Chapter 438 Honey, Is This Your Doing

Leander looked like he just saw a ghost, his jaw practically on the floor.

'No way! Isn't William supposed to be a loser? How the hell is he running Crescent Investment Group?' Leander's mind was doing backflips.

William, cool as a cucumber, just nodded. "Yep, that's me."

Leander gulped, his heart doing a happy dance.

He was on cloud nine; it felt like he just hit the jackpot.

The market value of Crescent Investment Group was nearly $100 billion.

"Alright, Mr. Jones, let's cut to the chase. Drop the charges against Sterling, and I'll give your daughter back. Deal?" Leander grinned, eyeing William like he was a walking ATM.

William raised an eyebrow, turned to Leander, and asked, "Is that it?"

Leander blinked, not getting it. "Mr. Jones, you got more questions?"

William smirked, giving Leander a once-over. "Aren't you just trying to shake me down for cash?"

Leander was caught off guard, then burst out laughing, clapping William on the shoulder. "Mr. Jones, you're sharp. Since you figured it out, let's be real. To get BK Pharmaceuticals back on track, we need some grease, right? How about a cool billion?"

Leander took a sip of his wine, grinning like he had it all figured out.

He was about to make bank.

William stood up, shaking his head. "That's not fair. How about I trade my daughter for you and Sterling? Deal?"

Leander frowned, confused. "Me and Sterling? You think you can take us both down?"

William smiled. "Maybe."

Leander's grin turned nasty. "You think you can walk out of here today?"

He clapped his hands, and a dozen beefy guys in black stormed in, looking imposing and formidable.

"William, this deal's a steal. Give me a billion and let Sterling go, then I'll let your daughter go and you can walk out of here," Leander said, all smug.

To him, William was just a rich guy with no muscle.

William's eyes narrowed, a cold look on his face. "You're pretty confident, but don't forget where you are! You can't just do whatever you want here!"

Leander's smile faded, and he glared at William. "You got one shot."

William chuckled. "You seem pretty sure of yourself."

Then, William snapped his fingers, and Benjamin stepped up.

The room's temperature dropped like a rock.

Benjamin moved like lightning.

He took down each guy with one hit!

When the last guy hit the floor, Leander was a mess. He slumped into his chair, staring at William and Benjamin like they were monsters.

William found his freaked-out look hilarious.

A minute ago, he was all tough, now he was shaking in his boots.

"Leander, got anything else to say?" William asked coldly.

Even scared, Leander laughed darkly. "William, you think it's over? Your daughter's still with me! Think hard! Or you'll only see her corpse!"

William's face went dark, and he stayed silent.

Leander thought he had William by the balls and laughed like a maniac. "William, think about it. A billion bucks for your daughter and your wife's company. It's a sweet deal."

William shot back, ice-cold, "Idiot!"

He looked at Leander like he was already six feet under.

Then, Leander's private phone buzzed.

He hesitated, not sure if he should pick up.

"Go ahead, answer it. You're about to hear your own downfall," William said with a chilling smile that made Leander's spine tingle.

Leander, shaking, answered the call. His assistant's frantic voice came through from Sunshine Bay City.

"Leander, we're screwed! HQ just fired you as CEO!"

"What? No way!" Leander's voice cracked with panic.

His assistant continued, "And the cops are here with evidence of your crimes. All your assets are frozen!"

Leander's world spun, and he felt like he might pass out.

He glared at William, screaming, "Is this your doing? Don't you care about your daughter?"

William stared at him, stone-faced, then kicked him hard. "Call your guy and ask where my daughter is. Theron, right?"

Leander's face went white. "What do you mean?"

William, calm as ever, said, "Call and find out."

Leander dialed Theron's number, but a cold laugh answered. "Leander? Hey there."

It wasn't Theron!

Leander hung up, his face a mask of disbelief. "What do you want?"

William grinned, kicked him again, and yelled, "You used my daughter to mess with me? You're done! Did you think no one knew about your dirty secrets?"

Leander's face fell, clutching his chest. After a long pause, he begged, "Mr. Jones, name your terms."

William laughed. "You think you can negotiate? Your life is in my hands now!"

Just then, the office door swung open, and a bunch of uniformed guys marched in, dragging Theron and his crew.

Theron and the others dropped to their knees in front of William, pleading, "Mr. Jones, please! We were wrong. It was all Leander's idea."

Theron didn't hesitate to throw Leander under the bus.

Leander lost it, cursing up a storm.

William glared at Theron. "Got proof of Leander's crimes?"

"Yes!" Theron nodded like a bobblehead.

Leander crumpled to the floor, knowing he was toast.

Half an hour later, Leander was in cuffs, being hauled away.

Meanwhile, in a hotel suite, Maya was getting it on with some guy when the door burst open. A SWAT team stormed in, yanking her off the bed.

"Freeze! You're under arrest!" an officer barked.

Game over.

William headed back to the hospital, spending a rough week with Mary.

During that week, he took care of Mary like she was made of glass.

One day, Mary was in her hospital bed, watching the news about the Medical Association's scandal.

"This just in, the Medical Association branch has been exposed for corruption. Sterling is in custody, and Leander, the president of Sunshine Bay City's main department, has also been detained..."

Mary turned to William, who was lounging on the sofa with a newspaper over his face, and asked, "Honey, was this your doing?"
