Chapter 358 Jessica's Recruitment
After hanging up the phone, William's face was full of anger. How dare those offshoots detain Nicholas!
Damn it! How dare they lay a hand on the main family!
William looked up at the sky, his heart cold and stern. Since they wouldn't listen to reason, he wouldn't hesitate to sever the ties between the main family and the branch family.
William then contacted Benjamin, instructing him to stay at the hospital for the next few days as he needed to prepare to return to Skyheart Island and would be temporarily unavailable to handle matters in Lindwood City.
After that, William contacted Alan.
Alan arrived quickly with his men in a Maybach, hurrying over and respectfully asking, "Mr. Jones, what do you want me to do?"
William glanced at Alan, uncertain if it would work, and asked, "How many people do you have?"
Alan replied, "Not particularly many."
William frowned, feeling a bit worried. It wasn't enough.
Moreover, most of Alan's men were small-time thugs with no real combat ability.
William wanted to use the family's power, but he knew that the branch family had their own forces as well.
He needed to find external support to ensure everything went smoothly.
Should he use the resources he had been preparing for so many years?
William stared up at the sky, his thoughts drifting to past events.
Revealing them now would mean losing all his secrets.
By then, those lurking in the shadows, including the branch family, would have countermeasures.
Was it worth it?
Just as William was lost in thought, a custom white Bentley stopped at the hospital entrance.
Jessica, still as elegant and noble as ever, stepped out of the car in a black backless evening dress, wearing a sun hat and custom crystal high heels. She looked at William with an indifferent expression.
William frowned slightly, watching Jessica walk toward him with cat-like grace, and said calmly, "You still have time to come to me?"
Jessica smiled faintly, took off her sunglasses, glanced at Alan beside him, and mocked, "William, you don't plan to take his men back to the island, do you?"
Jessica had long investigated Alan.
Alan might be a figure in Lindwood City, but compared to the Jones family, he was insignificant.
Any one of the branch family had more and better-trained guards than Alan's men, with all of them being elite.
"Is there a problem?" William asked, his eyes narrowing.
Jessica didn't beat around the bush and said, "I came to say one thing: it's not the right time for you to go back. Right now, the branch family are all waiting for you to return. As soon as you go back, your position as heir will be in jeopardy. This is also Nicholas's intention. I will handle this matter when I return. You stay here."
Jessica could restrain and imprison William on the island, using his identity to issue orders, but the branch family had no right to do.
William frowned, not understanding Jessica's words, and said coldly, "Jessica, you're now turning around to help me? Don't you have secrets with the branch family?"
Jessica smiled openly and said, "Yes, but I don't want the branch family to surpass the main family."
Upon hearing this, William fell into deep thought.
What exactly was Jessica plotting? William had no way of knowing. He only knew that she was always mysterious.
What were her backup plans?
William frowned and asked, "Can I trust you?"
Jessica chuckled, turned to leave, and before getting into the car, said, "The branch family must not interfere in our matters, nor can they attempt to touch the main family. This is my bottom line. On this point, we're on the same side."
With that, Jessica left in the Bentley.
William watched the taillights of the departing car, forming other plans in his mind.
Meanwhile, in the passenger seat of the Bentley, Zoe turned back in confusion and asked, "Madam, why are you helping William?"
Jessica looked at the scenery outside the window, her expression somewhat subtle as she said, "The branch family's ambitions are greater than I anticipated. They are like a wild wolf that's long gone rogue. If given the chance, they will undermine my plans. Therefore, I must strike a balance between the main family and the branch family. Only then can I gradually assume control over the entire family."
William returned to the ward where Mary was reviewing company documents. Seeing him come back, she smiled and asked, "What's wrong? You don't seem very happy."
"Oh, it's nothing," William said, smiling to cover up. Glancing at the documents in Mary's hand, he asked, "How's it going?"
Mary exhaled and said, "Not bad. The company is now fully operating the new drug. We've selected twenty new board members and established a new board structure. The next step is to launch the new drug and handle sales across various cities."
Mary felt relieved. She had been working hard for BK Pharmaceuticals for quite some time.
Now, it finally became stable.
William had contributed significantly to this.
Mary smiled, wrapped her arms around his neck, and kissed him, saying, "William, when is your friend who invested three billion dollars coming back? I want to invite him to dinner. After all, he has helped us a lot."
Who exactly was William's wealthy friend?
Mary was very curious.
"Oh, I'll ask him later. He's quite busy," William said casually.
Meanwhile, Jerry was in a dimly lit booth at a bar, continuously pouring himself drinks.
The banquet that night had completely stripped him of his dignity.
He clenched his fists. Next to him, Paisley, disheveled and beaten badly, was kneeling and crying, "Mr. Gray, I'm sorry. I'm really sorry."
Jeffery glared at her fiercely and slapped her hard, saying, "Get lost! You bitch; how dare you betray me!"
The slap knocked out two of Paisley's teeth and she quickly kowtowed, saying, "Thank you for sparing me."
Then she got up and limped away.
Jeffery didn't even look at her, sinisterly drank a glass of whiskey, and then silently made a phone call.
After spending the day at the hospital with Mary, William was preparing to return to the villa to be with Sarah.
He checked the time; it was past nine in the evening. There used to be a lot of people on this road, but tonight it was unusually quiet.
Out of the darkness, four black vans suddenly emerged, encircling William on all sides. It was late at night, and they were clearly there to cause trouble for William.
More than twenty burly men, all exuding a menacing aura, got out of the vans.
Each one looked like a seasoned fighter, holding weapons in their hands. They closed the car doors and encircled William tightly!
These guys were clearly not to be messed with. Many had knife scars on their bodies, obviously from being slashed, which was quite intimidating. And from the moment they appeared, they had a stance that screamed they were here to kill William!
The leader was a man over 6 feet tall, with tattoos on his arms and a noticeable knife scar on his eyebrow. He was muscular and stared at William with fierce eyes, saying, "Are you William?"
William frowned, glanced at these guys, and said coldly, "Who are you?"
The man sneered, "Take a guess. But I can tell you, soon you'll be thrown into the river to feed the fish. Be careful who you mess with in the future, or you won't even know how you died!"
William smirked and said, "Did Jeffery send you?"
Thinking it over, only Jeffery would resort to such tricks.
He really was persistent.
"Oh, you're a smart guy.Yes, it's Jeffery!" the man said, looking at William with disdain. Did he really need to bring so many men to kill such a skinny guy?
He continued, "How dare you mess with Jeffery? Do you have a dead wish? In your next life, be more careful about who you provoke!"
"I'll give you the same advice," William sneered.
"You're quite arrogant. No wonder Jeffery said to kill you," the man said.
Someone shouted, "Sir, stop wasting time with him. Just beat him up!"
Another thug chimed in, "Yeah, this guy looks like an idiot. Let's finish this quickly and go back to drinking and women!"
A voice said arrogantly, "Such a waste of time. Who does he think he is? Just a fool!"
The group shouted, all looking at William with mocking expressions, as if it was certain he would die tonight!
William knew Jeffery had been targeting him, but he hadn't retaliated much, as Jeffery wasn't much of a threat in his eyes.
However, Jeffery's recent actions had completely infuriated him.
It was time to settle things with Jeffery. He couldn't have a clown constantly hovering around him.
