Chapter 138 A Million, How About That?

Mary stood silently beside William, watching everything unfold. She was starting to feel as though she wasn't sure if she really knew him or not.

Margaret and Tyler were stunned, exchanging angry glances with each other.

"William, do you know how much trouble you've caused? What were you thinking? Her brother is a cop. We're done for, you've ruined our whole family." Margaret stepped forward, shoving William and cursing him angrily, then sat on the ground, wailing and making a scene.

William was very annoyed by Margaret's two-faced attitude. She was always biting the hand that fed her.

"Mom, it's okay. I can handle this," William said calmly.

"Really? How? You've doomed our whole family!" Margaret cursed angrily, wishing she could tear William apart.

If the woman's brother really came over, none of them would be able to leave today. They'd all end up in jail.

"Mom, will you stop? William did this for us!" Mary was really angry. Margaret cursing at William in public like this just made them all look bad.

Margaret was on the verge of losing her mind. She grabbed Mary and scolded her fiercely. "Mary, are you stupid? William hit someone and made them cough up blood. Her brother is a cop. If this blows up, he'll go to jail, and we'll have to pay compensation."

As she cursed, Margaret glared at William with resentment. She shouldn't have asked him to come, but she would never admit to her own mistake. Now, everything was William's fault.

Meanwhile, the flashy woman had finished her call. She looked at the dramatic scene and couldn't help but say sarcastically, "Do you regret it? It's too late for that now! You beat me up and kicked my partner. This won't be settled for less than a million dollars!"

It was blatant extortion. Margaret almost fainted when she heard the figure the woman gave.

"I don't care anymore. This has nothing to do with our family. It's all his fault. If you want compensation, get it from him!"

Margaret completely gave up, pushing all the blame onto William. Then, she angrily grabbed Tyler and tried to leave.

However, a figure at the door blocked their way, pushing them back inside and shouting, "Who hit my sister? Do you have a death wish? Do you know who I am?"

The man who entered was tall. He had handcuffs at his waist but was not in uniform. He was clearly an undercover cop.

As soon as he came in, the atmosphere became chilly, making everyone shiver.

He glared viciously at Margaret. He grabbed both Margaret and Tyler and threw them onto the couch. He said, "No one leaves until this is resolved."

With that, he sat on the couch and slammed his handcuffs onto the table. The action was meant to be intimidating, and it worked. Margaret screamed in fright, pointing at William and cursing, "Don't arrest me, I didn't do it. It was him, my son-in-law. If you want to arrest someone, arrest him. This has nothing to do with us."

Margaret was so quick to sell William out.

As a result, the burly cop came up and slapped Margaret hard, shouting, "Shut up!"

The slap stunned Margaret, making her shrink back, covering her face and not daring to speak.

William watched all this silently, not intending to intervene. Margaret had long deserved a beating, it was good for her to suffer a bit.

The flashy woman hurriedly brought the fat man over to the cop, crying and pointing at her mouth. "Paul, look at this. He did this. You have to arrest him, and all of them! This won't be settled for less than a million dollars!"

Paul glanced at his sister's injuries and immediately flew into a rage, pointing at William and shouting, "Kneel down and apologize to her!"

Paul was a brutal and savage man. His sister was everything to him. Anyone who dared to hurt her deserved death.

William glanced over them and stepped forward.

Mary grabbed William's arm and shook her head, whispering, "Why don't we just apologize? Let's not cause trouble, we can't afford it."

However, William patted Mary gently and said, "It's okay, I'm here."

Margaret had noticed the small interaction between William and Mary. She muttered, "What's he pretending for? Let's see how he handles this."

Paul glared at Margaret, shutting her up.

William calmly walked over to Paul, sat down directly across from him, and said, "So, how do you want to resolve this?"

Paul frowned. Looking at the composed William, he felt a bit uneasy.

This kid wasn't afraid of him. Paul was bewildered. 'Does he not know who I am?'

"You hit someone and still have the audacity to act so arrogant. You're the most fearless person I've ever met," Paul said, sneering. He took out his handcuffs. "Are you going to cuff yourself, or should I do it for you?"

His sister interjected, "Let me cuff him!"

However, William calmly said, "You just want money, right? Name your price."

Hearing this, everyone fell silent.

The flashy woman and Paul exchanged a glance, and she discreetly signaled with two fingers.

Paul immediately understood and smiled, "Alright, since you put it that way, two million dollars, and this matter is settled. After all, my sister didn't get beaten for nothing."

William nodded and surprisingly said, "Alright, two million dollars it is."

With that, the three people across from him were overjoyed.

They didn't expect this guy to actually have any money, but he agreed to pay two million just like that.

But Margaret was furious.

"Two million dollars? That's daylight robbery!" she shouted.

"Shut up! This has nothing to do with you!" Paul glared at Margaret, making her lower her head and stay quiet, trembling all over.

But inside, Margaret was seething with hatred for William. He must have secretly stashed away some money. It had to be from the last time George gave him some.

He definitely had more than two million.

Margaret was angry about it. 'How dare you lie to me.'

The more Margaret thought about it, the angrier she got. She glared at William and made plans on how to get her hands on all his money when they got home.

Meanwhile, the flashy woman looked at Paul with even more admiration. As expected, with Paul around, there was nothing that couldn't be resolved.

Feeling confident, she suddenly said arrogantly, "Just money isn't enough. You slapped me earlier, and I need to slap someone too!"

She was really pushing her luck.

Paul smiled. "My sister is right. One slap plus compensation, and this matter is settled."

However, once again, William did something unexpected.

He said, "How about this: three million dollars, and we act like nothing happened?"

As soon as he said this, both Paul and his sister gasped.

Three million?

This guy was loaded.

Paul thought for a moment, looked at his sister, and they both agreed. "Deal!"

One slap in exchange for an extra million was worth it.

At this point, Mary became anxious. She didn't know where William would get the money.

William picked up his phone, dialed Alan's number and asked, "Where are you?"

"Mr. Jones, we're at the entrance." Alan, along with Craig and a dozen strong men, had just arrived at the Hillside Villa Sales Office.

As soon as he got out of the car, he received William's call and hurriedly ran into the sales office.

At a glance, he saw William sitting on the couch, waving at him.

Alan smiled, jogged over to William, and respectfully said, "Mr. Jones, I'm here. What can I do for you?" He also nodded and bowed to Mary, saying, "Hello."

Mary was startled. Wasn't this Alan? She had seen him at Roy's birthday party. He was a famous and powerful person in Lindwood City.

Why was he here?
