Chapter 184 A Critical Moment

Just half an hour ago, William suddenly received a call from George, saying it was urgent.

Upon leaving the hospital, he saw George standing by the door of a Rolls-Royce with a cane.

He dressed in a suit and hat, looked very polite.

But upon closer inspection, one would notice beads of cold sweat on his forehead, and a look of panic in his eyes.

Something had had gone wrong!

It had to be told to William immediately.

"What’s going on, George? Why are you in such a hurry?" William asked as he walked out of the hospital.

"Mr. Jones, I am guilty."

George bowed his head, looking very respectful, and his words were filled with self-blame.

William's eyes narrowed. It was the first time he had seen George like this. He smiled and asked, "What exactly is going on?"

George didn't dare to hide anything and replied, "Mary and the unborn child might be in danger."

William's face turned cold suddenly. He didn't understand what George meant and asked nervously, "What do you mean?"

George wiped the cold sweat from his forehead and said, "Yesterday, when we were investigating the bracelet, my men found out that Margaret had been to a pharmacy and bought several medicines."

As he spoke, George glanced at William's face, which remained calm.

"Go on," William said coldly. He already sensed a hint of danger.

"According to my men, they confirmed that among those medicines, there was one..."

Sweat continued to pour down George's face, and he hesitated to continue.

This revelation could cost lives.

"Speak!"

William's face turned even colder, and his tone became as sharp as a sword, exuding a menacing aura.

"There was one... for abortion."

With that George bowed his head even lower, continuously apologizing, "I'm sorry, it was my negligence."

However, William didn't say a word. His pupils suddenly contracted, and his whole body was filled with anger. His fists clenched tightly, and with a fierce look in his eyes, he growled, "She's courting death."

Then, William quickly took out his phone and called Mary.

But no one answered.

He seemed a bit flustered and called Brenda, asking, "Brenda, where did Mary go?"

"She went back. She took a call from Margaret," Brenda replied.

William hung up the phone. He got into the car quickly and told George to head straight to the Smith Family's old house.

'Nothing must go wrong. Damn Margaret, I had let you go last night, and you are still seeking death,' thought William.

It had already crossed his bottom line.

Touching Mary was purely courting death.

Meanwhile, in the Smith Family's old house, Margaret pulled Mary to sit down and said earnestly, "Mary, isn't it enough that I've admitted my mistake? Tomorrow, I'll find a chance to apologize to William, will that do? For now, take the medicine for stabilizing the pregnancy; it's good for you and the baby."

Mary sat on the sofa. She felt helpless as looked at Margaret's eager expression, .

But the bowl of black medicine on the table smelled terrible.

"Mom, can't I just not drink it? It smells awful," Mary said, pouting.

She had hated taking medicine since she was a child.

Margaret wouldn't give up and put on a pitiful, tearful look, saying, "Mary, are you still mad at me? If so, I might as well not live anymore. I prepared this medicine for you with good intentions, and you still dislike it. What's the point of me living?"

Seeing Margaret like this, Mary felt bad and helpless.

She had no choice but to give in.

"Okay, I'll drink it, alright?"

Mary glanced at Margaret with a slight smile on her lips.

Margaret indeed still cared for her.

Margaret also smiled. She picked up the bowl and handed it to Mary, saying, "Good girl, you're my good daughter. If I don't treat you well, who will?"

Mary didn't hesitate. She picked up the bowl and took a sip.

But as soon as she took a sip, she couldn't stand it anymore. Mary covered her mouth and rushed to the bathroom to start vomiting.

Margaret looked at the bowl of medicine which was still full, she felt very anxious.

But she still went to the bathroom, patted Mary's back, and said with concern, "Vomiting so badly? This child must be a troublemaker."

Mary felt terrible, and the taste of the medicine made it even worse.

After vomiting for a while, she finally returned to the living room.

