Chapter 158 Who is the Owner of the Villa?
William turned around and saw Margaret walking over with a puzzled look on her face. Her eyebrows almost knitted into a single line.
At this moment, Margaret's face couldn't hide her disdain for William.
Next to her were two elegantly dressed wealthy ladies, one of whom was Dorothy, while the other was someone William didn't recognize. Judging by her demeanor and attire, she was clearly from a well-off family.
Margaret and Dorothy were obviously trying to curry favor with the other woman, indicating her significant status.
"What are you doing here?"
Margaret was quite surprised to run into William here, but more than that, she was annoyed. She had finally managed to ask her older sister to introduce her to a wealthy relative of the Long family to visit the upscale residential area villas. Running into William here was embarrassing.
"I..."
William was about to say he was heading to the hospital, holding a lunchbox in his hand. But Dorothy cut him off, "Margaret, can't you see? He's delivering food. Look at what he's holding."
Dorothy took every opportunity to belittle William, knowing it would embarrass Margaret .
Hearing this, Margaret's anger flared up. William was really embarrassing her. Of all places to deliver food, he had to deliver food here, right in front of Mrs. Wallace. How could she save face now?
Sure enough, the elegantly dressed middle-aged woman, with a shawl draped over her shoulders, raised her hand to her nose and wrinkled her brow. Then she pretended to cough a few times. "What's that smell? So foul. Margaret, is this poor boy your useless son-in-law?" she said.
Eliana Wallace, a descendant of the Eagle family, who was the sister of Quentin Eagle's wife, Naomi Wallace. Relying on the Eagle family's influence, Eliana had been living a life of luxury for years.
'His clothes are clean but plain. So he must be a poor food delivery boy. No wonder Dorothy had mentioned before that Margaret had a useless son-in-law. A man like this, holding a lunchbox, is obviously delivering food. Could he possibly live here? This is a villa area built by my brother-in-law's family, the Eagle family, ' thought Eliana.
Eliana wrinkled her nose. She scrutinized William and thought, 'He is clearly from the lowest rung of society, with no presence at all. No wonder he could only deliver food.'
Margaret was furious now, she glared at William to signal him to leave. Why couldn't William see that everyone despised him? Why did Mary have to marry marry such a loser?
The three middle-aged women stood there silently, just staring at William.
William wanted to leave, especially since Alan's Maybach was parked nearby, with Craig waiting by the car for him.
If it weren't for William's signal, Craig would have come over by now.
"Alright, just finish your delivery and leave," Margaret finally said, unable to tolerate it any longer, gesturing for William to leave.
To be honest, if Eliana weren't here, Margaret would have slapped him already. Especially thinking about the last time at home when William bragged to Dorothy about buying a house, made her headache. If it weren't for that, she wouldn't have lowered herself to ask Dorothy for help to get some discounts.
William was also frustrated and suddenly said, "Mom, about that villa I told you I bought last time, I really did buy it. Look, this is…”
The moment Margaret heard William call her "Mom," she felt like she was covered in thorns, extremely uncomfortable. "Enough! Stop it! How long are you going to keep bragging? You want to say you bought a villa in the upscale residential area? Do you even know how expensive a villa here is?"
Why did William have to bring such an embarrassing thing up now?
Eliana looked puzzled and turned to Margaret, sneering, "What's going on?"
Margaret was just an ordinary woman, though sharp-tongued and somewhat mean-spirited, she was only tough at home.
Upon hearing Eliana's unfriendly tone, Margaret immediately became obsequious and explained, "Mrs. Wallace, don't listen to his nonsense. He's crazy."
However,Dorothy sneered, "Margaret, that's not right. I heard William had bought a villa. From what he's saying now, did he buy one in the upscale residential area?"
Evidently, that was sarcasm and mockery.
Margaret couldn't save face so she hurriedly explained, "No, don't listen to William's nonsense. If he could buy a villa here, I'd serve him tea and wait on him every day."
Eliana snorted coldly and said, "Do you think you can just randomly buy a house in an upscale residential area?"
