Chapter 10 Reserve the supreme suite
In no time, everyone arrived at the most famous restaurant in Lumina City, Azure Pavilion.
The classmates, after entering Azure Pavilion, widened their eyes in astonishment.
Although there were many wealthy students at the University of Lumina, not everyone came from affluent backgrounds. There were also many ordinary people among them who had never been to such a place before.
Paul and Tyler, on the other hand, looked uneasy as they followed behind James.
"James, do you really have the money to treat everyone to a meal here?" Tyler hesitated for a quick moment before quietly asking James.
"Don't worry, if I'm here, then I definitely have the money to pay the bill." James replied in a calm tone.
"But…," Just as Tyler was about to speak, a beautiful woman in a white dress walked up to James and the others with a bright smile.
After seeing James, the woman in the dress flashed a hint of disdain in her eyes, then turned to Michael and bowed, "Mr. Brown, are you here for a meal?"
"Yes, we are here for a meal. Help me find a larger private suite," Michael said arrogantly.
"Alright, Mr. Brown. At the moment, we have a standard suite for twenty-eight thousand dollars, a VIP suite for fifty-eight thousand dollars, and a supreme suite for eighty-eight thousand dollars. Which one would you like?" The woman asked softly with a smile.
Upon hearing this, Michael couldn't help but turn to James and whispered, "James, since everyone has come to Azure Pavilion for a special occasion, I don't think a standard suite would be that exciting. How about we get a VIP suite instead?"
"Michael, are you crazy? The minimum spending for a VIP suite is fifty-eight thousand dollars!" Paul seemed somewhat displeased.
Everyone present was well aware that Michael was intentionally causing trouble for James.
If James were to agree, it would mean spending a considerable sum of money; if he didn't agree to it, he would be humiliated in front of everyone.
Disregarding Paul, Michael addressed James, "So, what do you say? Are you perhaps intimidated by the price?"
"There is no need for a VIP suite," James said nonchalantly.
"Haha! I always knew you were a penniless chap, pretending to be affluent when you're not. Let's switch to a standard suite instead."
In truth, Michael's earlier remarks were merely meant to humiliate James.
After all, even if they were to reserve a VIP suite, he might not necessarily have the means to spend lavishly.
"Miss, kindly arrange a standard suite for us," Michael turned to the lady in a cocktail dress.
"Certainly, I will attend to that right away!" the lady replied with a smile and a nod.
"Hold on, I never said I wanted a standard suite." At that moment, James suddenly spoke up.
"Do you find it too costly and wish to back out?" Michael turned to James and inquired.
"Given how rarely we all gather, why settle for a standard suite?" James suggested calmly. "Let's aim for the supreme suite instead."
Upon hearing James's words, Michael froze for a moment, his smile disappearing from his face.
The classmates in the room were all equally stunned.
"James, have you lost your mind? Do you realize the minimum spending in that suite is eighty-eight thousand dollars?" Tyler piped up.
"Indeed, James, you must be aware of the spending regulations at Azure Pavilion!" Michael's expression was notably displeased at this point.
He never imagined that James would opt for the supreme suite!
The expression on the face of the lady in the cocktail dress also changed unexpectedly. She had never anticipated that the wealthiest among them was not Michael but James, clad in a delivery uniform.
Jennifer scrutinized James from head to toe, her expression filled with astonishment. She couldn't fathom how the typically frugal James had transformed into a more generous persona.
James, can you really afford this? Paul gazed at James with his inquiry.
"Of course, but I'm concerned whether Mr. Brown can afford it," James replied with a placid tone.
Upon hearing James's statement, Michael hesitated for a moment before raising his voice, declaring, "Fine, let's go for the supreme suite. Of course, I can afford it. If James wishes it, then let it be!"
At that moment, Michael found himself utterly embarrassed by James; he just couldn't admit that he lacked the funds for it, and reluctantly agreed.
After the lady arranged the supreme suite, she led everyone inside.
Once inside the suite, everyone's expressions were marked with bewilderment.
After all, they couldn't comprehend why James, who typically made a living from deliveries, would suddenly exhibit such generosity.
"James, are you really treating us to a meal here?" Ashley's tone toward James had changed, her beautiful eyes lingering on him with curiosity and an intention for appraisal.
"Certainly! Everyone, indulge in the feast!" James replied calmly.
Upon hearing this, everyone dove into the menu and began placing their orders without a moment of delay.
Meanwhile, Michael appeared somewhat begrudging and ordered a bottle of Bordeaux wine in front of James.
Little did he realize that James not only didn't mind but proceeded to follow up with an order of ten more bottles.
This alone amounted to nearly fifty thousand dollars.
Michael's expression darkened instantly, as he knew that he didn't have enough money to foot the bill.
"Mr. Brown, why do you appear somewhat ill at ease? Is there regret?" James inquired softly, turning to Michael.
"It's merely a few bottles of wine, nothing significant!" Michael retorted, trying to play it off, before lowering his head to fiddle with his phone as though preparing to solicit a loan from someone!
