Chapter 417 Who Exactly Is It
William was all kinds of stressed out.
Finally, he took a deep breath and blurted out, "I hit up a buddy for some help. He's got some serious connections in the biz."
Mary was quiet for a sec, then said, "Thanks."
As expected, it was William.
But was his buddy really that big of a deal?
Mary had heard from staffs in the PR department that his tactics were incredibly effective!
Out of nowhere, Mary asked, "I wanna thank him in person. Can you hook me up?"
William, looking a bit rattled, quickly shot back, "Uh, he's not in Lindwood City; he's in Imperial City. Maybe next time? I'll treat."
Mary wasn't letting it go.
"Alright, but you gotta thank him for me. He really came through this time," Mary said, all grateful. "Oh, and how much did it cost? Let me know, and I'll wire him the money."
William gave a helpless smile; it was all his own cash.
"Sure, I'll ask him later. Anyway, I got some stuff to handle here, so I'll catch you later. You should head back early," William said and quickly hung up.
Mary didn't think twice.
After all, William was the big shot at Crescent Investment Group; he probably knew some people.
Had she been underestimating him?
Who was this friend of his?
"How does he know so many people?" Mary muttered in the car, frowning, then headed back to the office.
Even though she didn't want William's help, she couldn't have handled this on her own.
When she got back, the PR team swarmed her, all excited, "Ms. Smith, how'd it go? What did your friend say? Who is it? Among the top twelve entertainment insiders, except for the top three who never show up in public, we know the rest. Is it one of the top three?"
They all thought Mary had met some bigwig.
Mary just smiled and said, "Nope. Get back to work."
Now, everyone was even more puzzled.
Looked like a new heavyweight was about to shake up the entertainment world.
It wasn't just about money; it was about connections, resources, and the power to stir up internet trolls.
Meanwhile, William, sitting in Alan's car, had already pulled up at Infinity Insight Media.
A bunch of black-suited bodyguards escorted William out of the car.
Behind him was Patricia, tall and slender.
Standing at the front, William shook his wrist, eyes sharp and full of swagger, hands in his pockets as he strolled towards the mansion.
The female assistant at the mansion's entrance freaked out when she saw the group.
With a neat ponytail, fair skin, and a sweet look, she spoke gently, "Please stop, how can I help you?"
"Here is Infinity Insight Media?" William asked with a faint smile.
The assistant asked politely, "Yes, are you looking for Caius?"
With so many people, and they didn't look ordinary. Could they be Caius's friends?
"Yeah," William replied.
The assistant smiled slightly, politely refusing, "Sorry, sir. No appointments tonight, so Mr. Beaumont isn't seeing anyone."
William frowned, glanced at the mansion, sneered, and stepped forward.
Panicking, the assistant quickly stepped in front, arms outstretched, chest out, blocking William.
"Sorry, Mr. Beaumont isn't seeing anyone. If you keep pushing, I'll have to call security," the assistant said, her face turning cold.
As she spoke, two burly security guards stepped out from behind her.
William frowned, getting a bit impatient, and said, "Out of the way."
The assistant was dedicated. She could see now that William was here to cause trouble. Her face turned ice-cold, and she said, "Sorry, I won't. Throw them out!"
Four bodyguards behind William stepped forward and quickly took down the security guards.
This scared the assistant out of her mind, and she hurriedly rushed inside.
She ran all the way to the mansion's hall, where Caius and his crew were anxiously making calls.
There was no other way; the online buzz about him was off the charts.
The vibe in the hall was super tense.
Caius was so pissed he'd already trashed a few computers.
Just then, the female assistant burst in, out of breath, and said, "Mr. Beaumont, we've got a problem. Someone's barging in, saying they wanna see you!"
"See me? Tell them to get lost! Can't you see I'm busy?" Caius snapped.
The assistant, looking scared, said, "But we can't stop them; they've already broken in."
Caius looked up, glaring at her, then stood up and roared, "Who the hell is trying to see me this late? Who is it?"
The assistant shook her head, her voice shaky. "They didn't say."
"Shit!" Caius cursed.
In a fit of rage, he said, "Stop them and throw them out. I'm not seeing anyone!"
With that, he ignored her and flopped back on the sofa, lighting a cigarette.
Apollo, who was next to him, chimed in, "Mr. Beaumont, could it be about BK Pharmaceuticals?"
Hearing this, Caius quickly sat up straight.
"No way, their department's useless. Besides; who the hell would come to see me this late?" Caius said, shaking his head.
Even if the other side was powerful, could they find his company this fast?
"Could it be Mr. Jones?" Apollo suggested, looking doubtful.
Caius was so scared his hand holding the cigarette shook a bit.
"No way, we haven't even figured out who he is. Now that I've been in trouble, they should stop. They wouldn't come here to find me, right?" Caius said, trying to convince himself.
He found it hard to believe someone would stand up for BK Pharmaceuticals like this.
Did BK Pharmaceuticals have that kind of cash?
Tonight, Caius truly got a taste of the terrifying power of money.
He used to think he was unbeatable at manipulating public opinion.
But their counterattack blindsided him, leaving him with no way to fight back, which made him super frustrated.
Suddenly, a cry of surprise echoed through the hall.
"Mr. Beaumont, look! Our stock value is plummeting!"
A staff member, staring at the computer screen, saw a green line nosediving.
Caius exploded, rage surging through him.
This was too much!
This was a total wipeout!
"Quick, contact all major shareholders, hold on, and when the market opens tomorrow, buy in large amounts. We gotta stabilize it!" he ordered.
He was still sharp enough not to lose his cool.
But before he could make the call, his phone started ringing urgently.
"What? You sold your shares?"
"You sold too?"
"Your thirty million shares... What? All sold?!"
Caius felt a pressure in his chest, coughed up a mouthful of blood, and slumped onto the sofa.
He hadn't expected their move to be so ruthless, directly cutting off his lifeline.
In just a short time, he had lost several hundred million dollars, with forty percent of the shares sold!
It was obvious someone was buying at a sky-high price.
Caius, overwhelmed with anger, finally calmed down a bit with the assistant's help.
"Luckily, the company still has three major shareholders. They shouldn't sell their stocks right now. I can still turn this around!" Caius said through gritted teeth and sat up, his eyes burning with anger.
He felt like the other side was coming at him with one move after another, totally aiming to destroy him.
It was a formidable enemy!
Caius hadn't even had a chance to fight back.
Their moves were too fast and intense!
Was it BK Pharmaceuticals, or his arch-enemy?
Was someone taking this chance to kick him while he was down?
He smashed the water cup in his hand and roared, "Who the hell is messing with me right now?"
But just as he finished speaking, a dozen people walked into the hall.
Then, a handsome and cold figure appeared in the hall.
A voice said lazily, "It's me."
William appeared in front of everyone, a wicked smile on his face, his cold eyes locked on Caius.
