Chapter 139 "There are a billion dollars in this card."

Mary stared at William with confusion.

'Who exactly is William, and why would someone as important as Alan show him such respect?' thought Mary.

It wasn't just Mary; Margaret and Tyler were also confused.

They had seen Alan before, at Roy's birthday party. Roy had shown Alan great respect.

But now, Alan was showing even more respect to William.

What was going on?

Margaret's eyes were filled with suspicion as she scanned William, finding nothing extraordinary about him.

This only made her more certain that Alan wasn't as important as he had initially seemed. After all, he was so respectful towards William, he couldn't be that impressive.

Roy must have been mistaken, showing such respect to a thug like this.

Meanwhile, Paul was slightly taken aback to see that William had actually called someone over. He furrowed his brows, feeling a sense of unease.

Paul exchanged a glance with his sister and they decided to stick to their idea.

What was there to be afraid of? He was a cop!

If anyone dared to cause trouble, he'd arrest them.

So, Paul slammed the table, causing the water cups to jump and spill water everywhere. He cursed angrily, "Damn it! Do you think I'm here to watch a show? Hand over the money, or I'll arrest all of you!"

"Who are you going to arrest?" Alan said, turning to glare at Paul.

Paul, still fuming, was about to lose his temper, but when he saw Alan's expression, he turned pale with fear, his heart pounding rapidly.

Was this Alan, Mr. Jordan?

No way.

Paul thought he was seeing things. He blinked hard and asked in a trembling voice, "Are you Mr. Jordan?"

Alan stood there solemnly, hands behind his back, looking at Paul and said, "Yes, I am Alan Jordan."

Paul was so scared that he fell off the couch, scrambling to get up and running over to Alan. He bowed and nodded repeatedly, his whole body trembling with fear. "Mr. Jordan, what brings you here?"

His legs were shaking, and the muscles at the corners of his mouth twitched.

Paul was terrified. The man in front of him was the powerful underground boss of Lindwood City!

He had influence in both the underworld and the legitimate world!

Who would dare to provoke him? Only someone with a death wish!

It was clear now that William's identity had to be incredibly terrifying, especially considering Alan's attitude towards him, which was nothing short of reverent.

Paul lamented inwardly, realizing he was in deep trouble for offending such a big shot today.

"I'm sorry! Mr. Jordan, I didn't recognize you. It's my fault!"

Paul apologized profusely. Then, to everyone's astonishment, he turned to William and said, "Mr. Jones, I'm sorry. I was wrong. I didn't recognize your status. Please forgive me."

As he spoke, Paul turned to his sister, signaling her with exaggerated winks and gestures. "Quick, apologize to this gentleman, this lady, and their parents!"

At that moment, Paul's only thought was to quickly admit his mistake and beg for forgiveness. Otherwise, if Alan got angry, his family would be ruined.

The flamboyant woman, proud and fearless, didn't understand why Paul, who feared nothing, would change his attitude so drastically upon seeing this man. She said coldly, "Paul, are you out of your mind? Who is he to deserve such treatment from you? He looks pretty ordinary to me. You're a cop, why would you be afraid of him?"

Paul wished he could strangle her. Speaking to Alan like that was practically digging their own graves.

Alan looked coldly at the flamboyant woman and frowned, "What's your name?"

Before anyone could react to Paul's apology, they saw Paul drop to his knees, tears streaming down his face.

"Mr. Jordan! Mr. Jordan! Spare me!"

Paul shouted, banging his head on the floor in apology. He then stood up and angrily slapped his sister. He glanced at her, realizing he had spoiled her too much.

The crisp sound of the slap echoed through the entire sales hall.

Everyone was dumbfounded. What just happened?

The large sales hall was filled with sales agents and buyers, all of whom were now utterly confused.

Paul, who had been so arrogant earlier, was a notorious cop in the area, known for his shady dealings. No one dared to go against him.

But now, Paul had just slapped his sister.

"Paul, why did you hit me?" The flamboyant woman was shocked, holding her face and looking aggrieved.

Two of her newly fixed teeth had already been knocked out earlier.

And now, Paul had slapped her again.

What was going on?

"I told you to kneel and apologize to this gentleman, this lady, and their parents! Why don't you listen to me?"

Paul was furious. His sister was too foolish, couldn't she see what was happening?

Everyone was stunned again.

Just moments ago, Paul and his group had been adamant that they wouldn't let this go without compensation.

And now, he knelt and apologized immediately?

They couldn't understand so their turned gazes to William.

Who exactly was this seemingly ordinary man?

Margaret was utterly shocked, cold sweat breaking out all over her body. She had thought William was doomed for sure, but to her surprise, a single phone call from William had brought Alan here. Now, the previously arrogant Paul was bowing his head in apology.

