Chapter 383 Who Exactly Is He
"Sorry, I have no clue what you're talking about," William said coolly, his eyes narrowing and his face turning icy.
Scarlett paused for a sec, then reached out her hand with a warm smile, "Oh, it's nothing. Maybe I mistook you for someone else, but I swear I've seen you somewhere before."
As soon as she said that, everyone's jaws hit the floor.
Scarlett, the queen bee, actually approached a guy and said she recognized him. It was like every dude's fantasy come true. Plus, that line sounded kinda familiar.
Next, with everyone staring in shock, William glanced at Scarlett like she was nothing and said, "Ms. Ashford, do we know each other? Your pickup lines are so old-school. Try something fresh next time, will ya?"
William's joke set off a buzz in the room.
That was ballsy.
How could he say that? This was Scarlett, the rich heiress and superstar!
Scarlett was so stunning and recently returned to the country, showing interest in some random guy in front of everyone, only to get shot down hard.
Every guy there was green with envy, wishing they were the one Scarlett had just hit on.
William was a disgrace. He was a total embarrassment to men!
Now, all the dudes in the room were giving William the stink eye, itching to jump him!
But remembering how he had kicked Lazlo's butt earlier, they just fumed silently.
Jeffery stood nearby, glaring daggers at William. This guy was too much. How could he treat Scarlett like that?
Jeffery was a hardcore Scarlett fan.
Mary's smile started to fade, confusion creeping onto her face as she eyed William suspiciously.
Scarlett was a global superstar and a VIP at tonight's event. How could he blow her off so coldly?
Did William really know Scarlett?
Mary's gut told her something was off.
William had already figured out Scarlett had some agenda, though he wasn't sure what.
Could it be Emrys' idea?
But to everyone's shock, Scarlett didn't get mad at William's words. Instead, her smile got even brighter, leaving everyone totally baffled.
"Is that so? Then let's get to know each other now. Hi, I'm Scarlett Ashford, and I admire you," Scarlett said, still smiling.
The guys in the room were now burning with envy, jealousy, and resentment toward William. They thought they were just as good as him, yet Scarlett was into this rude jerk!
William looked seriously into Scarlett's eyes, then frowned slightly and said, "I'm sorry. Maybe my charm is just too much for you, and you've fallen for me at first sight. Or maybe you need glasses? Either way, I gotta tell you, I'm already married."
With that, he pulled Mary close, casually draping his arm around her shoulder, and introduced her with a smile, "This is my wife, Mary Smith, the chairwoman of BK Pharmaceuticals."
Mary was stunned by William's words, at a loss for what to say.
How could William flaunt his affection so openly in front of everyone?
Everyone in the room gasped. William was too cocky and full of himself. How dare he refuse Scarlett, who would invest a billion dollars?
Scarlett, having been shot down by William repeatedly, should've been pissed, but she just smiled and said, "No matter what you say, I'm sure I've seen you somewhere. I'm staying in suite 668 on the top floor tonight. If you have time, come up and chat with me."
With that, she walked off, leaving everyone stunned.
What the heck was going on?
Everyone was dumbfounded.
Scarlett actually invited a stranger to her room to chat!
What was she up to?
The guys in the room were totally thrown, unable to figure it out.
Everyone watched William and Scarlett, trying to find some connection, but they couldn't see what drew Scarlett to William.
Wasn't William supposed to be a nobody?
This world was totally nuts!
If it were any other chick, she'd be called two-faced in a heartbeat.
But this was Scarlett, an international superstar and part of the Ashford family, one of the top dogs in Imperial City.
She actually invited a dude out in the open at night?
It was unbelievable!
Every guy felt a pang in their heart, the ache almost unbearable.
She was their goddess, their idol! How could she pull a stunt like this?
William was also a bit stunned. He hadn't expected Scarlett to trap him so publicly. Suddenly, he felt a bunch of intense eyes boring into him.
If looks could kill, William would be Swiss cheese by now, no doubt.
'Damn it, what's her deal? Is she out of her mind?' William wondered, rubbing his chin, looking super annoyed.
And those intense, angry stares were burning into him.
Mary was giving William a weird look. William shivered under her gaze and softly said, "Don't look at me like that. I'm just as lost as you are, Mary. It's really not what you think."
"You still say you don't know her?" Mary said coldly, like a cat whose tail had been stepped on, clearly pissed off.
"I don't know her. How could I know her? She's a big star," William firmly denied, shaking his head.
"Go ahead and have a candlelit chat with Scarlett!" Mary said lightly, her tone turning icy.
"Are you serious? You don't believe me either?" William asked in disbelief. Was Mary jealous?
"I'll go home by myself later. You don't need to see me off," Mary said, then picked up her evening gown and stormed out of the hall.
She thought angrily, 'William, how could you dare to fool around with another woman?'
William watched her leave, smiled wryly, and chased after her. When he reached the door, he saw Endymion blocking Harper, and they were in a heated argument.
Endymion pointed at Harper's nose, speaking viciously, "Harper, I warn you, leave the Price family, or you'll never get any info about your mom!"
"Endymion, don't push me!" Harper said, clenching her fists, her eyes filled with tears.
Being threatened by Endymion, she felt deeply resentful.
William frowned, walked up, and said coldly, "Endymion!"
Remembering what happened in the restroom earlier, William felt a surge of anger.
Endymion turned his head and saw William walking toward him with a cold expression. The chill in William's eyes made him shiver.
"What do you want to do?" Endymion stammered, panicked. Remembering the scene at the bar where William had beaten him, he started to tremble in fear.
Why was William still here?
Could it be that the people he sent had failed?
"What do I want to do?" William sneered.
He then said with a sharp look, "Beat you up!"
William delivered a forceful kick to Endymion's stomach, sending him flying onto the red carpet where he lay, vomiting violently and unable to rise for a while.
Then, William stepped forward, lifted his foot, and stomped hard on his head, pressing his face into the red carpet. Endymion felt like his face was being crushed.
"You're dead!" Endymion shouted stubbornly.
"Looks like you won't get it until you learn the hard way," William said, looking down coldly at Endymion. "If it weren't for the fact that you're from the Price family, I would've ended you already!"
With that, he increased the pressure under his foot, and Endymion screamed, "It hurts!"
"Now, can you talk properly?" William asked.
"Yes, yes. I can," Endymion hurriedly said.
He completely lost his nerve as his head was about to be crushed.
William was satisfied and lifted his foot, looking at Endymion, "Two conditions: First, go back to the Price family and never set foot in Lindwood City again; second, tell Harper the whereabouts about her mom. If there's any BS, you'll face the consequences!"
Endymion, with a twisted face, weakly asked, "Who the hell are you? Why do you meddle in the Price family's business?"
"Who am I?" William asked, smiling.
Looking at Endymion, he continued, "That's a good question. Do you know Remington Price?"
Remington Price was Endymion great-grandfather.
Endymion was stunned, and Harper was also shocked.
How did William know Remington?
Who was he?
