Chapter 427 Fury

Sterling spun on his heel and bounced without another word.

Mary just stood there as Brenda and the crew rushed over. "Ms. Smith, did Mr. Beaumont give the green light?" they asked.

Mary shook her head. "Hit up Leander ASAP," she ordered.

Brenda, looking all jittery, said, "We can't get through; his phone's switched off."

Mary scrunched her brows, eyeing the press conference spot and the media trickling in. She made up her mind and said, "I'll handle it."

She grabbed her phone, stepped aside, and dialed up Maya. No other choice; she needed her help.

The moment the call connected, Maya's snarky voice came through. "Well, well, Ms. Smith herself is calling me."

Mary kept her cool and softened her tone. "Maya, for old times' sake, can you help me get in touch with Leander?"

Maya, chilling in a bikini at her vacation pad, laughed out loud. "You want my help? Then beg me."

Mary's face tightened, but she said, "Fine, Maya, I'm begging you. Please help me contact Leander."

"Mary, you really think I'd help you? You bitch, you deseve it!" Maya cackled. "You want my help? No way. Just wait to go broke and get locked up! And your useless hubby will drown in debt. You'll both pay for what you did!"

Maya was over the moon, laughing her head off. Mary actually came crawling to her.

"What do you want to let us off the hook?" Mary asked, desperate; time was ticking.

"Kneel and beg me now. Have someone record it and send it to me," Maya said smugly, her eyes gleaming with spite.

"Not happening!" Mary snapped, hanging up, her face burning with anger. Maya was too much.

Moments later, Sterling hit the stage and kicked off the press conference.

"I hereby revoke business licenses for BK Pharmaceuticals and order a three-month production halt," Sterling announced.

The media went nuts, cameras flashing at Sterling and Mary. The whole city was broadcasting the news.

BK Pharmaceuticals was officially shut down.

Mary clenched her fists, stormed out of the press conference.

As soon as she stepped outside, a mob of reporters swarmed her, firing off questions.

"Ms. Smith, got anything to say?"

"Is it because of bad drugs or company drama?"

"Ms. Smith, does this tie into those online rumors? Did you really achieve your status through intimate relationships?"

Mary was completely mobbed by the press.

Meanwhile, a bunch of angry folks with weapons showed up on both sides of the street, pointing at her and yelling, "There she is! The woman who sold fake drugs!"

The crowd surged forward.

Security guards tried to hold them back, but they were outnumbered.

In the chaos, someone shoved Mary hard from behind, sending her crashing to the ground.

As the crowd parted, Mary lay there, pale and in obvious pain. Blood was pooling between her legs.

"Ms. Smith!" Brenda screamed, rushing over. "Call an ambulance, quick!"

But the media didn't miss a beat, zooming in for close-ups. One reporter even pressed on, "Ms. Smith, is the baby you're carrying your husband's?"

Brenda lost it, standing up and yelling, "What the hell is wrong with you? Have some decency!"

Minutes later, the ambulance arrived, and Mary was rushed to the hospital.

Meanwhile, William got Brenda's call and bolted out the door in a panic.

Alan was right behind him, with two teams of bodyguards in five black Mercedes, speeding to the hospital!

William headed straight for the operating room, where Brenda and the others were waiting.

Seeing William, Brenda broke down, "William, it's all my fault. I didn't take good care of Mary."

She sobbed uncontrollably, collapsing into his arms.

William patted her back gently, "It's not your fault."

The others were stunned to see Alan standing respectfully behind William, along with the bodyguards.

Soon, the doctor came out.

William rushed over, "How's my wife?"

The doctor glared at him, "It's very dangerous. If she had come a few minutes later, the baby wouldn't have made it. She needs to be hospitalized for observation; her condition is unstable and she could miscarry at any time."

William was floored. He watched as Mary was wheeled out of the operating room and into the ICU.

He clenched his fists tightly, staring through the window at Mary on the bed.

An overwhelming rage consumed him. Everyone in the corridor felt the chill and fury radiating from him.

Alan and the others stood respectfully behind William, waiting for his orders.

William pulled out his phone and called George, his voice icy, "I want all the Medical Association branch's info in ten minutes! Every detail, leave nothing out!"

George was stunned. Who had pissed off William this time?

"Yes, Sir."

George hung up and immediately started digging.

William glanced at Mary, then turned to the tearful Brenda, "Come with me."

Brenda, her eyes red from crying, asked, "Where to?"

"The Medical Association branch. They're gonna pay for what happened today!" William said coldly, his eyes blazing with rage.
