.
Terry touched his nose and said with a smile, "It all depends on Mary. If Mary is willing to discuss cooperation with RK Pharmaceuticals, I can guarantee that within two years, BK Pharmaceuticals will definitely be among the top ten pharmaceutical companies in the country."
"Thank you."
Mary smiled and said, "Decisions regarding company cooperation aren't made by me alone. I'll need to discuss it with the other board members."
Dorothy got anxious and immediately said, "Mary, you need to act quickly. If our two families join forces, that billion dollars will easily fall into our laps."
With that, Margaret's eyes widened at the sound of that and she quickly agreed, "Yes, Mary, you eally should consider it. Cooperating with Terry's company could be beneficial for you."
Mary felt a headache coming on. This wasn't something that could be decided so easily.
She glanced helplessly at William.
William interjected, "Mom, Aunt Dorothy, and Terry, don't be rush. After all, Mary doesn't have the sole authority to decide on company's partnerships."
"Shut up!"
"Be quiet!"
"Who asked for your opinion?" Dorothy snapped with displeasure.
Margaret also scolded. "Stay out of it and don't interrupt us."
At this point, Margaret and Dorothy were firmly united.
Anna also scolded arrogantly, pointing at William, "Mary, your husband is so clueless. We're discussing business here. What does he have to do with it?"
"Enough. William is my husband."
Mary glared at them angrily, then looked at helplessly William and whispered, "Go make dinner. I can handle it here."
William patted Mary's hand, giving her a reassuring look, then got up and went into the kitchen.
Mary sighed inwardly, then put on a smile and asked Terry, "Terry, since you work at RK Pharmaceuticals, have you met Mr. Jones?"
Mary was quite interested in Mr. Jones. After all, he had invested a billion dollars into her company, and he hadn't shown up yet. The whole of Lindwood City only knew of his legend.
Terry looked at Mary, feeling intense admiration. Mary was far more beautiful and graceful than Anna. How could such a beautiful woman be William's wife? What a waste!
To leave a good impression on Mary, Terry smiled slightly and said, "Yes, I've met him. We even had dinner together last time. He's an extraordinary person, very humble and polite."
Margaret couldn't wait to ask, "What does he look like? How old is he?"
Terry must be really impressive since he could have dinner with Mr. Jones.
Indeed, William couldn't compare at all.
Mary was genuinely curious about William's appearance.
Even William, in the kitchen, felt helpless, touching his nose and watching Terry boast with a speechless expression.
Terry was clearly exaggerating. When had he ever had dinner with him?
"How about it, Mary? I'm going to meet Mr. Jones later. Why don't you come with me?"
Terry looked at Mary with a sly smile, a flash of lust in his eyes.
Unaware, Mary d thought for a moment before saying, "Okay."
William got anxious upon hearing his proposal.
'What does Terry up to do?' William thought.