Mary's eyes were already glazed over. She had a rough understanding of Alan's power and influence, but she hadn't expected it to be this prestigious. Just finding out his name had Paul kowtowing in apology.

Involuntarily, Mary's gaze fell on William again. What kind of background did William have? Was his family really just running a restaurant? Did he really just run away from home? For the first time, Mary was filled with doubt about this explanation.

However, at this moment, William said calmly, "Alan, don't scare them. I always handle things reasonably. Since they want money, just give them."

With that, William pulled out a card from his pocket and handed it to Alan, saying, "Help me withdraw three million dollars."

"Okay," Alan replied respectfully, taking the bank card. He then personally went out, headed to a nearby bank, and withdrew three million, filling eight bags.

The eight bags burst open in front of Paul, revealing stacks of green hundred-dollar bills.

This scene was truly shocking to everyone!

Was that really three million?

Margaret was so excited she almost fainted. Three million! William had actually withdrawn three million dollars. Her eyes filled with resentment as she stared at William, muttering to herself, "Well, William, you said you didn't have any money, but you had this much!"

Now, Margaret was even more convinced that the last time William mentioned helping George, George must have given him at least five million, not just one million!

That damn useless man, he was even hiding money from her.

Margaret was furious, even more so than when that flamboyant woman had hit her.

"Here's the three million, not a penny more or less. Do you want to count it?" William said calmly, sitting on the couch and looking at Paul, who was standing hunched over in front of him.

At that moment, Paul wanted to die, his whole body was trembling.

Did he dare take this three million?

No way! This was blood money!

But his sister, feeling justified, ran over and started stuffing the money into bags, saying, "I'll take it! This is your compensation to us."

Three million dollars was too tempting!

Paul was too cowardly, he didn't even dare to take it!

Paul couldn't hold back any longer. He kicked his sister, sending her sprawling, and shouted, "If you dare take it, I'll chop off your hand!"

Then he turned around, knelt in front of William again, and banged his head on the floor, begging for mercy. "Mr. Jones, please spare me and my sister. She's just too foolish. I apologize on her behalf to you and your wife. We were wrong. We'll compensate."

As he spoke, Paul pulled out a card from his pocket and respectfully handed it to William, saying, "Mr. Jones, I have two million in this card. It's my apology to you and your wife, and for the emotional distress and medical expenses of your parents. Please accept it!"

By now, most people understood that William wasn't just an ordinary man.

Margaret was the only one in the room who didn't buy it. To her, William was a useless drifter.

The money William had was secretly stashed away. As for Alan, she thought he was just called in to put on a show and scare people.

However, she was happy to see the others admitting their mistakes. She eagerly snatched the card from Paul's hand and swept all the money on the table into a bag. "Alright, I'll take this for William. Now, get out of here."

Everyone stared at Margaret in astonishment.

Margaret was truly shameless.

William felt helpless. He glanced at Alan, shook his head, and signaled to let it go.

What else could he do? Margaret was blinded by greed.

Alan shrugged and shouted, "Come in!"

Margaret was startled. She looked up to see a dozen men in black suits rushing in. She considered that they were there to rob them, so she quickly shielded the money.

But the men in black suits only escorted Paul, his sister, and the middle-aged man out of the room.

After that, Alan bowed to William and said, "Mr. Jones, I'll take my leave now."

With that, Alan left with his men.

Margaret was overjoyed and had forgotten her pain. She eagerly packed the money and nonchalantly said, "William, I'll keep this money for you. You can ask me for it when you need it."

Afraid that William might change his mind, Margaret grabbed Tyler and dragged the bags of money away hurriedly.

William felt helpless. He looked at Mary and said, "Let's go home."

Mary didn't say anything and followed William out of the Hillside Villa Sales Office. But once outside, she grabbed William's arm, staring intently at him, and asked, "Where did you get all that money? And what's the deal with Alan? Why does he treat you like that...?"

Before Mary could finish her questions, William interrupted her, handing her the card. "This card was meant for you. It has some money I saved before I left home. Over the years, I secretly invested in some stocks and made quite a bit. I was planning to take you and Sarah on a world tour once she got out of the hospital."

In fact, this card was the one William had set up at the bank last time, with a balance of a billion dollars.

But Mary didn't know it was in her name.

Mary was stunned. She took the card, smiled suspiciously, and asked, "Your savings? How much is in the card?"

William rubbed his chin and smiled slyly, "Do you want to know?"

Mary rolled her eyes at him and muttered, "What, does this card have hundreds of thousands or even millions?"

Of course, Mary was joking, but William nodded and calmly said, "Yes, this card should have..."