Margaret quickly responded, "Yes, you're right."
Margaret, consumed with shame and anger, glared at William. She stormed over and slapped him across the face, shouting, "Didn't you hear me tell you to leave? Do you have to embarrass me here?"
William didn't expect to get slapped just like that. His face went rigid, and his eyes grew icy. He had been putting up with Margaret for a long time. But, unfortunately, this sharp-tongued and aggressive woman was Mary's mother.
William shook his head helplessly and turned to walk towards Craig.
Dorothy and Eliana looked at William's shabby appearance with increasing disdain.
'Is he crazy? That is a Maybach! Does he think he can delivered food in that car?' thought Margaret.
Margaret was furious and immediately ran over. She grabbed William's arm and scolded, "William, are you out of your mind? Where are you going? Do you know how expensive that car is? Can you afford to pay for it if you scratch it? Do you want me to pay for it? The gate is over there, get out of here. Just looking at you annoys me."
William frowned and looked at Margaret. He felt very displeased. He glanced at Craig, who was about to rush over, and wisely chose to walk towards the gate.
Why should he tell Margaret that he could ride in a Maybach and that he lived in Villa No.1? Margaret always thought he was useless, so let her keep thinking that. William couldn't be bothered to explain.
However, before leaving, William suddenly turned to Margaret and asked, "Mom, if I really bought a villa, would you live in it?"
Before Margaret could respond, Dorothy and Eliana burst into laughter. This William really had something wrong with his head.
Margaret was so angry she almost fainted. She yelled with her hands on her hips, "No! Do you think you could ever afford a villa? Get out of here. How could I have a useless son-in-law like you?"
William nodded and turned to leave without any further words.
As William walked away, Dorothy immediately swayed her hips over and sneered. "Margaret, your son-in-law really loves to brag. You didn't teach him well."
Margaret gritted her teeth in hatred and muttered, "I'll deal with him when I get home."
Then, Margaret turned to Eliana and said with a bright smile, "Mrs. Wallace, if I wanted to buy a villa here, what's the minimum price?"
Eliana looked at her freshly done nails and said arrogantly, "Margaret, stop dreaming. Even though the upscale residential area is my sister's property, I can't make decisions. Look, the villa in front of you is the most expensive and luxurious one here, which is worth a billion. And that's not including the interior decoration, which would be at least two billion. And the cheapest one we saw when we entered, do you know how much that costs? Thirty-five million."
Margaret was shocked by the price. She looked up at the villa guarded by security guards at the electronic gate. This was the most expensive villa in the upscale residential area which costs two billion. What kind of wealthy person could live here?
Margaret felt a surge of envy and jealousy. How wonderful it would be if she could live here. Even just a tour would be great. Looking at the gate, the outer walls, and the planted trees and flowers, it was so grand. The tall and imposing stone archway, adorned with mythological figures, and the stone-built corners of the porch exuded elegance and luxury, with vines adding a touch of classic charm.
Just a glance from the gate revealed a classical and open architectural layout, with a pointed tower-like small castle inside, resembling a royal palace.
Dorothy looked at Margaret with disdain, then she leaned over to Eliana and said, "Mrs. Wallace, could you let us take a tour inside? We've come all this way, and it would be a shame to leave without seeing it."
Upon hearing this, Eliana turned to look at Villa No.1, with four security guards inside and outside the gate.
Eliana had only been talking, she hadn't been inside either. As she heard it, she felt curious too. What did Villa No.1 look like inside?
Eliana was also very curious and then confidently said, "Wait here, I'll call my sister and see if the villa owner can let us in for a look."
Margaret and Dorothy became excited. Eliana took out her phone and called Naomi, pleading until she got the villa owner's phone number.
"Is this the number? Should I call now?" Eliana asked.
Margaret and Dorothy both nodded and said, "Call, your sister should have informed them."
Eliana dialed the number. The three women were very curious about the villa's owner.
Meanwhile, as William just left the upscale residential area, Craig drove up behind him.
Suddenly, his phone rang...