Margaret picked up the bowl and said eagerly, "Take it. Look at you, vomiting so much. The doctor told me that if morning sickness is severe, you need  to drink it."

"Really?" Mary hesitated, taking the bowl.

Margaret nodded repeatedly and said, "Why would I lie to you? Take it quickly."

Mary held the bowl, ready to drink, but then stopped and said with a smile, "Mom, it's cold."

Margaret was a bit anxious, touched the bowl and said, "It's not cold. Fine, I'll heat it up for you."

She hurried to the kitchen, heated the medicine, and brought it back to Mary.

This time, she was determined that Mary would drink it all.

Mary didn't hesitate. She took the bowl and was about to drink.

The door was violently kicked open from the outside.

Mary turned around and saw a figure silhouetted against the light standing at the door. The figure rushed over, grabbed the bowl from her hand, and smashed it heavily on the ground.

The bowl shattered into pieces.

Seeing the broken bowl, Margaret's anger surged. She stood up and yelled at William, "What are you doing? Don't you even respect me?"

But William's response was a furious slap.

The slap sent Margaret sprawling on the floor, unable to get up for a long time, crying out in pain.

"William! What are you doing?"

Mary was also frightened, not expecting William to suddenly rush in, smash the bowl, and slap Margaret in front of her.

William was filled with rage. He turned and glared at Margaret on the floor, pointing at the shattered bowl and spilled medicine, and roared, "Margaret! You are challenging my bottom line. If anything happens to Mary or the baby, I will never forgive you."

With that William turned and picked up the completely bewildered Mary.  He rushed out of the Smith Family's old house. At the door, Rolls-Royce that had been waiting for a long time awaited them.

To be honest, Mary was stunned when she saw the Rolls-Royce.

And when she saw George sitting in the front passenger seat, she was even more shocked.

George was sitting in the front, leaving the back seat for her and William.

What was going on?

All the way, Mary was held tightly held in William's arms. She was too scared to move or say a word.

When they arrived at the hospital, she suddenly noticed that the entrance was filled with doctors, even the director was respectfully waiting at the door.

This scene attracted a lot of onlookers.

What kind of important person was seeking medical attention? So many doctors, even the director, were waiting at the door.

Looking around, all she could see were white doctor coats.

It wasn't until Mary was placed on a hospital bed, surrounded by people and pushed into a special care room, that she suddenly realized something.

"William!"

Mary tightly held William's hand, tears streaming down her face, and said, "She's my mom."

William watched as Mary was pushed into the room, his eyes cold, saying nothing.

Half an hour later, the director, accompanied by several doctors, came out and said respectfully, "Mr. Jones, Mary is temporarily fine. Her stomach has been pumped, and the baby is okay, but she needs to be observed in the hospital for a few days."

William nodded, then pushed open the door and walked in.

On the bed, Mary looked uncomfortable, her lips pale, and her eyes red, signs that she had been crying.

Upon seeing William, she anxiously tried to sit up, but William pressed her back down.

"William, I'm sorry. She's still my mom. Please, don't blame her. After all, both baby and I are fine."

Mary tightly held William, tears streaming down her face.

Mary sensed that William was very angry, and this anger was something Margaret couldn't bear.

Mary was scared.

"Mary, don't you hate your mom for what she did?" William asked.

Mary bit her lip. She hadn't expected Margaret to do such a thing.

This was her and William's child.

"Get some rest. I'll be back soon," William said, leaving Mary with a cold, unfamiliar back.

Mary covered her face and cried. At this moment, she felt very conflicted.

But Margaret's actions had already exceeded what Mary could bear.

"Mom, you're so cruel. I'm your daughter." Mary wailed in the hospital room.

William walked out of the hospital and lit a cigarette.

At the entrance, Alan and Craig were waiting.

"Mr. Jones, everything is ready," Alan said, bowing slightly.

"Let's go," William said.

He extinguished the cigarette, and with a cold, murderous aura, got into the black Maybach 62S.
